The actual end.
A/N Alright, this is the last chapter. I proimse. Enjoy!
"I'm really sorry for before too!"
It's okay Phil. I'd just worry about the next part if I were you.
----------
Endra looked between the two a couple times before disappearing in a puff of particles. She realized she probably shouldn't have done that.
"Been there for you? I was" Phil had stopped and turned around to look at his son. "I was always there"
"No you weren't!' Jonas yelled "you wee never there! you just- showed up five years ago right after mom died! I didn't even know you were still alive. Mom didn't know if you were alive! You left us, then came back and- expected it all to be good" his eyes shimmered with tears "You didn't raise me. you never had a chance to cause you didn't care"
Phil blinked. his face was blank but something about him had changed. He felt as if he had been hit straight in the chest with a tree. Shaking his head he let out a sigh.
"I was there, I visited whenever I could find the time which wasn't often. Herobrine had me working 24/7 usually and I didn't want him to find out about you two. He would've used you against me, made sure I didn't mess up. If he had found out there would be nothin from stopping him from killing you and your mother. I was trying to protect you" he said, his voice soft and full of obvious pain.
Jonas shook his head, still too angry "No, you could've quit. you always threaten that anyways! You always make up an excuse for something! Some way to make it seem like you're not the bad guy! I'm sick of it" he glared. A pang of guilt swept through Phil and he looked down.
"If that's what you think" he sighed "fine. You can go home and pack your bags. if you don't want to talk to me it fine. I was already on my way to get your brother though, if you want to come alright. if you don't, have fun wherever you're going" Phil said and turned his back. Jonas stared after as he walked away down the street.
----------
Lora sat in one of the recliners in the living room sipping a cup of coffee. The twins were still up in their room, hopefully asleep, and she had just fished Colin out of the tub and put him in the spare bedroom after drying him off.
It was a quiet night, nothing going on much in the forest outside. occasionally she could see a zombie wandering through the trees or hear the sound of an enderman teleporting around. but so far nothing had bothered the house or her.
From one of the bookshelves she had picked a book and was reading it as she drank her coffee. it was some sort of teen novel where a girl was lost in the city trying to look for a way to make some money after running from the cops on a false charge. She had just gotten to the part where the girl ran into someone she knew as she was working when there was a knock at the door.
"Looks like she's home" Lora said surprised. Briar said she wouldn't be home until later, maybe even the next day. Shrugging, she put the book down on the arm rest of the chair and walked to the door.
"How w-" she stopped halfway through the sentence with the door wide open. It wasn't Briar on the other side.
Herobrine grinned in the doorway "not who you were expecting?" he asked. Lora took a step back in shock.
"You're not welcome here" She said trying to regain her composure. Her eyes darted around for a weapon she could use. There didn't seem to be much she could use that would actually hurt him.
"Aren't I?" Herobrine asked stepping inside. He moved out of the way and Steve followed him in. He closed the door behind him.
"Both of you quiet" Steve shot a glare at each of them "we don't want the kids to wake up"
Lora nodded still slowly backing away. she was almost to the kitchen door.
"I know, they're pretty heavy sleepers though" Herobrine shrugged "besides, I want to know why Briar isn't here and this girl is" he said stepping towards Lora. Before he could take another she darted into the kitchen and locked to door behind her.
"Great, now you scared her" Steve said crossing his arms and glaring at Herobrine. He only shrugged.
"I'm a terrifying person, it prides me to know I still have it" he smirked.
Steve rolled his eyes "let's just find the stuff we came for and get going. She'll move before we get to her and who knows how long it'll be before we find her again"
"I know" hero snorted "The ropes downstairs. I'll go get the potions" Steve nodded and headed for the steps. Herobrine walked upstairs towards the attic.
Lora listened from the kitchen. intrigued, she grabbed a knife from one of the drawers and followed Steve towards the basement.
Lucky for her, in the chase with the twins they didn't lead her too far down into it. unluckily, she didn't know she to expect an actual dungeon and torture chamber.
Even as she was looking around nervous and watching for traps she could see Steve calmly walking through it all as if it were totally normal for him. She shook her head and tried to catch up. Her plan was simple, get close enough to jump him and get the information she needed. easy right?
She was almost behind him now, hiding behind one of the small walks of a cell. She could hear his footsteps leading away but when she poked her head out to see where he was she couldn't find him.
She crept out quietly and almost immediately after she was forced to the ground. The knife clattered to the floor and was kicked out of reach by a boot. She felt his knee in her back holding her down. with a sigh she stopped, not fighting back.
"Why are you following me?" Steve asked. She tried to shake her head but that kinda hard when your face is shoved into the ground.
"Is that really any of your business?" Lora spat back "get off me"
The knee was pressed in harder and something cold was pushed agains the back of her neck.
"I think it'd be in your best interest to tell me why you were following me" Steve said in a casual tone. Notch, she hasn't ever heard of him being as cold blooded as his brother.
"I was curious" she said annoyed "happy? now get off me!" she tried to push him off. she almost unbalanced him, but whatever type of blade he had pressed against her neck dug down deeper and she felt its prick then warmth creeping across her skin.
