Chapter 4: Planning

A/N: Alright everyone so I have an announcement that I would like to make before the chapter. So I'm going to be taking a break from this story, and this is purely because of the winner of the last vote. I didn't plan on this story taking place before Volume 1, so a lot of what I had planned went out the window when I saw this. Since at the moment King is only ten when his original age is supposed to be twice that. I just need to take a short break for a while so I can think of some new plans for this story. Also for those of you hoping for a lemon I hate to say this but that's probably not going to happen soon. Since at the moment as I just said King is only ten, anyway sorry for this rather distressing news and hopefully it isn't on break to long

P.O.V. Third

King let out a slight yawn as he woke up and began to stretch seeing that Shadow was still by his side. "Good morning, Shadow," King said as he rose from his bed and began to walk towards his dresser to get some new cloths.

"Good morning, Master," Shadow said as she walked out of the room to give King some privacy while he changed. Shadow stood by his door for a few minutes hearing some ruffling behind the door before it opened and she smiled at him. King walked past her seeing this and continued down the halls. Salem had told King the night before that she had a new assignment for him and that she wanted him well rested.

So King had not only went to bed early that night but he had also told Shadow not to attack him that night as well. As King continued he saw his mother as well as Javelin beside her. "Ah there you are," Salem said as she looked at the male. King nodded hearing this and looked at his mother.

"So mother, what is this assignment that you have for me?" King asked as he looked at the taller figure in front of him. Salem smiled hearing this and looked at the male.

"This job is important and one that I'm sure only you can do. I want you to go to the four Kingdoms and start mapping their layout. Anything that you may find useful to us. I would like for you to spend no more than a month mapping out each kingdom," Salem said as she looked at the male in front of her.

"Understood, is there anything else that I should be aware of?" King said as he looked at the female in front of him. Salem nodded hearing this and turned to the male beside her. "Both Ark and Javelin will be accompanying you on this mission," Salem said as she looked at the male in front of her. King nodded hearing this and turned to leave with Javelin following him following the sound of his footsteps.

"Shadow, go pack some things for me while I find Ark," King said as he looked at the female. When he said this the female nodded before she melted in the shadows that littered the hall and darted down the hall towards King's room. When she did King made a sharp turn and began to walk down the hall towards the training area. The place that King knew Ark spent most of his time at.

When King opened the door he saw Ark standing to the side as he watched two of the others fight. "Ark," King said gaining the male's attention. "It's time to go," King said as he looked at the male before he began to walk away. Ark then began to walk towards the male as he was walking. Ark was being sure to move faster than King but not fast enough to where he would be running.

Before King could say anything else Shadow once again ran up to the male with a smile and held up a small bag for him to take. King of course took the bag and they all continued until they reached the exit. King had already told the Basilisk that his mother had another assignment for him and they he would most likely be leaving the island early so that he could accomplish whatever goal Salem had set for him.

The four then continued to towards their destination until they reached the first kingdom that was near their island. This island happened to be Vale, one that he had been told about by his mother several times because of someone named Ozpin. From what King had gathered about the male he was an old man who used to be a wizard but was quickly losing his power due to unforeseen circumstances.

King then looked into his bag and like he thought Shadow had packed a few materials for mapping and King began to draw a rough outline the buildings that he saw in front of him. King wasn't paying to much attention to the people around him however he then saw a building that had several armed guards around it. Thinking this building was important King turned the page in his book and began to draw the outside before using his semblance to see what the inside of the building looked like, and then began to draw the inside of the building to the best of his ability.

Ark then looked at what the male was drawing and while it wasn't the best it was a lot better than what he was expecting weather this was because of his natural ability or he was using his semblance to make it more accurate Ark couldn't argue with the results. After a few minutes King began to lean back as he looked at the building trying to use his semblance to locate anything of interest in the building.

Noticing the male's expression Shadow moved behind the male and began to stand on her hands and knees. Seeing this King moved back and sat on her beginning to use the female as a chair. "Thank you, Shadow," King said as he looked at the building in front of him before once again continuing to draw.

"Of course master, I take it as a privilege to be used by use in such a way," Shadow said with a smile as King continued to draw. After a few minutes had passed King stood up from the female and once again began to walk down the streets until he once again reached a building that he thought was interesting. The three repeated this process several times until King stopped what he was doing and looked down.

