Chapter 12: Balls And Intruders
I was sitting on the floor, reading a book. Sinaya, Danny and Gomin were also there doing there on thing.
"Did you get a dress for the ball?" Gomin asked.
I looked up from my book. "Ya. Did you?"
Gomin rolled his eyes. "Yes, Mickey I got a dress for the dance." He replied sarcastically.
"Oh you know what I mean."
Gomin chuckled. "Ya. Danny and I went to the mall and bought something decent."
My eyes grew wide and Gomins face went pale as he realized what he said.
"You. Went. To. The. Mall. Without. Me." I slowly said through clenched teeth.
Danny looked helpless and Gomin looked about ready to jump off a roof.
Sinaya chuckled. "Oh you guys are so dead."
I rolled my eyes at Sinaya then glared back at the boys. "I can't believe you guys went." Then I smirked. "I knew you guys didn't dislike each other!"
Gomin scoffed. "Believe whatever you want."
"I will." I replied.
Sinaya looked at Gomin and Danny. "Who are you guys taking to the dance tomorrow?"
Danny and Gomin looked at each other than at me.
Gomin shrugged. "We decided to go alone. So I guess it can be like a group thing with Danny, me and Mickey."
"Actually I'm going with Kasdar." I stated.
"WHAT?" The boys simultaneously replied.
Sinaya chuckled. "Good luck little sis, I'm out of here." She got up and left.
I frowned. What was that supposed to mean?
Gomin glared at me. "Why would you go with him? I thought you hated the guy?"
I scrunched my eye brows together, confused. "I can't go to the dance on my own."
Danny glared at me. "I could have taken you!"
I raised my eye brow at him which made him blush. "Well, you didn't ask!"
"Whatever." he muttered.
"I don't get why you guys are angry with me!"
"Leave it." Gomin said. Then turned back to Danny. "Wanna play another game?"
Danny shook his head. "I'd better head home. My family will wonder where I am."
"I'll take you." I said.
Gomin looked at Danny. "Nah it's fine. I'll take him."
"Uh-ok?"
They left without saying bye.

"Rodger, I'm busy today. It's the ball, remember?" I said, balancing my phone between my shoulder and ear as I tried to paint my nails.
"Oh I forgot! Do you think Sinaya would come with me? I need someone to come with me." Rodger said.
"Ask her. I'm sure she'd love to accompany you on your fishing trip." I replied sarcastically.
"Do I hear sarcasm?"
I rolled my eyes even though I knew he couldn't see me. "Anyway, have fun fishing."
Rodger chuckled. "Thanks. Later." And then he hung up.
I carefully removed my phone and looked at my finished nails, admiring them.
Someone knocked on the door and opened it without waiting for an answer.
"You know after you knock, you should wait until someone allows you to enter." I said to Sinaya.
Sinaya rolled her eyes, sitting on my bed. "You should get ready, the dance will start soon."
"I am getting ready. Oh and by the way, expect a call from Rodger asking you to go fishing."
Sinaya glared at me. "Your kidding."
"Nope. I told him I was busy and so he said he would ask you."
"Ugh! Fine, I'll go."
"Really?" I replied, shocked.
Sinaya shrugged. "I miss spending time with him anyway."
Just then her phone started ringing.
"Have fun." I smirked, knowing it was Rodger.
She stuck out her tongue and answered her phone. "Hey, Rodg."
I silently laughed as Sinaya left.
I got up and decided to put on my dress. It was dark blue and had a strap on only one side.
After putting on my dress and high heels, I looked at the mirror and cringed. My hair.
I'd hoped that when I grew older, it would be more tame but I was disappointed to find that that was impossible.
I sighed and decided to let it free in its natural curls.
After I was done, I went downstairs. I heard voices coming from the main room so I made my way there.
Kameron, Danny, Gomin, Livy, Kasey and Kasdar were all there, chatting away.
The girls looked elegant in their dresses and the boys looked handsome. I chuckled slightly noticing how uncomfortable Danny looked.
"Hey guys." I called out.
Everyone turned my way. The girls smiled and gave me a thumps up and Kameron said. "You look pretty."
I chuckled. "Not so bad yourself."
Kameron winked at me. I looked at Kasdar and saw him with his mouth slightly open. When he noticed I was looking, he coughed and said.
"I like your dress."
I laughed. "Thanks."
Gomin scoffed. "You look beautiful, Mickey."
I blushed. I looked at Danny who was blushing. I scrunched my eye brows and he blushed even more.
"Maybe-uh-we should, you know, go now." Danny said.
Livy nodded. "Let's go."