"Okay! Okay how about this? You let me go, I leave, you watch the kids and explain to their mom why I'm not here alright?" Lora offered. "Everyone wins"
Steve chuckled and the pressure on her back fell away leaving a weird, ghost feeling. She stood up quickly and turned to face him, one hand going to the back of her neck. When she drew it away there was blood.
"Listen, all I had wanted to know was why you were following me okay?" Steve said cleaning off his knife "I've got a feeling you've dealt with negotiations before though so I'm going to ask another question. answer wrong, you won't have another chance to answer okay?" Lora took a moment before nodding. Steve smirked.
"Why are you babysitting when you're obviously a trained assassin?" he asked. Lora's eyes went wide.
"How'd you-" she stopped stunned.
Steve laughed "I've been attacked before. Trust me, I know" his tone made it seem like he had as much experience- and something along the lines of comfort- that he was calm. as if the whole thought of being attacked daily weren't worrying just normal like walking.
Lora just stared at him.
"Not going to answer?" he asked toying with the blade "or too stunned still? let me guess then. you were hired to come and kill these kids right? but for some reasons you haven't done it yet"
"Can't I have a side job too?" Lora asked seeming a bit moody "I needed the money" she shrugged. Not totally a lie but she did have enough to get by for- about 23 years. Then again you never really know about-
("You're getting off topic")
(Oops. yea, lets get back to the story.)
"Did you? really?" Steve raised an eyebrow at her. Lora just shrugged.
"Could always use the money anyways" she said. "Never know what you'll need after all"
Steve rolled his eyes "Yes, because assassins great paid so little. You're avoiding my question. Why are you here?"
Lora rolled her eyes right back "I was hired to watch them. Their mom went out to see some friends or something and had hired me from town. That's it"
Steve looked her over before nodding.
"Alright" he said finally "You should probably get back to that then"
Lora snorted "Didn't need your approval in the first place bub. You're just there uncle" She held her hand over the wound on her neck. The bleeding had stopped, it wasn't as deep as she had first thought.
Steve shrugged but it was obvious the comment hit him deep. Lora held back a smirk. She always knew how to hit a soft spot, and what softer spot than one of a wanna be father? The sound of someone else walking down towards them snapped Lora out of her moment of glory. Herobrine appeared around the corner and smirked at the sight.
"Having a little trouble there brother?" He asked and crossed his arms. Steve shook his head.
"She just followed me down is all, had a few questions" Steve said shrugging "I've got the rope. You have the potions?"
Herobrine nodded and held up two bottles of silver, almost milky, looking liquid. It looked familliar to Lora but she couldn't place from where.
"Great. We'll have to hurry then" Steve said walking back down the coridor towards him "Those guards might let her out before we get there"
"I doubt it" Herobrine said walking back up. Lora followed the two, listening in interested.
"You never know" Steve said "They're part of that Brotato's army after all"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Herobrine asked stopping "They're loyal followers"
"Oh, that makes so much more sense then" Steve said sarastically "I didn't mean anything by it other than it's one of Sky's friends. They're all pretty crazy"
Herobrine snorted "That they are, but then again, you were clinically insane for a while too" he smirked. Steve punched his arm.
"Because you kept fricken appearing after you died! No one knew you could come back and I was the only one who could see you!" Steve said, slightly mad. Herobrine laughed.
"Exactly" he grinned "I wanted it to be that way"
Lora snorted and Immediatly stopped. The two in front of her stopped and looked back, looked at each other, and nodded. Before she could react Herobrine threw one of the two milky bottles at her.
It exploded in her face and she fell back as her vision swam. she watched the two blurry forms walking towards her. She looked at them confused as they lifted her up and carried her off. She fell into a deep sleep, one thought swimming in her head as she drifted off.
Where was she?
--------------------------
Crystal sat on the bed of the cell looking down at her feet. She sighed, saddness washing over her. What had she done? She'd gotten herself arrested somehow and had no idea what had triggered it.
Trying to talk to the guard was useless, he just ignored her no matter what she tried. The other guards hadn't even walked in since they took the others off and outside she could see the sun coming up over the city. It was a beautiful sight but the veiw she had of it was a little sad. The bar's didn't add anything but sorrow. The door opened suddenly and one of the younger guards walked in.
"There's someone here for her" The guard said looking at Joe. Joe nodded.
"Alright" Joe said standing up. He walked to the cell and, like the others, cuffed Crystal and led her out.
Her heart beat quickened as she walked down the corridor with the guard.
"Who's waiting?" She asked quietly. The guard shrugged. He looked familliar for some reason.
"Just this woman who says she knows you" He said. He sounded familliar too. Something was nagging at the back of her mind that she should know him from somewhere.
"Who is she?" She asked. She needed to keep this conversation going. Something else to give her a clue to who this guy was.
"Just some person" he said shrugging. His helmet tilted to reveal a strand of blond hair. Crystal had to force herself to keep going once seeing it. She realized who it was.
