Not Without Roman- Prinxiety Mpreg

TW: Mpreg, swearing.

It was cold. Virgil shivered as he poured himself a large mug of hot chocolate, sneezing quietly.
Roman was out that night, he was performing in his favourite musical play, The Heathers. Roman was a professional actor. He had acted in movies, TV shows, advertisements, and plays.

And Virgil was eight months pregnant.

Roman and Virgil had been in a relationship for three years before getting married. They had been married for a mere day before Virgil got pregnant.
When Virgil found out he was pregnant he was terrified. Terrified of the responsibility, terrified that Roman would leave him, just terrified by the very concept of having a child.
So Virgil kept his pregnancy a secret from Roman for over two months, wearing baggier clothes and hunching over.

It was only when Roman began questioning his behaviour and rounding belly that Virgil finally came clean and told him.
Thankfully, Virgil's fears had been wrong, and Roman was ecstatic at the thought of being a father.

Now, Virgil smiled as he rubbed his large belly, sipping on his hot chocolate.

Virgil had barely managed to convince Roman to act in the play, pointing out that he wasn't due for another month, and Roman deserved to have a night to shine.
So Roman left, after kissing Virgil on the lips, and kissing his round stomach gently. Virgil watched him go, smiling.

Virgil was a very strange male. He had a genetic mixup that only one in a million males had, he had both sets of reproductive organs inside his body. He had a womb, and ovaries, and everything a woman had. Though he also had everything a male had. He was very unique. It was hard telling Roman about his condition, but Roman accepted it and loved him nevertheless.

Virgil was sitting on the couch watching TV, just flicking through the channels.
He frowned as a sharp pain shot through his abdomen, wincing slightly.
Suddenly his phone started vibrating, and Patton's name showed up on screen.

"Hey, Pat." Virgil said after he answered the phone.
"Hey kiddo!"
Patton's cheery voice made Virgil smile once more, and he chuckled.
"What're you laughing at, Virge?" Patton asked.
Virgil sighed, "You're always so cheerful, I often wonder how you do it."
"Huh, well, there's no secret to being happy, ya know!" Patton giggled, "So, has Roman left for his play yet?"
"Yeah, about ten minutes ago."
"And you're okay?"

Virgil frowned, "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
"Well, you're eight months pregnant and home alone and you haven't exactly been stress free lately-" Patton was cut off as Virgil groaned.
"Oh my fucking god, just because I'm pregnant it doesn't mean that I'm totally helpless!" Virgil sighed, "Patton, I am fine, I feel completely fine."

Patton was silent for a moment, then he spoke again.

"You promise you'd tell me if something was wrong?"
"Patton, you've been my best friend my entire life, there're things you know about me that I haven't told anyone else, not even Roman." Virgil smiled, "I love you Pat, no homo."
Patton giggled again, "I love you too Virge, no homo."
"Alright, talk later?"
"Seeya!"

Virgil hung up the phone with a sigh, setting it down next to him. After seeing that there was nothing good on TV, Virgil got up and walked to the staircase, looking up at it.
"Here goes nothing." he mumbled.
Gripping the stair rail with one hand and holding his belly with the other, Virgil slowly began the journey upstairs, pausing every so often to take a breather.

Roman had wanted to get Virgil one of those electronic chairs that attached to the staircase and rolled up and down, but Virgil had managed to talk him out of it. He needed to strain his body, build his strength, and sitting down half the day when he could be walking wouldn't do him any favours.

Once at the top of the stairs Virgil leaned against the wall, panting.
Maybe I should have let Roman get me the stair chair.

Being pregnant had changed Virgil. It brought out a new side (hehe) to him, made him act like he never had before. He was responsible, always taking every precaution to ensure that his baby wouldn't be harmed. He was happier, more relaxed, less anxious. Virgil smiled more. The old Virgil wouldn't have hesitated to have fourth helpings of every meal (or eat nothing at all), but now he controlled himself, only eating what was healthy for him and the baby. The old Virgil wouldn't have had a problem with staying up until 3am watching TV, but now Virgil was in bed by 9pm, 10 at the absolute latest.