"Interesting," King said as he looked at the ground beneath him.

"What is?" Javelin asked deciding to say his first words to King ever since the two had met the day prior.

"There's a hollow area beneath us. I'm not sure what it's purpose is but it's definitely there," King said as he began to walk down a different path following the underground system that he had just discovered.

"Why is it that you only just now noticed?" Javelin asked as he looked in the direction that King was in.

"I wasn't above it until now," King said as he continued to follow the path hoping for some kind of entry point. After following the path for almost two hours King finally managed to find somewhere that lead to the large area and began to map the area out as well. However as he did King sighed clearly irritated by what he was feeling.

"Something wrong master?" Shadow asked as she looked at the younger male in front of her.

"Mapping the city from underneath it is frustrating to say the least," King said as he continued to draw in the book he had. Shadow seemed a bit distressed hearing this and looked as if she was going to say something before she stopped hearing the sound of footsteps. When the four looked in the direction that it had come from three of them saw a familiar figure as well as four unfamiliar figures.

"I didn't expect to see you of all people here," Cinder said as she looked at the four in front of the male. Hearing the female's voice Javelin relaxed a bit and King looked at the figures behind her. "So these are your new lackies?" King asked as he looked at the black haired female in front of him. Cinder nodded hearing this and gestured to her side.

"Knowing I doubt you've heard of any of them. However I'd like to introduce you to them nonetheless," Cinder said as she looked at figures by her. "I guess I should start with my lackies lacky," Cinder said as she gestured to the young female that had pink and brown hair as well as corresponding eyes.

"This is Neopolitan," Cinder said as she looked at me the female by her.

"Like the ice cream?" King asked as he looked at the female earning him a somewhat eager nod in response. King rolled his eyes hearing this and then turned to the tall male in front of him with orange hair. "Let me guess your name is Sherbet," King said as he looked at the male in front of him earning a somewhat irritated expression from the male and a stiffled laugh from the male with silvery-gray hair.

King then turned to the female with green hair with a smirk. "If that's the case you must be mint chocolate chip," King said once again earning him a slight laugh from Mercury. "What are you laughing at spoon?" King asked as he looked at the male in front of him stopping his laugh short. Seeing that the male was clearly irritating most of her new allies Cinder turned towards the eldest in the group.

"Roman, you said you had another henchmen that we needed to meet with right?" Cinder asked as she looked at the male in front of her.

"Yes, Maverick should meet us at the docks," Roman said as he looked at the female in front of him. Cinder nodded hearing this and they began to leave the underground network that they were in. After they did King continued to walk down the large pathway and continued to draw as much as he could about the city.

Even with the time that Salem had given him King managed to finish mapping out all of Vale within a few days thanks to the underground system he had discovered. When the four came from the system they immediately began to walk through one of the many exits that Vale had so that they could make their way to the next Kingdom. The four stayed mostly quiet except for the occasional question from Shadow trying to make sure that he master was okay.

However despite how much time Salem had given King to complete his task he managed to complete it in nearly a fourth of the time with the except of Atlas which took a bit more time since he was now a wanted criminal on the island. Once he had returned with the book that had several drawings of building and a rough outline of each of the kingdoms Salem smiled as she looked at the male that she was now proud to call her son.

"Good, you've once again not only met my expectations but have surpassed them. Please follow me," Salem said as she began to walk down the hall. King nodded hearing this and began to follow her until they entered the library. When he did he saw one familiar figure as well as one that he hadn't seen before. "I'm sure you're familiar with our good friend Arthur," The female said as she gestured to the male.

"Actually, if you don't mind my lovely queen. I'd prefer to go by Watts from now on," The male said as he looked at the female in front of him. When he said this Salem looked at him a but confused.

"May I ask why?" Salem asked as she looked at the male in front of her.

"Arthur is such a common and rather boring name, while I find Watts to be more sophisticated and refined. I just believe it suits me better than my old name," The male said as he looked at Salem. When he said this he earned a slight scoff from the male beside him.

"Very well then King, I'm sure you're familiar with Watts. Now this is our newest addition Hazel, these two males will be your new teachers," Salem said as she looked at the male the was in front of her.

