Chapter 44

Jenna

The past few weeks have been amazing. I feel like I don't have a care in the world; everything is going so well. Tanner and I can now do normal things that couples would do since we aren't worried about who sees us together.

We can walk down the street holding hands, go out to a romantic dinner, kiss each other whenever the mood strikes. And we have. We were the talk of the media for a while after the first photo of us came out.

Someone snapped a candid shot of us sharing a kiss inside a nice restaurant when we were on a date. The headlines speculated about how long we've been together away from the public eye since we looked so cozy. Some said we secretly got married, and that is why he's been relatively dull since moving to the city. Others said we were bound to crash and burn soon.

Most just said the former stud playboy was now off the market, sorry ladies. I liked those the most. Tanner just ignored all of them, saying he didn't care what they said about him anymore- that the only opinion of our relationship that mattered to him was mine.

Man, I love him!

We must have been too boring for the tabloids after the first couple of weeks, though. They seemed to have shifted focus to Damien and Ben, the new guy on the team. Unlike us, those two were always out at some hip new venue partying it up, arms wrapped around multiple scantily-clad women.

Compared to that, Tanner and I must have looked like some old-fashioned couple from the 50s, not that we minded in the least. We weren't looking for attention; we just wanted to be us- in public and in private.

The stories did gift us one fantastic thing, though, Tanner's gaggle of fangirls suddenly dissipated into something much less irritating. Instead of hoards of women coming up to him, looking for attention or grabbing all over him, he would now just have the occasional fangirl who wanted a pic or an autograph.

Done were the days of women pouncing on him, trying to steal a kiss or grab his ass. I think they found me intimidating for some reason. That could be because someone leaked a story to the press about the incident with Val and Lindsey at the bar the night that Lindsey slapped her. People started to speculate that it was actually me that hit Val and warned away potential homewreckers from Tanner. According to speculation, I would clock any woman who got too close.

I didn't correct it. I figured if that's what it took to keep the more desperate women away, then I'd let them assume it would be bad for their health. I'd let them think that I was secretly some badass chick with possessive tendencies. Come near my man, if you dare.

Luckily none of my bosses paid any attention to the tabloids, so my job was not in jeopardy due to the fanciful stories. And Tanner was so happy to let everyone know he was taken by me at every chance he got. He wanted to shout it from the rooftops. So, one night he did.

That night, we made dinner- mostly me, but Tanner helped. All while cuddling up behind me, whispering sweet nothings in my ear, kissing me, and tempting me with his sinful hands as I tried to concentrate on adding ingredients. I nearly burned the sauce I was making twice because the man couldn't keep his hands or his lips to himself.

When our meal was nearly prepared, he turned off the burners and slid the straps of my cami off my shoulders, insisting he wanted dessert before dinner. One thing led to another, and I found myself bent over his couch as he ate his dessert before plunging into me as my hands gripped tightly onto the sofa for support.

Needless to say, we had to reheat our meal by the time dessert was through.

After that, we climbed to the roof of his building and watched the stars. We held each other close as we soaked in the view above us. It was beautiful, sitting under the stary night sky, being held in the arms of the man that I love. It was something I thought we'd enjoy many more times to come.

His lips grazed just under my ear before he nuzzled his face into my neck. "I want the world the know you're mine, Jenna."

"I do too, baby."

Then, he suddenly released his hold on me, walking to the edge of the rooftop. He cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted to the world, "I, Tanner Joseph Levine am crazy in love with Jenna Lee Taylor. And she is all mine!"

I laughed at his outburst and joined him at the edge. The look of pure joy he held made me feel so weightless and carefree. It was like seeing a kid opening up presents on Christmas day to find they got everything they asked for and then some. He didn't have a care in the world, and we were free to just enjoy life to its fullest; however we saw fit.

I grabbed his face and pulled him closer to me. Then I kissed him sweetly before cupping my hands around my mouth. I shouted, "I, Jenna Lee Taylor, love Tanner Joseph Levine with all my heart!"

I turned to Tanner, adding, "And he's mine, all mine."

Tanner beamed at me and drew me close as he kissed me tenderly and softly said, "I'll love you forever, Jenna."

I smiled at him. "Forever."

I kissed him again, this time with more fervor, immediately joining our tongues in their sensual dance as we made our way back to his apartment.

We left a trail of clothes from his front door to his bed as our passion for one another boiled over. Once wasn't enough; we wanted a second helping of dessert. So, we helped ourselves as he crawled between my legs and loved me slowly for the next three hours.

The way he loves me, physically, emotionally, spiritually, is unlike anything I've ever experienced or heard about. He sets my soul on fire in ways I could never have imagined. The love I feel for him burns so hot, so passionately that I think no one else could possibly understand.

It was so unexpected, so strange at first, sorting out my feelings for this remarkable man. I still can't believe it's real sometimes. Tanner has shown me what it's like to be adored, worshiped, loved unconditionally. It's like a fairy tale- my very own living, breathing fairy tale. And Tanner is my prince charming.

~

Walking into work one day, I had a strange feeling that I was being watched. It was one of those times where chills just run down your spine, and your senses are all on overload. The media had still been following us around trying to get a hot new scoop on Tanner and my relationship, so I shrugged it off as paparazzi or someone trying to get a candid shot for whatever story they were cooking up.

~

Then, after work, the same thing happened. Only, it was later in the day and darker outside, so my creep-o-meter was maxed out. I tried to shake the feeling and hurried home. I told Tanner about it when I arrived, and he told me the same thing happened to him the other day. He said it was just paparazzi trying to get a juicy scoop, and I shouldn't worry myself with what they were trying to do.

He then spent the rest of the evening finding new ways to take my mind off the incident. And man, oh, man, did it work.

It worked. All. Night. Long.