Seeing Virgil change so drastically made Roman fall in love with him all over again.

Virgil suddenly gasped, feeling a sharp pain. He clutched his stomach, wincing as he felt another one. Then he felt an ache in his lower back, slowly spreading throughout his entire lower region.

Oh, no.

Virgil's eyes widened, "No, no no no no no..."
A painful cramp occurred low in his stomach, causing him to hunch over in pain, sliding down the wall. It lasted for no more than ten seconds, then passed.
Okay, it could be nothing, Virgil thought, panicked. I might not be in labour-
But just as Virgil thought that another contraction ripped through his body, making him gasp in pain.

Alright, scratch that thought.

Virgil bit his lip as yet another contraction occurred, struggling to hold back tears.
I've got to call Roman, or Patton, I've got to call fucking someone.
Virgil reached into his hoodie pocket for his phone- but it wasn't there.
Oh shit, it's on the couch.
From where Virgil was currently sitting, the couch seemed a thousand miles away, out of reach.

But he had to get it.

Virgil slowly stood up, using the wall to lean on. Just the simple act of standing on two feet caused him extreme pain, but he grit his teeth and took a step down the stairs, trying not to fall.

Every step sent a shock of pain up Virgil's spine, and he cried out, unable to stand any longer and quickly sitting where he was. He was basically at the bottom of the staircase then, and he slowly crawled to the couch and grabbed his phone off the seat.

By then Virgil was suffering immensely. His back ached, he had strong cramps, and his stomach felt like it was tightening in on itself. Another wave of pain washed over Virgil, making him shout out.
Tears poured down his face as he found Patton's contact and pressed Call, waiting anxiously for him to pick up.
It seemed like an eternity later that he finally did, and his cheery voice spoke before Virgil could say anything.

"Hiya Virge! What's up?"
"Patton, I-I think I'm in labour." Virgil's voice cracked, and he let out a sob.
"Wai- what?!" Patton's surprised voice was fast paced, "Wha- has your water broken yet?"
Virgil shook his head, forgetting for a moment that Patton couldn't see him. "N-no, but I'm having con-contractions and they r-r-really hurt-" Virgil broke off as another contraction hit him, and he groaned in pain. "Pat, I-I need you to get over here. Roman's at his play and I have no-one else to call-" he broke off once more, moaning.
"Virgil, I'm giving the phone to Logan, we're on our way!"

Patton's soft voice was replaced with the serious one of Logan, Pattons boyfriend. Logan was a doctor, to be exact, an
OB/GYN (obstetrician).

"Virgil, how long and painful are your contractions?" Logan asked.
Virgil hissed, "Long and painful enough for me to want to die."
"I need numbers, Virgil."
"They last for about, I don't know, thirty seconds? And- fuck- the pain is unbearable."
"How far apart are they?"
"A minute? A few seconds? I don't know, not far enough."
"When did they start?"
"I've been having little pains for a few hours, but these ones started not even ten minutes ago."

Virgil heard muffled speaking on the other end of the line, then the low rumble of a car engine. "Hello?! What's happening?!"

Logan's voice came through again, "Virgil, it seems that you are quite far into your labouring, despite the fact that you started not too long ago."
"No fucking shit!" Virgil groaned, "Where are you!?"
"We are on our way to your house now, stay where you are."
Virgil rolled his eyes, "It's not like I can even move."
The line went dead, and Virgil was alone again, with nothing to distract him from the excruciating pain.

After Logan hung up he handed the phone back to Patton, who immediately called Romans phone, biting his fingernails nervously.
It went straight to voicemail, so Patton hung up and tried again. This time it was answered, but not by Roman.