"Wait Kasey, who are you going with?" Kameron asked, holding Livy's hand.
Kasey smiled. "This guy named Trace. He said he'd meet me at the ball."
Kasdar groaned while everyone else nodded. We decided it was time to go to the ball.
**********
Everyone got out of the vehicle, looking at the school.
Kasdar offered me his arms and I linked it, and together we entered the building.
As always, the school out done it self. The school was decorated to look like a scene from Cinderella. It was a ball after all.
I heard Gomin whistle softly. "They never cease to amaze."
Danny looked around, taking everything in. I wouldn't blame him, he doesn't usually see that many magical things. But here he was surrounded with floating candle lights and glasses of drinks that never runs out.
"This is crazy!" he exclaimed.
I laughed. "Let's go and have fun then." I declared.
Kasdar groaned. "Why did I agree to do this?"
I punched him lightly on the shoulder. "Come on, stop being a baby."
We walked into the main room where people were dancing and chatting. Laughter could be heard and the environment was a relaxed one.
I smiled. It was never like this before because of the Maligns and Damtals that attended school here but ever since their disappearance, there weren't many problems.
I spotted Kasey with a guy whom I assumed would be Trace.
"Look, there's Kasey." I told Kasdar.
Kasdar looked towards the direction I was pointing at then clenched his teeth. "Whose the guy?"
"I'm guessing that's Trace." I replied.
Kasdar growled. "After I'm done with him, there won't be a trace of him left." And with that he walked towards the two.
I chuckled and walked towards the snack bar. I picked up a chocolate bar and started munching.
"Hi Mickey."
I turned towards the person who greeted me and spotted Chase.
"Hey Chase. How are you doing?"
Chase gave me a small smile. "Good."
"I'm amazed you showed up but I'm happy you did."
Ever since Kate's death, Chase never attended parties or balls.
Chase shrugged. "My mom forced me to come. But I wasn't bringing a date no matter how much she insisted."
I gave him a sympathetic smile. "You know it's your last year at school. You should enjoy it before you go to collage."
Chase shrugged. "I don't really care. And besides, I'm moving to Earth when I finish school here."
I almost chocked on my chocolate. "What?! Why?"
Chase gave me a sad smile. "Too much memories."
I was about to reply when someone interrupted me.
"Chase, hey. I'm so glad you came."
I clenched my teeth, irritated beyond belief.
Tiffany walked towards Chase, completely ignoring me which I was fine with.
Chase gave her a tight smile. "Actually I was just leaving."
Tiffany did her irritating pout. "Oh come on. One dance?"
Chase glared at her. "Leave me alone!" And he walked away.
I raised my eye brow, shocked. I've never seen Chase act mean to anyone. I guess Tiffany really made him mad, especially after that comment she made at Sinayas birthday.
Tiffany frowned then turned towards me and glared.
"What?" I asked.
"What do you mean what? I didn't talk to you!"
"Then why are you looking at me like I did something wrong?" I demanded.
Tiffany scoffed and flipped her hair over her shoulders. "You know he will be mine. Your sister is dead, he'll need to get someone else eventually."
I clenched my fist, ready to punch her face. That's when I felt a hand on mine.
I looked up and looked at Danny. He slowly shook his head. I took a deep breath and looked at Tiffany.
"Even if he does get married, it'll never be you." And with that I walked away.
***********
I laughed as we entered the main room, tired but happy.
We had been at the ball for more than three hours, laughing and dancing. We dropped Livy and Kasey and Kasdar home and now it was just Kameron, Danny, Gomin and myself.
"Guys, I'm exhausted. I'm going to bed." Kameron declared.
I nodded. "I'll see you some other time. Gomin and I will drop off Danny and we have class tomorrow so we won't come back for a few days."
Kameron gave me a hug and said bye to the boys and left.
"Give me a second and let me change, I'll be right back." I said to the boys.
I went to my room and slowly opened the door. It was dark and I searched the wall to find the switch. Finally I found it and turned it on.
I took a step towards my bed and froze at the sight in front of me.
There was a girl dressed all in black, her face covered except for her eyes.
And I would never forget those eyes. They were red, completely red. It was the mystery girl that broke in during the meeting.
We looked at each other, both frozen in place. Then she smiled. I couldn't see her lips but I knew she smirked. Then she gave me a wink and jumped out my window.
I raced towards the window and looked out to see the mysterious figure leap from roof to roof.
My heart started to race. What was she doing in my room? She must have been looking for something, since my clothes were thrown everywhere.
But what could she be looking for in my room that could be important?
Then my vision blurred. The box with The Great Book and bracelet.
