Evangeline's POV
I walked home with Brooklynn after our encounter because she was my mate after all.
I told her everything about my dad and my life while she told me hers. We were gone for at least 2 hours at the lake.
"Are you sure you will be ok?" She asked me with the sweetest smile.
"Yeah, he does this every time he gets drunk." I replied and smiled back.
"Okay but I'll be in the bushes outside to protect you, just be careful."
"I will"
I walked into the house and didn't look back. The smell of alcohol and drugs filled my nose as I stumbled backwards. The sight of the house was terrible and I could feel my wolf wanting to get out and get help.
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO COME BACK" I hear as my father comes in the room, anger covered his face. He came up to me and slapped my face, hard. So hard I fell on the floor from the impact. Brooke ran into the room and pinned him to the wall by his neck.
"What the-"
"NEVER TOUCH MY MATE LIKE THAT OR ILL RIP YOU TO SHREDS" Brooke was screaming and I didn't know what to do. As Brooke held him up I punched him in the face with all I had.
"You were never the father you promised you would be."
--------*Flashback*---------
We were losing time.... Her health just... Flopped. My mom was a great woman, very kind. Cancer got a hold of her, that battle didn't last long.
"Daddy.... Why does mommy have wires on her?" I ask. I was about 6, now I'm 17.
"She is sick honey" he replied, his eyes red and sad
"Will she be ok?"
"I don't know.but whatever happens, I promise to be an awesome dad. Okay kiddo?"
"Okay daddy, I love you"
-----*End Of Flashback*------
By now I had tears streaming down my face and my eyes were puffy
"I'm sorry" he said, before pulling out a gun from his back pocket and shooting himself.
My words were replaced with sobs as I fell down to the ground on my knees, praying that he was in a better place....with mother and the people who loved him. He couldn't be without her.