"Who is this?" an unfamiliar male voice asked.
Patton frowned, "Who's this? Where's Roman?"
"Mr Sanders is on stage at the moment, may I ask why you called?"
Patton quickly spoke, "I need you to get Roman off stage, his husband has just gone into labour and he needs Roman. I'm his friend Patton, and-"

Patton was cut off by the man laughing, "Okay, who is this really?"
"I told you! I'm his friend Patton-" but Patton was once again cut off.
"Seriously? His husband's in labour? People need to think of better prank calls, 'cause this is just pathetic."

And the man hung up, leaving Patton furious.
"Pathetic?! Oh, I'll show him pathetic-"
Logan silenced his boyfriend, "Patton, you can beat the man up later, right now our main focus is Virgil."
Patton nodded, but his face still showed signs of frustration.
Logan pulled up out front of Virgil's house, and he and Patton jumped out and raced to the door, medical case in hand.

They didn't knock, but instead just ran inside, going into the living room to see Virgil on the floor, leaning against the couch, his face screwed up in pain.
"Virgil!" Patton cried and knelt down next to the labouring male.
Virgil had his arms wrapped around his distended belly, hot tears pouring down his red face. Patton helped Virgil to pull off his hot jumper, tossing it on the couch.
Logan had set down his briefcase on the
ground near Virgil, and found a sheet to lay in front of the couch.
He came and knelt next to Virgil as well.
"Virgil, I need to move you onto the sheet, alright?"
Virgil nodded slightly, his eyes still squeezed shut.

Patton and Logan both helped Virgil to move the few feet to the sheet, letting him rest his head on the couch.

Logan snapped open his briefcase and rummaged around through it, "Okay, Virgil, I'm going to need to see how far dilated you are, so I need to remove your pants."
It seemed that Virgil didn't give a damn who took off his pants, he just nodded and spread his legs, letting Logan pull off his sweats and boxers. Logan quickly placed a sheet over Virgil's exposed legs and lower region, so as to save him at least some of his dignity.

Patton looked down most of the time, but raised his head when Logan touched his hand gently. "Patton, I know this must be difficult for you to watch, but I need you to help Virgil, okay?"
Patton nodded, smiling slightly. "Okay."
Logan also nodded, then went back to his case.
Patton held Virgil's hand while Logan measured his dilation, squeezing it gently and murmuring soothing words to him.

"Virgil, you're eight centimetres dilated." Logan said, pulling on a pair of gloves.
"Which means...?" Virgil spoke for the first time since Logan and Patton arrived, and opened his eyes.
Logan looked in his case while answering Virgil. "It means that it's too late to get you to the hospital. You're going to have to give birth here."

Virgil's eyes widened in fear, and he looked back and forth between Patton and Logan.
"No- but, what if something goes wrong? What if-" Virgil grunted as a contraction hit him, and he was silent.
"Virgil, if we attempt to drive to the hospital now then there's a high possibility that you will have to give birth in the car, and that would be much worse than this." Logan pulled something out of his case.
"But still-"

Logan stared Virgil in the eyes. "Virgil Sanders, I promise that I will let nothing happen to your child. If something even remotely concerning occurs, I will do everything in my power to make sure that your baby survives. I would never let anything happen to something so important. I've studied birth for years, and yes, your situation is quite different to all the others I've experienced, but you can still rely on me for this. Now, do you trust me?"

Virgil sniffed, "I trust you."

Patton smiled, watching the two males in front of him bond momentarily.

"But," Virgil sniffed again, "where's Roman?"
Looking sideways at Logan, Patton sighed before answering. "Virge, he's still at the play. I called his phone and this man answered, he thought I was prank calling."
Virgil looked crestfallen, "Roman's not coming?"

Patton shook his head.

"Well, call him again!" Virgil said, "Try again! Get him here!"
Patton nodded, "I will." He pulled out his phone and pressed on Romans contact, sighing when it was picked up straight away. However, he also sighed when he heard that it was the same man as before who answered.
"Who is this?"

