Chapter 9: Worries And Unwanted Surprises

"Hilary, I'm sorry ok. I'm not going to lie, I did forget that we made plans but forgive me. Lets go out today, after school."

Hilary continued to ignore me, drawing on the back of her exercise book. We were having lunch and Hilary was angry with me because we made plans to meet up but I forgot about it and was at Charilot.

"Please Hilary." I begged, feeling desperate.

She continued to ignore me. Just then Davis walked up to us.

"Hello ladies." He greeted, giving Hilary a kiss on the cheek and sitting next to her.

She gave him a bright smile. "Hi."

"Hilary is ignoring me." I pouted.

Davis chuckled. "You did ditch her."

I gasped. "She told you."

Davis grinned, putting his arms around her shoulder. "She texted me and we decided to watch a movie cause you were a no show."

I stuck my tongue out at him, pretending to be mad at him. Truthfully I was happy. Hilary needed someone like him in her life. Especially since her two best friends were keeping a big secret from her.

Hilary sighed. "You're forgiven."

I squealed. "Yay. Thank you! You're the best!"

Hilary rolled her eyes. "Ya, ya I know I am. But you owe me."

I eagerly nodded. "Anything."

Hilary smiled brightly. "Lets all hang out tomorrow. It's Saturday and I have nothing to do."

"Sure but what do you mean lets 'all' hang out. Who else?"

"You and I of course and Davis, Gomin and Danny can join us."

I smiled, happy at the thought. "That's a great idea. I'll tell them later."

Hilary nodded and turned her attention to Davis. "Do you wanna join us?"

Davis chuckled. "Always."

Hilary smiled at him. "Great."

I smiled, amused at the two of them. I looked at my watch and almost choked. I started gathering my stuff in a hurry, almost spilling my soda.

"Guys, I'm so sorry but I have to go now. I promised Danny I'd help him with math. He has a test."

Hilary and Davis nodded. "Later." Hilary called out.

I started walking around the campus, looking for Danny when Gomin found me.

"Hi Kiki, what you doing?" he asked.

I groaned. "Don't call me that!"

"But it's such a cute name!" Gomin argued.

I stopped walking and stared at him. "You're such a kid."

Gomin rolled his eyes. "You say it like its a bad thing."

I shook my head, amused.

"So who are you looking for?" Gomin asked, as I continued to search for Danny.

"Danny."

Gomin groaned. "Why?"

I rolled my eyes. "Why are you always against him. He's our friend!"

Gomin shrugged. "Maybe he sees someone as more than a friend."

I stopped walking once again, shocked. Then I rolled my eyes, laughing. "Well it ain't me so it must be you."

Gomin gave me a pointed look. "Anyway, why are you looking for him?"

"He needs help with math. He has a test."

Gomin snorted. "He can manage. Lets go out and eat."

I have Gomin a pointed look. "I'm not ditching Danny, Gomin. If you want, you can join us."

"I'd rather not." And with that Gomin walked away.

I shook my head, confused. Just then I spotted Danny. He was sitting on the floor, his math book open on his lap while he freaked out.

I chuckled, walking up to him. He looked up at me and smiled.

"At last! I need your help."

I laughed, amused. "Hi to you too."

"I never said hi." he replied, a gleam in his eyes.

I rolled my eyes. "Well, it looks like I'm not needed here." I said.

"No no. I'm sorry. Hi Mickey. Missed you."

I laughed. "Lets see what we have here." I said, taking a seat next to him and taking his math book.

**********

I picked up a rock and tried to skip it on the river. I was walking around Carsim territory at my favorite place. It was almost sunset and it was a beautiful day.

No wonder this was where my Door opens. I absolutely loved this place. It was where I usually came to think about things and when life is becoming to hard to bare.

I picked up another rock and tried to skip it, failing miserably.

"Wow, you're horrid at this." A voice called out, startling me.

I quickly looked behind me and spotted Kasdar leaning against a tree, a smirk in place.

"You scared me!" I accused.

Kasdar chuckled, pushing himself off the tree and walking towards me. He picked up a rock and threw it. It skipped three times before disappearing.

"Show off." I muttered.

He heard me and smirked. "It's called talent."

"Whatever. What are you doing here?"

Kasdar shrugged. "I was walking by and spotted you."

I nodded. "For a second there I thought you were stalking me."

Kasdar cocked an eye brow. "Really?"

I nodded. "Really." I replied, winking at him.

Kasdar shook his head and took a seat on the ground. "So why are you here?"