Only once she walked into the waiting room did she relax a bit. The only other person there was a woman who didn't seem much older than Crystal and had bright orange hair and a very green outfit. Her top shirt was a bright green and she had on a brown pair of khakis. It did look good on her though, Crystal had to admit. Not everyone could pull off such a rustic look.
"You must be Crystal" the woman said walking over. She smiled as the guard took off the cuffs and walked away. Crystal watched, half hoping he'd attack right then, half hoping he'd keep walking. The second is what came true.
"You must be tired" Crystal's attention was brought back to the woman who was still smiling. "Why don't we go? My house isn't too far" She started walking to the enterance, looking back once to see if Crystal was following.
She followed, staggering slightly, and soon they were walking down the street. Everything from then was a blur, nothing to be remembered.
----------
Crystal woke up several hours later in complete darkness. Bolting up in the bed she looked around for any sign of light. As her eyes ajusted she saw a small window on the other side of the room covered by curtians. She rubbed her eyes and looked around. Nothing in the room seemed familiar. After a while of searching she was able to find the nightstand and turned on the light.
The room actually seemed pleasent. But she still didn't recognize anything. A poster on the wall she had never seen, the walls painted blue with flower prints.
Carefully, Crystal swung her legs over the side of the bed. The carpet felt weird under her bare feet. Her legs felt weak like she had been asleep for a really long time.
Just as she was standing up there was a knock ok the door and the same redhead from before poked her head into the room. She was smiling and something seemed really similar about her to Crystal.
"Hey, how'd you sleep?" She asked coming in "I was just about to wake you. it's pretty late into the day already"
Crystal rubbed her eyes again as the light flipped on "what do you mean? How late could it be?" she asked sitting in the edge of the bed. The red head came in and set a tray on the edge of the dresser that stood in the corner.
"Late enough that I brought you your lunch" she said with a cherry voice "but I'm guessing you're curious as to where I've brought you. And who I am. And why I would bring you lunch"
Crystal laughed "yea, those would be good questions to have answered" she smiled, feeling happier than she had in a long time "what's your name?" she asked.
The red head smiles "I'm Alex, this is my house, your uncle notch sent me to get you from the prison and I made sandwiches if your interested" she piped.
Crystal looked at her confused "Uncle Notch knew I was there?"
Alex nodded "yep, had he also knew you probably wouldn't want to see your dad or Steve any time soon either" she said. Crystal froze.
"You- you know about that?" She said in almost a whisper "how?"
Alex laughed "well I might've just found out I have a niece so of course I asked around about it" she said. "I never knew Briney would get a wife and a kid again"
Crystal relaxes a bit and looked at her confused. "again?"
Alex smirked like she knew something Crystal didn't "we can talk about that later, right now you have to prepare for your journey back. I have a feeling you'll need to get back quick" she stood up, picked the tray back up, and walked towards the door, stopping to see if Crystal would follow.
Crystal nodded and stood up. The two made their way towards the kitchen.
-----
The next day Crystal set out again towards the fox kingdom. Alex had said it wasn't that far but last night they had just kept talking until the mobs started coming out. Of course, Alex wasn't going to let her go out in the dark, no matter how much she tried to assure her that nothing was going to go wrong. Alex won and Crystal stayed for the night.
Now, on the back of a grey made Alex had lent her, Crystal was finally on her way back to her home. Everything seemed peaceful and the map she had been given was helping a whole lot too.
"Two more chunks and we're there" Crystal thought out loud "I wonder what Kye and Ender have been doing. it feel like I haven't seen them in forever"
The mare whinnied and kept going. She was used to people talking to her like she understood them, and that she cared.
Suddenly she stopped. Crystal looked down at her confused.
"What's wrong?" she asked. the mare looked around, ears perked and alert before going absolutely crazy.
"Whoa!" Crystal barely managed to hang onto the reins. Desperately, she pulled them back, trying to stop the bucking horse. But with one final buck crystal was throne off and to the ground.
She lay there dazed for a moment before the horse bolted. Crystal curled up, desperate not to get trampled, and waited until the thundering footfalls of the terrified horse grew quiet into the distance.
Crystal sat up and looked around, trying to figure out what would scare the horse so bad. There didn't seem to be anything out there that could spook it so easily. Alex had said that was the most gentle one of the herd. One that didn't spook easy.
A twig snapped. Crystal stood up as quick as she could, still slightly dazed. When she saw nothing was there she sighed in relief. It didn't last long though before she heard something flying through the air towards her. She turned around just in time for a potion bottle to hit the side of her head and explode, sending it's moonlight colored contents all over.
"Got her!" a voice cheered. Two figures slowly appeared out of nothing as Crystal crumpled.
Invisibility potion she thought as one of the two caught her. Everything went black before she could do anything else.
----
Crystal yawned and sat up in her bed. A bird flew in front of her windows and she smiled at the sight. it was great to be back home after so much traveling. There was a knock at her door, ripping her from her thoughts.
"Come in" she called with a yawn. Steve smiled and stuck his head in.
"Hey sweetheart" he said "how'd you sleep?"
Crystal smiles back "Great dad"