Patton spoke quickly, "It's Patton again. Look, I really really need Roman to come home right now, it's urgent."
"Wait, let me guess, is his husband in labour?"
"Yes, he is, actually."
"You kids need to stop prank calling people, it's gets annoying."
"It's not a prank call! This is serious-"
"Patton, give me the phone."

Patton looked at Virgil in surprise, seeing his outstretched hand, motioning for the phone.
"Virg-"
"Now, Patton!" Virgil shouted.
Patton quickly handed Virgil the phone, waiting to see what would happen.

"Look here, buddy." Virgil began. "I don't know or care who you are, but my name is Virgil Sanders, my husband is Roman Sanders, you know him. I am eight months pregnant and in labour with his baby! I was born with a rare genetic defect that caused me to have male and female reproductive organs, which lead to the possibility of me falling pregnant- which I did. I am now in excruciating pain and I need my husband with me now! If you have any idea what's good for you then you will give this phone to Roman and let him come home to me. If you don't, then you're going to wish you were never born."

Virgil fell silent after his rant, apparently listening intently to the man on the other line, nodding slowly.
"Good, now go fuck yourself."
Virgil hung up the phone and handed it back to Patton, letting himself moan in pain.

"What did he say?" Patton asked.
"He said that Roman's scene was almost over and he'd tell him to leave as soon as he got off stage." Virgil closed his eyes, whimpering as a sharp pain shot through his abdomen.

"Virgil, I'm going to have to break your water." Logan said, "You're almost ten centimetres dilated, and you'll have to start pushing soon."
"I won't push until Roman gets here." Virgil moaned.
Logan sighed, "If you're fully dilated before then you'll have no choice."
"Will I dilate quicker if you break my water?" Virgil asked.
"Yes, you will."
"Then don't break it."

"Virgil!" Logan snapped, "I have no choice but to! You're about to give birth and prolonging it could endanger the baby!"
Virgil seemed shocked by Logan's outburst, and he stayed silent for a few moments, apart from the panting he was doing from the pain he was in. Patton bit his lip, glancing between the two males.

"Al-alright." Virgil said, "If you have to."

Logan nodded, "Patton, maybe you should go find some pillows and towels for Virgil."
Patton nodded quickly and jumped up, glad for an excuse to leave the scene.

"I'm sorry for that little outburst, Virgil." Logan said, "It's just... about a year ago there was a pregnant woman who came to me to deliver her baby. She laboured fast and the baby came quicker than anticipated, but there was a complication with the delivery. The baby died just after being born. There was nothing I could have done, it was completely out of my hands, but it didn't stop me from feeling the unbearable guilt I felt. It was the first time a baby had died during one of my deliveries, and it still haunts me to this day."

Logan looked up at Virgil, "I swore to myself that I would never let another child die in my arms, but I'm always so afraid that I'll mess something up."
Virgil smiled painfully, and reached over to hold Logan's hand, "Logan, I have complete faith in you."
Logan also smiled, "Thank you, Virgil." He stood up and began walking to the kitchen, "I'll be right back."
Virgil nodded.

Logan stopped and saw Patton standing still, holding the pillows and blankets, just staring ahead.
"Patton, darling?"

Patton jumped a foot in the air, accidentally dropping his armful of bedding to the floor. Logan lifted Patton's chin up with his knuckle, looking deeply into his blue, teary eyes.
"Are you alright, love?" Logan asked.
Nodding his head, Patton sighed. "I just hate seeing him in so much pain." he whispered.
Logan nodded, "It pains me also, to see him suffer like this. But you know what?"

Patton shook his head.

"After all of this, Virgil will have a beautiful, healthy baby, and everything will be alright." Logan smiled at Patton, and gently kissed him on the lips.
"It'll all be alright." Patton nodded after him and Logan separated, sniffing.