I shrugged. "This is where my Door opens. It's my favorite place."

Kasdar nodded, looking around. "I can see why you like this place."

We sat in complete silence for a couple of minutes. It wasn't an awkward silence but a comfortable one.

"So what's your story?"

"Hmm?" Kasdar questioned.

"I mean where were you before you came here?"

Kasdar glanced at me. "Well, I lived with my parents here until they were killed. Then I went to live with the humans. Until now."

I nodded.

"We all know your story." Kasdar said, smirking.

I looked him. "Really?"

"Sixth child. A curse or a gift. Freed her siblings. Betrayed by her brother. Sister who died."

I stared at Kasdar, shocked at his bluntness. It wasn't like Starks playful, funny bluntness but a rude one.

I quickly looked away, tears filling my eyes. Why did he have to be such a jerk?

"What's wrong? Are you about to....cry?"

I shook my head. "You're unbelievable."

Kasdar shrugged. "I don't think you should mourn for the dead. It's not worth it."

I looked at him, bewildered. "How can you say that!?" I demanded.

"It's the truth. People die everyday. It hurts but you should get over it. It's life and last time I checked, life wasn't fair."

I shook my head. "You're a jerk." And with that, I left him sitting there, angry and hurt.

*********

"I need you to go and get food."

I turned towards Danny, eye brows raised.

"Excuse me?"

"I need you to get me food." Danny repeated.

I scoffed. "Get it your self."

Danny rolled his eyes. "Seriously, you're so lazy! Can't you just walk to the kitchen?"

"Why can't you?" I asked.

Danny pouted. "This is child abusive."

I rolled my eyes. "Such a drama queen." I muttered, getting up.

"Yay thanks."

"Who said I was getting you anything?" I teased.

"Please?"

I sighed. "Fiiiine. Cause I'm the best."

"That you are." Danny chuckled.

I walked to my kitchen and opened the fridge. I was going through my options when someone else walked in. I looked up and spotted Janet.

"What is that?" I asked, dumbfounded.

"What is what?" she asked.

"What's that on your face?"

Janet rolled her eyes. "It's called makeup. The thing you put on your face sometimes."

I shook my head. "The thing I put on my face, that's makeup. That." I started, pointing at her face. "is not makeup. You look like a clown, Janet."

Janet huffed. "I don't need your opinion."

"Dude if you wanted to put makeup on you could have asked me to do it for you. And besides, you're only 14. Why do you even need it?" I questioned, taking out two granola bars and Cheetos.

Janet shrugged. "Wanted to try something new."

I looked at Janet, worried. She's been acting completely out of character.

"Janet, what's going on with you?"

"I don't understand what you mean."

I clenched my fists, trying not to yell at her. "Where's Jace?"

Janet shrugged. "Beats me."

I rolled my eyes. "Wow. Ok, call me when you stop acting like this."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Janet demanded.

"Call me when you stop acting like a wannabe." And with that I left.

********

"Jace!" I called out.

When I didn't hear a response, I went upstairs to his room.

"Jace. Can I come in?" I asked.

"Sure." he called out.

I opened the door to find Jace doing his homework.

"What's up?" he asked.

"Janet is getting way out of hand." I stated, taking a seat on the floor.

He sighed and turned towards me, homework completely forgotten.

"You saw the makeup?"

I nodded. "What's gotten into her!"

Jace shook his head. "Where is she now?"

"She went out with her new friends." I said, disgusted.

Jace looked at the floor but not before I saw the hurt in his eyes.

I sighed. "Jace, why don't you go out? Make friends?"

Jace shrugged. "Nah, it's cool." he replied, going back to his homework.

I rolled my eyes and got up. "No it's not cool!" I said, closing his book.

Jace glared at me. "What do you want me to do?"

I shrugged. "Go to the movies. Play arcade games. Make friends."

Have groaned. "Will you leave if I promise I'll do that?"

I gave him a huge smile. "Yup."

*********

"Go fish." I said.

"Liar!" Gomin accused.

"What?! I am not lying!"

Danny sighed. "Ya you are."

"Are you going against me on this?! I am not lying!" I defended myself.

Danny raised an eye brow. "Really?"

"Yes really!"

Gomin smirked. "So you wouldn't mind if I called Rodger to check your cards."

I stiffened. "Fine! Here you go!" I said, throwing him the card.

Gomin chuckled. "I always win at every game."

I rolled my eyes. "I'm done playing." I said, throwing my cards down on the floor.

