Paralogue 10 The Forbidden Cake

Ephraim and (Y/n) switch bodies

This happens after the war ended and right before Ephraim and (Y/n) get married.

(Y/n)'s POV

"I wonder what it's like being a woman..." My husband rambled, standing out on the balcony.

"What the hell Ephraim?!" I facepalmed.

"Aren't you curious of what it's like to be a man?"

"God, why did I fall in love with you?" I sighed, massaging my temples. "Anyway, don't you have to go into the village later today and make a speech?"

"Yeah, I was trying to take my mind off of it...thanks (Y/n)." Ephraim said sarcastically.

"Sorry, are you nervous?"

"Mhm, that's why I'm out here trying to clear my head by getting some fresh air." He replied, shifting his attention back up to the sky dressed with marshmallow like cumulonimbi.

I paced my hand on top of his cold, shaky hand. "Don't be nervous, I'll be standing right beside you."

"Yes...you're right. I appreciate you telling me that, I feel more confident now." The king said as he pulled me in for an embrace.

"I'm glad. Shall we go inside? I'm getting rather cold."

"Alright."

Ephraim's POV

"Milord, it's time." General Seth informed me, as (Y/n) and I stepped out our carriage.

"Alright," I said, walking behind the podium while my audience cheered and chapped.

I surveyed the crowd of Renais citizens. There were a mix of expressions on their faces; some sorrowful, some eager, others with a poker face. Once it got silent, I took a deep breath and began my speech.

"Good Evening citizens of Renais. Today I, King Ephraim of Renais standing alongside my lovely future Queen (Y/n), come before you to inform you of our steps toward restoring not only Renais, but all of Magvel. We will begin here in Renais by restoring the damaged homes, farms, and towns caused by the war. Frelia and Rausten have agreed to help us in this process. Once Renais is restored, we will repay Frelia and Rausten by lending them aid in repairing their lands. Afterwards we will help Jehanna, squelch the rising rebellion in Carsino, and help Grado reform its government."

"Why are we helping Grado, they started this war?!" An angry townsman shouted.

"We were once at peace with Grado when Renais' late King Fado was in power; my wife and I would like for Renais and Grado's relationship to be mended." I replied.

"But who will rule Grado now that both their emperor and prince are no longer breathing?" Another townsman inquired.

"Will Renais conquer Grado?" An elderly man questioned.

"We have no plans to conquer Grado at this time. Grado's new leader will be determined, but fret not people of Renais! The royal council and all of Magvel's rulers are gathering in the future to discuss the Grado's new ruler. I know everyone is saddened and enraged with our former ally Grado, but if we stay this way towards Grado nothing good will come out of it, only more war, famine, destruction, and hatred towards others. So please citizens of Renais remain patient as Magvel's restoration is conducted. I apologize for not being able to address and answer all of your questions; however, in the near future, we will provide answers. Thank you." I concluded as the people clapped for me, and (Y/n) gave me a kiss on my cheek.

Instead of immediately returning home, (Y/n) and I decided to go around the village and speak with people. Many people gave us gifts such as baked goods, money, and weapons. We also gave back to the people of Renais. Our clerics healed the sick and wounded, our chefs cooked meals for those in need, and (Y/n) and I gave out money, new clothes, toys for children, and household items to families in need.

"(Y/n), have you tried some of this cake the old lady in the nursing home made? It's delicious!" I exclaimed.

"I haven't yet, don't eat too much—" My wife started to say, but I interrupted her by shoving cake in her mouth.

"Isn't it good (Y/n)?" I asked.

"Yeah it's really good, I wonder what she put in it? This cake is unusually sweet." The queen said.

"It is, but you're sweeter~"

She laughed,"You're so corny, but I love you Ephraim. It's getting late, I'm going to go to bed now."

"Ok, I am too. Good night my dear."

The Next Day

I awoke to feel something strange on my chest. I feel less muscular today. I didn't workout yesterday, but one day shouldn't make me less muscular. I turned over to see if (Y/n) was awake, and I saw another me instead! I must be dreaming or I'm hungover from last night.

"I wonder where (Y/n) is?" I said aloud.

Why is my voice so high pitched? No way, it can't be! I ran into the bathroom and looked in the mirror.

"I'm in (Y/n)'s body! Wait...I'm in (Y/n)'s body~" I shouted as a mischievous grin formed on my face.

So this is what it's like to have breasts.

"Ow!" I groaned.

Now I see why (Y/n) doesn't want me to squeeze her breasts all the time.

"What's that noise?" I heard my normal sounding voice say.

I guess this means (Y/n) is in my body. I opened the bathroom door. When (Y/n) saw me and looked in the mirror, she screamed in a manly voice.

"I'm you and you're me." I told my wife.

"No, this is a dream. Right? Please tell me it's a dream!" (Y/n) cried.