"But for now," Logan continued, "I need you help Virgil through this, because he's scared and he wants Roman and he needs you to be strong for him, I need you to be strong. Can you do that?"
Patton nodded.
"Good."

They both looked towards the living room when they heard a long, pained shout coming from there.
"Get the pillows and blankets and meet me back in there." Logan said, before racing back to Virgil.

Virgil threw his head back against the couch and screamed as a long contraction tore through his entire body, causing him agonising pain.
Logan knelt in front of Virgil and spread his legs wider, so as to get better access to where he needed to work.

"Patton, the pillows and towels!" Logan called.

Patton rushes in and tucked a few pillows behind Virgil's back, letting him rest more comfortably. He then handed a few of the towels to Logan, who laid them right underneath Virgil's lower region and legs.
"I apologise sincerely for the awkwardness, Virgil." Logan mumbled.

Virgil seemed to either not hear him or just not care, so Logan quickly pushed his fingers inside Virgil, feeling around for the amniotic sack membrane. Locating it quickly, he snagged it with his finger and pulled, successfully tearing it open.
A gush of clear liquid flowed out of Virgil and he arched his back, screaming even louder.

Roman grinned widely as he walked off stage, excited for the next scene.

"Hey, Roman!" A voice called.
Roman turned around and saw that it was Jack, the stage-manager.

"Jack, what's up?" Roman asked, still smiling.
"While you were on stage this dude called Patton rang your phone." Jack began, "He said something about your husband being 'in labour'? So I hung up because as if a male could be pregnant, and then he called back a while later and this insane-sounding guy got on the phone and practically screamed at me to get you home to him?"

Roman listened to this with growing worry, his eyes widening.
"When was this!?" Roman asked, "Jack, when did he call!?"
Jack thought for a moment, "I can't be exactly sure, probably like, almost an hour ago?"
Roman stood forward and grabbed Jack by his shoulders, shaking him.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier!?"
Jack raised his hands up, "Jeeze, dude, I just assumed it was a prank call!" He snorted, "Who the hell would believe that a guy could be pregnant? Like, really?"

Roman shoved Jack from him and ran to his dressing room, grabbing his bag, phone and car keys, then raced to Jack and said, "Get Charles to play me for the rest of the show, he knows all my lines and looks like me."
Jack raised an eyebrow, "Where are you going?"

Roman was already at the door when he shouted back, "I'm going to be with my husband for the birth of our baby!"

"Virgil, you have to push!"

Patton crouched next to Virgil on his right, clutching his hand. Logan sat between Virgil's spread legs, demanding that Virgil push. Virgil screamed in pain, throwing his head back and pulling his knees to his chest.
Virgil let out a groan, "I can't push until Roman gets here!"
"Virgil, if you don't push something could go wrong!" Logan said.

Shaking his head, Virgil cried, "I won't let Roman miss the birth of his child, I won't do it."
"You're at ten centimetres, you need to push!"
"But I can't!"
"You have to!"
"Virgil!"

Virgil looked up at Patton, who had just spoken his name.

"Virgil Sanders, Roman would rather you give birth to his live baby without him here, than give birth to his dead baby with him here." Patton cupped Virgil's face with both hands. "We need you to push, Virgil, for your sake and the baby's."
Virgil swallowed nervously and nodded, "O-Okay."
Patton smiled at Virgil, "Good."

Turning to face Logan, Virgil nodded again, biting his lip in pain.
"Alright, Virgil." Logan said, "On your next contraction, I want you to push as hard as you can."

Virgil cried out as the pain hit him again, and he put his chin to his chest and pushed.
"That's good, Virgil, again."

Virgil bore down and pushed again, digging his fingernails into Patton's hand. He felt the baby slip down lower into his pelvis, and slowly move further down.
Logan shifted positions, so he was kneeling more now. "Good, now another push."
Virgil was just taking a deep breath and preparing to push when he suddenly heard the front door slam open and shut, and a worried voice call out.

