Now I could go into a whole other chapter about new students, but this one is dedicated especially to characters that move somewhere over the summer and become the "new kid at school."

I can't believe that I had to move away from all of my friends! It's the first day at my new school and as soon as I entered, all eyes were on me. The school bully that I could just tell was a bully since I can totally just know someone by looking at them walked up to me and started to bully me (what else would bullies do?).

Gag me with a spoon (sorry, learning 80's slang), this annoys me so much when authors make a big stink about a new person at the school when they're starting off at the beginning of the school year! There's this girl at my school that I had no idea was new until a few months in because she came over the summer. Unless your character is moving in at the middle of the year, there's no reason that they should be noticed by the entire school!

As for the bully parts, from my experience the most popular kids are either your sporty brainiacs (yep, both in one) or the "new kid" that moved in a few years ago and everyone wanted to get to know. You don't get bullied automatically because you're the new kid at the beginning of the year.