"Don't cry in my body, it makes me sound weak." I replied.

"Oh God, this is your fault!" (Y/n) yelled at me.

"(Y/n), keep your voice down. Everyone's going to think I'm being mean to you!" I said.

"Sorry. I just can't believe this! How did this happen?!"

"I have no idea. You don't think it was the cake was it?"

"It probably was the cake! It did taste unusually sweet. That old lady...was she a spy? Or perhaps she added the wrong ingredient to the cake?"

"I wonder. However, I guess we'll have to be each other until we can find a way to reverse this."

"What do you have to do today?" My wife asked me, but before I was able to respond Kyle barged in the room.

"My apologies for the intrusion milady, milord. King Ephraim, members of the royal council are here and need to speak with you right now. Lady (Y/n), the dress tailors are here for you to pick out your wedding dress." Kyle said as he escorted (Y/n) out the room, and brought the dress tailors in.

(Y/n)'s POV

This is going to be a long, tiresome day.

"King Ephraim, you're thoughts on this matter?" A member of the royal council asked a question about Grado's new ruler.

It took me awhile to realize he was talking to me. How would Ephraim respond to this?

"Perhaps we should divide up the land amongst the nations that helped squelch this war." I suggested.

"Yet wouldn't that just cause another war? Dividing of Grado would only bring more disunity." The same royal council member responded.

"Milord, are you feeling a bit ill?" General Seth who was sitting next to me asked.

"O-of course not, why would you think that?" I accidentally stuttered.

"Well for one you just stuttered, and two your posture is almost that of a woman." He whispered back to me.

"T-this is nonsense Seth, let's get back to the meeting!" I proclaimed refocusing my attention the royal council members.

1 Hour Later

Seth is on to me. He and Kyle keep silently examining me every time they see me. I'm glad that meeting with the royal council is over, but now I hear the people in the training barracks calling me in to spar, which Ephraim does everyday. If I back out I'll look weak, but if I go in and spar against these guys I'll embarrass Ephraim. God, what should I do?!

"The king is not feeling well today." Seth said as he pulled me away, noticing that I was hesitant.

The general slammed and pinned me into the wall.

"Who are you and what did you do with the king of Renais?" The general said in a stern tone.

"What are you talking about Seth? Unhand me!" I yelled, trying not to let him know what happened.

"My apologies, but I cannot believe a word that you say. What kind of dark magic did you use to impersonate King Ephraim?!" The general said as he unsheathed his sword. "Answer me!" He demanded.

"Okay, okay I'll tell you what happened. I'm (Y/n), the future queen of Renais. I know this is hard to swallow, but Ephraim and I switched bodies after eating some cake given to us by an elderly woman after Ephraim gave his speech." I said.

The general was silent and examined me before answering me. "Your eyes don't lie... my apologies lady (Y/n). Who is this woman? We need to find her." He sighed unpinning me from the wall.

"I know not of her name, but I remember where she lives." I told the now at ease general.

"I see...then we should go at once into the village and imprison this witch!"

"Right, I'll go get Ephraim."

Ephraim's POV

"Lady (Y/n) let me take your measurements," A group of ladies said as the formed a circle around me.

"U-uh okay," I replied as they unexpectedly lifted my shirt up. "W-what are you doing?!" I nervously asked.

"We're taking your measurements again, to make sure they are accurate. Remember the last time we came over last week, you asked us to retake your measurements." They responded.

"Oh...I see."

It feels so strange being surrounded by women who are touching me. This is so boring, I'd rather be fighting.

"Okay Lady (Y/n) try this on!" One of the tailors said, presenting me with a white dress.

"Oh, it's going to look so good on you Lady (Y/n)! The king is going to melt when he sees you on your wedding day!" Other one of the woman squealed.

"Fortunate are you to be betrothed to King Ephraim, whom I've dearly longed for— oh for years thine heart fancied his! Ah! But you mustn't utter words about my former affection his majesty; thou would embarrass a merely seamstress such as I!" A woman around my age proclaimed.

"Have you no dignity?! Here stands are future queen, yet you desire her majesty's husband? Treason!" The older tailor scolded her colleague. "My apologies Lady (Y/n), if you would please garb yourself in this dress."

"...Alright," I hesitantly replied.

Wearing a dress actually isn't that bad, it's surprisingly comfortable not wearing pants that sometimes chafe my legs. However, it is would be a little hard to fight in.

"Oh, how divine it looks on you Milady! Do you fancy it?" The women asked me.

God, I hope (Y/n) will like it.

"It looks good; however, this is not suitable for fighting in." I replied forgetting that (Y/n) probably wouldn't respond like this.

"Fight in? With all due respect Milady, I doubt you'll be participating in any feuds."

"Plus you have King Ephraim to protect you with his lance and combat skills if any trouble arises!"

"That is true, but