"VIRGIL!? Virgil, where are you?!"

It was Roman.

Virgil cried with relief, almost laughing, "ROMAN! I'm- I'm in the-" he broke off when another contraction hit him, and he screamed in pain.
Roman sprinted to the living room and saw Virgil on the ground with his legs spread, with Patton by his side and Logan between his knees.

He sighed and leapt to Virgil's left side, gripping his hand.
"Oh, Virgil, honey, I'm so sorry I didn't get here sooner! Jack didn't tell me that you called until ten minutes ago and I got here as fast as I could!"
Virgil shook his head, "It's okay, you're here now." He looked up at Roman and smiled, fresh tears of pain springing to his eyes.
"I love you, Roman."
"I love you too, Virgil."

The pair kissed quickly, before Virgil pulled back and yelled in pain, baring down hard to push again, gripping both Patton and Romans hand.

"Virgil, I can see the head." Logan said, as a burning sensation occurred in Virgil's entrance, "I need you to pant now, don't push, just pant."
So Virgil did as he said and panted, glad for the break in the hard pushes.

But all too soon, Logan was asking Virgil to push again.

"The head is almost out, Virgil, not too long until it's all over."
Those words were the sweetest that Virgil had heard in a while, and he obliged to Logan's request to push, giving it all his might.
He felt a bit of relief as the head fully came out, and he paused for a moment to catch his breath.
"That's really good, Virgil." Logan encouraged, "Now, this is the hard part- the shoulders."
It was the hard part indeed. Virgil struggled on getting the shoulders out for no less than ten minutes, and he felt more relief as they both popped out.

Roman held his hand for the entire thing, whispering words of encouragement all the time.
"Alright Virgil, just a few more pushes and your baby will be out!" Logan said, "Just a few more!"

Virgil sighed, "No."

Roman looked at Virgil, "What?"
"No... I, I can't do it..." Virgil whispered as his eyes slowly closed, "I'm so tired..."
"No, Virgil!" Roman squeezed Virgil's hand, "Come on Virge, I need you to stay awake for a bit longer."

A few tears seeped from Virgil's eyes, "But I don't want to." he said, "I'm so sick of it, I just want it to be over already!"
"Virgil, honey, it will be over if you just stay awake and push a few more times." Roman kissed Virgil again, "You can do it, I know you can. Do it for me."
Virgil nodded sleepily, "Okay, Roman, I'll do it for you."
"Thank you, sweetie, thank you."

Virgil took a deep breath and pushed again, grunting as he felt the baby slip further out.
"One more push, Virgil!" Logan said, "Just one more big push!"

Virgil gathered up all the strength he had gained throughout his pregnancy, thought of how much he loved Roman, how much Roman loved him, how much he loved his baby already... Virgil opened his mouth in one last agonising scream, and gave it is his all.

And he pushed.
And in a second, it was over. All the pain, the tears, the fear, it was all gone.

"It's a girl!"

Virgil cried. He fell limp, his head resting on the couch behind him, his arms hanging by his side, legs still bent.
He panted, closing his eyes for a few seconds, still. Then he felt a tap on his shoulder and opened his eyes, seeing Roman above him.
"You can hold her."

Happy tears poured down Virgil's face as he took the small baby that Logan was offering him and held it to his chest.
Roman burst into tears at the sight of his husband and daughter, smiling like an idiot as he leaned down and kissed Virgil. Kissed him for so long they forgot that everything else was there. It was just Virgil, Roman, and their baby girl.
Virgil slowly pulled away, smiling. He looked down at his daughter, touching her tiny feet and hands.

"My baby girl... My baby Andrea... My baby Andy..."
Logan held Patton close as his boyfriend cried into his chest, overwhelmed by it all, but so happy.

Roman and Virgil's lips met again, in a gentle, sweet kiss.