"Teachers?" King questioned as he looked at the two in front of him.

"Indeed," Salem began as she gestured to the shorter of the two. "Watts will be teaching you the more refined things that you may need to know, such as math, science, and other things that require some form of calculation," Salem said as she gestured to the other male. "While Hazel will teach you more about fighting," Salem said as she looked at the male in front of her.

"Fighting?" King remarked in an almost sarcastic tone, as if he were insulted by the idea. King then turned his attention to the tall male in front of him now starting to become a little skeptical of his mothers plan.

"Don't worry," Hazel said trying to reassure the male. Salem had of course told him that King was a special child who due to his genetics was going to prone to random bursts of rage and bloodlust. "Salem has already warned me that it would be in my best interest not to take you lightly," The male said as he looked at King.

"Indeed, we can't simply toss aside your already rather high kill count. So I indeed alerted him that he is train you not as a child but instead as an equal. It's your choice who you decide to study under first but for the next few years they will be teaching you anything that I think could prove useful to us," Salem said as she looked at the male in front of her. King nodded hearing this as Salem began to walk out of the room and King looked at the two in front of him.

"I think fighting is more  important at the moment," King said as he looked at the two in front of him. Hearing this the male smiled and gave Watts a smirk, much to his annoyance.

"Follow me to the training room and we'll get started," Arthur said as he looked at the child and like Salem walked out of the room. King nodded hearing this and turned to follow the male as he walked down the halls. When the two arrived in the training room they saw Salem as well as a few of her new servants training together. Most likely so that she would know who was the strongest out of all of them.

Among them was a male that King hadn't seen before, however King assumed this male was the one that Roman had been talking about when he first met him. Maverick is his memory served him correctly. A male with long black hair and grey eyes. He was currently standing in front of Roman and managed to easily win. However from what Cinder had seen Roman while the two that he had with him were capable he himself was nothing to be admired when it came to his ability to fight.

"Okay, I think I have an idea about how strong each of you are, now come with me we have some planning to do," Cinder said as she looked at the several figures in front of her. As she said this Cinder looked at the two as she passed them and smiled slightly as she as well as the rest that were associated with her left the room. Hazel and King then walked to the center of the room and the two stared at each other.

"Salem tells me that it'd be smart if I never underestimated you. She says that in terms of raw physical ability you can't be beat but when it come to skill and technique you have a lot of room for improvement. So that's what we'll be focusing on, your technique and ability," Hazel said as he looked at the child in front of him.

King nodded hearing this and looked to the side at the weapons that were available to him. "Actually," Hazel said once again gaining the male's attention. "We won't be using weapons until later. I want you to master hand to hand combat before you start your training with weapons," Hazel said as he looked at the male in front of him. King nodded hearing this and Hazel sighed.

"I also don't want you using your semblance to much. You can still use it when you think it's necessary but I don't want you relying on it as much as you do now," Hazel said as he looked at the child in front of him. When he said as he looked at the male in front of him. When he said this King became visibly upset and took a fighting stance that he saw quite often one that he was told was incredible common.

Hazel sighed seeing this and looked at the child in front of him. It was clear that he had almost no experience with hand to hand combat just from looking at his stance. Hazel then sighed as he charged forward he thought injuring the male first we be a better approach after all if he knew the consequences for his actions he'd be more likely to take his advice when he offered it to him.

Hazel wanted to end it quickly as he lunged forward in an attempt to punch the small male. However King jumped back doing a flip and kicked Hazel in the jaw. Hazel was taken back by this, not because the hit actually hurt but because the male had not only managed to avoid his attack but had also managed to hit him in return. Once Hazel was able to recompose himself he looked at the male in front of him to see that he was once again in the same stance as before.

Hazel smiled seeing this before laughing slightly. If this was how he fought at this young age then given a few years there's no way he couldn't defeat Ozpin! "That's it for the day," Hazel said as he looked at the male in front of him. When he said this King looked at the male a bit confused. "You're clearly leagues above what I was told to expect. I need some time to think of some new training methods for you," Hazel said as he looked at the male in front of him.

