SHELBY
Shelby and her best friend, Cyd, arrived at school. They weren't exactly looking forward to it, especially since they've changed throughout the years. The girls recently found out that Stephanie, the most popular girl in school, was murdered which was sad. As the blonde and brunette made their way to the door, Shelby's best friend started punching her, which only meant one thing: she saw a boy she liked.
"Shelbs! Check it out!" Cyd exclaimed. "It looks like there's a new boy at the school." Cyd pointed out a young boy about eighteen in mostly dark clothes, he looked similar to the other man, which meant one of two things: Either the man was the boy's father, or they're twins. No matter, they gave off a bad boy vibe, which worried Shelby a little, but if her friend liked the boy, she might as well help Cyd out.
"He is pretty cute," Shelby agreed, "Come on, lets go inside." The girls walked into the school, arriving at the commons which was large, to the right, a set of stairs led up to the second floor, in the center sets of tables stood out in a circle, leaning against the wall nearest to the office their friends Barry and Naldo were talking. The girls walked over to them. Naldo was a little taller than Barry and always wore different hats with long pants and a shirt that had so many patterns that it made the clothes seem loud. Barry always wore blue and brown pants.
"Hey guys," Shelby said. "How's everything?"
"Still trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong," Barry said. "I wanted to be the one to discover time travel."
"Face it Barry," Cyd said. "We outsmarted you for once."
"On a totally unrelated note," Shelby interceded, "Did you guys see those two men enter the school?"
"Oh, you mean the ones that are talking with the principal right now?" Naldo asked.
"Wait, we have a principal?" Cyd spoke in confusion. "How come we never see him?"
"Probably because he's not important," Barry answered. "Come on we're going to be late for Chem."
"Late for chem?" Shelby almost laughed at the thought of being late. "I don't think Mr. Doyle is going to care."
"Right? You only want to get there so you can drop some kind of knowledge or whatever science thing you do."
"Because I'm smarter, and I like to prove it to anyone who can hear me," Barry responded. The friends walked into the chemistry lab, only to find a total stranger standing behind Mr. Doyle's desk. "Wait, who is that?" Barry questioned. Barry and his friends looked over at the new teacher, who was pretty muscular with bronde hair. He was going through some papers on the desk.
"That's the guy we saw outside." Shelby said. Barry and Naldo turned to sit at their desks at the same time the late bell rang, but when they went to take their seats, another man was sitting at their desk.
"Um, excuse me," Barry said as he approached the desk. "But this is our table." The boy looked up from his phone calmly. Barry felt like he was going to regret attempting to speak to the new kid.
"Yes?" the boy asked. "And your point?"
"Can you move?" Barry responded.
"Nah, I'm good here." the boy responded.
"Barry, you need to be more polite," Naldo said. Cyd and Shelby took their seats and watched the scene unfold. "Excuse me sir, but do you think you could move please?"
"No." the boy said stubbornly.
"Is there a problem?" the teacher said. Barry turned and walked over to the desk.
"Yes, sir, there is," Barry said instantly. "That desk he's at belongs to Naldo and I think of this as an analogy, I have to sit in the front so the teacher can call on me and..."
"Barry, was it?" the teacher said. "Yeah, I don't care. Now take a seat so we can get started," the man said, causing Barry to shut up and sit down at the desk with Naldo. Cyd and Shelby laughed, seeing that the teacher could keep Barry quiet. "Now then, Your teacher, Mr. Doyle had to leave for a few days, something about his mothers back.. anyway, my name is Dean Ross, I'll be your substitute teacher for a few days, now I'm going to call out the role please announce yourself when called." Mr. Ross started reading off the list while Shelby stared at him, he was cute, however, when she looked at his right hand she noticed he was wearing a wedding ring.
"Dang it," Shelby whispered to her friend. "Why do all the cute guys have to be married?"
"Well, they're good looking," Cyd said and looked over at the new kid. "Like that kid over there."
"Cyd, do you notice they look alike?" Shelby asked.
"Who?" Cyd answered.
"The new kid and Mr. Ross... do you think they might be related?" Shelby questioned. After going through the entire list, Mr. Ross began explaining what Mr. Doyle had left. Before he could finish, Barry raised his hand, forcing everyone in the room to groan.
"What now?" Mr. Ross complained.
"Sorry sir, but I wanted to point out that we were talking about subatomic particles the last time and I wanted to see if I could explain it to the class."
"How about," says the boy. "You let him talk, I'm sure he'll get to that at some point."
"I'm sorry, but what's your name? And why do you get to talk to me?" Barry questioned.
"The name is Ezra Ross. Watch what you say to my father, smartass." Ezra said.