Just then Chase walked in followed by...... Kasdar.

"What are you doing here!?" I demanded.

Kasdar chuckled. "Nice to see you too."

I huffed. "Whatever."

Chase looked at me, confused. "We have a group project."

I raised an eye brow. "So?"

"So Kameron, Kasdar and I are in the same group and we're here to get started." Chase explained.

"Oh." I replied, realizing that Kasdar was the same age as Chase and Kameron.

"Well Kameron is in his room." Danny said.

"Thanks." Chase said, walking away. Kasdar followed him but not before throwing me a wink.

I rolled my eyes as the boys left. "What's his deal?"

Gomin and Danny shrugged.

Gomin got up and stretched. "I have to go. Mom and dad said they wanted me home early. Planning on going out to eat."

"Back on earth?" I asked.

Gomin nodded. "Yup. They found this new restaurant."

"Cool have fun."

Danny got up as well. "I should be going too."

I was about to get up to take Danny home when I thought of something.

"Oh Danny, I can't go now cause I have something important to do. Gomin can take you." I said.

Danny looked at Gomin. "Is that ok with you?"

Gomin shrugged. "Fine by me."

They waved goodbye and left. I shook me head, confused. Those two are always fighting but other times they act like they're buddies. I mean, I'm not complaining but they confuse me.

"Hello? Anyone home?" A voice startled me.

I got up and got out of the main room to the front door to find Jemin.

"Jemin!" I called out in surprise. "I haven't seen you in a while."

Jemin chuckled. "I know. I came here for a visit and to check how you were doing."

I smiled. "Please come in. Would you like a cup to tea? Brownies?" I offered, knowing he had a soft spot for the two.

Jemin smiled. "Don't mind if I do."

We walked towards the kitchen. As I prepared the food, he asked. "How's your magic coming along?"

"It's great."

"Have you been practicing?"

I didn't answer. Truth is I never use it. It just brings back bad memories.

"A little." I lied.

"Uh ok. Well it's fine. What do you say we meet up soon and I can teach you some more?" Jemin asked.

"That would be great!" I said, placing the brownies and tea on the kitchen counter. I took a seat opposite to Jemin.

"So any news on the break in?" I asked Jemin.

He was one of the few people that were told about the recent break in that occurred during the meeting.

Jemin shook his head, taking a bite of his brownie. "Nope. The person was very slick, I tell you. A professional!"

I nodded. "That's horrible. I mean, what if this happens again? And why would she want to get in the room?"

Jemin shrugged. "I have no clue. Maybe she was trying to steal The Orb."

"But why? What use would it do for her?"

"Maybe someone sent her?"

"Like who?"

Jemin had no answer to this. But all I've been able to think about was what if King Jared sent her. What if Robby was behind this?

"Any luck trying to find the Damtals and Maligns?" I asked.

Jemin sighed. "There is no sign of them anywhere. It's like they completely vanished.

I nodded.

"By the way Mickey, you still have the bracelet and the book right?"

"Of course I do! Why would you ask that?"

"No reason. Just making sure. You know how dangerous they are if they fall into the wrong hands." Jemin said. But I could tell there was something he was hiding.

"Well you don't need to worry. It's safe." I assured him.

I hadn't told anyone where I kept the book and bracelet. But I hide it in my closet in a magic box. I though of the idea when Jemin showed me how to make items magical. So I took a box and put a spell on it. No one can open it other than me.

"Well I best be on my way! Thanks for the snack." Jemin thanked me.

"No problem but Jemin, is there something you're not telling me?" I asked. I could see the worry on his face.

"I'm not hiding anything. I was just making sure that its safe."

"It is safe! You don't need to worry."

I don't know if it was a trick of the light but Jemin looked even more worried when I said that.

"Ok then. Well bye." He left without waiting for a reply. I shook my head and shrugged off his weird behavior.

I decided to take a nap because I felt a headache coming on.

I slowly made my way to my room, lost in thought. I opened the door and closed it behind me.

And then I froze. Because sitting there, on my bed was a letter. A letter that was the same as the ones I got before by the person that betrayed us. A letter that I was so familiar with, that I knew it was from him without even reading it.

Robby's back

🔸🔸****🔸🔸
(A/N). Yes I'm a horrid person! I haven't updated for twelve days (yes, I've been counting). I was just sidetracked with school and my other book. But now I finished the other book, True Family so this book is my top priority and I won't start another one until I'm done with this one!

Hope you liked this chapter. Until next time, take care❤