King nodded hearing this and began to walk towards the library where he was hoping Watts still was. When he opened the door he saw that Watts had gathered several books as well as several blank pieces of paper and a few pencils. King sighed seeing this and walked towards the male and before Watts said anything King sat down and looked at the male. Watts smiled seeing this and slid one of the books forward.

"How familiar are you with the basics of science?" Watts asked as he looked at the male. King shrugged hearing this and looked at the male. "The basic foundation of science is the study of-" Watts began and King rolled his eyes as the male continued to talk. He could already tell just by how the male was speaking that what he was saying was going to be incredibly boring. King then began to ignore the male and opened the book beginning to read on his own instead.

Watts assuming that he was reading alongside what he was saying continued what he was saying completely unaware that at this point King had completely tuned out everything he was saying. After a few moments Watts let out a sigh and looked at King who was still reading the book in front of him. "As much as I appreciate your enthusiasm, I believe that's enough for today," Watts said as he looked at the child only to receive no reaction from him.

"King," Watts said as he approached the male hoping to get some response from him however this was not the case and he looked at the male. "King," Watts said now much closer to the male and in a different tone of voice than before as he looked at the male in front of him. Now much more irritated than before Watts stepped closer to the male now being within a foot of him. "King I don't know wha-" Watts began stopping short when he realized he couldn't hear anything.

He was speaking and he knew some sound was coming out he could feel his throat vibrating when he talked. He just couldn't hear anything, then Watts noticed how silent it was, there was no wind, no static, just complete silence. Watts then stepped back now concerned by what he was hearing or rather not hearing and began to look around. "I can't believe that-" Watts began only to realize that he could once again hear himself.

Watts then looked at the male in front of him and come closer and once again began to talk only to noticed that he couldn't hear anything. Watts then moved a few inches back until he could once again hear himself talking. Now realizing that King was the source of the silence Watts sighed and moved to the side waving his hand in front of King's face obstructing his view from his book. When he did King turned to look at the male.

"I think that's enough for the day," Watts said as he looked at the male in front of him. King nodded hearing this and folded a page before closing the book. When he did Watts looked at the several books in front of him and noticed that in the few hours that they had King had managed to make his way through a quarter of all the books.

"King," Watts said gaining the males attention. "How did you do that?" Watts asked as he looked at the male in front of him and King shrugged. "I've been able to do that for a while now. I knew how to do it before I came here. It helped me sleep in the streets without hearing all those strange sounds throughout the night," King said as he looked at the male in front of him. Watts nodded hearing this and looked at the male in front of him.

It was clear that he had tuned him out, and while Watts had a good idea as to why he just wanted to confirm his thought. "Sound manipulation," Watts said as King was about to walk out of the room causing the white haired youth to look at him. "What you just did it was sound manipulation, well more specifically it was sound nullification. That's the name of the ability you used to stop listening to me," Watts said as he looked at the male in front of him.

"Oh, I see . . . thank you for the information," King said as he began to walk down the hall towards his room. Watts sighed seeing this, it truly was as he thought. The only reason King had stopped listening to him was because King found him boring or uninteresting. Which meant that now he was going to have to find more unorthodox ways to teach him in order to keep him entertained while he did.

As King walked into his room King looked at the ground behind him where his shadow was and sighed. "I'm sure you know what to do by now," King said as he looked at the ground. When he said this the same silver haired female from before rose from the ground with a smile.

"Of course master!" She said in the same cheery voice much to King's annoyance. King then walked over to his bed and began to lay down with Shadow watching over the male. Then a few minutes after Shadow thought the male had went to sleep her hand returned to it's shadowy form and she attempted to attack the male. However when she did she found that he hand stopped a few inches from King and was pushed back with twice the force that she had tried to attack him with.

Shadow then remembered that this was the same thing King had done in their fight. However as Shadow began to think about all the times she had seen the male fight. He always tried to use this ability, after realizing what he was trying to accomplish it only confused the female. Why would he want to be able to use that ability in his sleep. To her it just didn't make any sense, then again she wasn't human she was just another creature of grimm.

She may not have understood why King wanted to learn how to do this in his sleep, but she did know that he did in fact achieve his goal and it was only because of her that he was able to do so. This fact alone was more than enough to make Shadow happy, knowing that she was able to successfully help King achieve something he had been working on for what she knew was at least a month was more than enough for her.
