Chapter 11: Dates For Dances
"But I wanna go!"
"Then go!"
"I want you to come with me though. It'll be fun."
I rolled my eyes, tired about hearing Kasey and Kasdar argue about this for the thousandth time.
"He doesn't have to come. It'll be for the best." I said, flipping through the book I was reading.
Kasdar smirked at me. "I know you want me to take you to the ball."
I rolled my eyes. "I'll take my chances with a troll instead."
The school that my siblings go to was hosting a ball. It wasn't a must to attend and Kasdar didn't want to go but Kasey was forcing him.
Gomin and Danny continued to play X-box, yelling and trying to beat one another.
"I don't see why girls make it such a big deal!" Gomin commented.
Kameron shrugged. "I'll go. It's my last year in school."
"Exactly! Even ours Kasdar, come on!" Kasey begged.
Kasdar rolled his eyes. "Fine whatever."
Kasey squealed, happy. "Yay, thanks."
"I'm not doing it for you!" Kasdar replied.
I smiled. I noticed that Kasdar was rude and mean to anyone and everyone except Kasey. He'd do anything for her but die before admitting it.
Danny groaned in defeat as Gomin yelled in victory.
"I win at everything." Gomin declared as Danny threw away the controller.
"Re-match?" Danny demanded.
Gomin smirked. "Nope."
"Afraid of losing?" Danny taunted.
Gomin gave him a deadly look. "No, I just don't wanna win again. I'm embarrassed on your behalf."
"Ok enough." I announced, rolling my eyes.
"So Mickey, are you going?" Kasey asked.
"But I don't even go to school with you guys?" I said.
Kameron laughed. "So what? You're the princess and its an open invitation."
I shrugged. "Are you guys going?" I asked Gomin and Danny.
"I'll go. I miss my buds back at school." Gomin said.
Danny scoffed. "I'm sure they don't return the favor."
I laughed. Danny is never rude except when Gomin beats him at anything.
Just then Tori walked in. "Hi guys, guess what?" She said, walking in and taking a seat on the coach like she lived here.
I saw the look of annoyance on Kamerons face. I knew how he felt.
"What?" Kasdar asked with a bored expression.
"I got my job back at Mama Tessa's Cookie Shop." Tori announced.
"That's great." Kasey replied.
An uncomfortable silence fell. I mean, she just reminded us how she took the bracelet, hid it the the shop then left.
"Anyway, I need you two home now." Tori said, getting up and pointing at Kasdar and Kasey.
Kasdar yawned. "But I'm comfortable here."
"Well then, sucks to be you! Now let's go." Tori said.
Kasdar rolled his eyes and got up. He gave a short nod and followed Tori out. Kasey gave us a smile before leaving.
"I don't like Tori." Gomin said.
I scoffed. "I don't like Kasdar."
"But Kasey seems really sweet." Danny continued.
Kameron got up. "Well I'm off."
"Where are you going?" I asked.
He shrugged. "I have to ask someone to go to the ball with me. Better hurry before Livy is taken." He sent me a wink and left.
I chuckled, beyond happy. It was these rare moments I miss. When Kameron was truly ok and his main worry was impressing Livy and trying not to get pranked by Kate.
"So who will you be taking?" I asked Gomin, wiggling my eye brow.
Gomin laughed. "I don't know." he replied. "But I'll probably go alone. No one can handle this much awesomeness."
I rolled my eyes. I turned towards Danny. "What about you?"
Danny looked at me, shocked "I'm not going."
"Why not?" I asked.
"Because I don't go to school here and I'm not a part of this world." He replied.
I shook my head, amused. "It's an open invitation. And everyone loves you!"
"Not everyone." I heard Gomin mutter.
"Anyway who will you take?" I asked again.
"Probably go alone." He replied, not looking at me.
"You can't go to a ball by yourself." I said.
"What about you then?" Gomin asked.
I stopped and thought about it. Then I shrugged. "Depends on who asks me."
*********
"Mom, I'm going to Gomins place." I called out to Sadie.
"Alright. Say hi for me." she replied.
I smiled at her and walked to the front door. Just as I was about to open it, someone knocked. I chuckled and opened the door to find Zack and Nancy.
"Oh, hi guys." I greeted in surprise.
"Hi Mickey. Sorry to bother you but Jace invited us over." Nancy said.
I shook my head, laughing. "No, no. You're not bothering at all. Please come in." I said.
Zack gave me a smile. "Thanks." And him and Nancy walked inside.
"Well I was just about to go to my friends place so I'll see you later." I told them.
"Later." Zack said and they both walked to the living room.
I was about to get out when I thought better of it. I realized that Janet was still here and I was in the mood to see what was going to happen.
I smirked and walked to the living room knowing that's where Nancy and Zack were.
"On second thought, I'll just hang out here for a while." I said, smiling. "Let me call Jace for you."
Nancy and Zack shrugged and nodded.
I walked towards the staircase but my laziness got the better of me so instead of walking to Jace and Janet's room, I yelled.
"JACE YOU HAVE VISITORS."
A few seconds later, he yelled back. "UNLESS ITS ZACK OR NANCY TELL THEM IM BUSY."
I rolled my eyes. "It's Zack and Nancy." I replied, not bothering to yell since he was standing on the stairs now.
"Awesome." He called , racing downstairs and to the living room.
I chuckled and was ready to leave when I spotted Janet.
"Whose here?" She asked.
"Nancy and Zack." I replied.
I watched her face fall in disappointment.
"Why?"
I frowned. "I guess they want to chill with Jace."
Janet nodded and was about to leave but I stopped her, suddenly feeling pity.
"You know you can also hang out with his friends. I'd bet he'd love it and his friends would also like it."
Janet glared at me. "I don't need them. I have my own friends. In fact I was just talking to Justin on the phone and we have plans to meet up in a few."
I stood there, angry and shocked. Why is she being so rude and mean?
"Ok whatever. Hope you have fun with your so called friends. I know Jace is." And luck must have been on my side because just as I finished my sentence, Jace and his friends started laughing really loud.
I smiled. "I'll see you later Janet, I'll be at Gomins if you need me."
I decided it was time to head to Gomins. I said bye to Jace and his friends and walked outside.
It was a chilly day and I regretted not bringing a jacket with me. I shrugged and made my way to the house next door.
I knocked on the door and a few second later Danny opened it.
"Your here early." I said as I entered Gomins house.
Just then Gomin came. "And your late. Why did you leave me with Danny?"
Danny rolled his eyes. "Feelings mutual."
I rolled my eyes. "If it was so bad you could have just walked to my house which happens to be right next door."
Danny and Gomin didn't reply. Instead they walked to the living room and I followed.
There was sodas and snacks everywhere and they were playing with the play station.
"I'm starting to thing that this whole 'I can't stand to see his face' thing is a lie. And you guys love each other." I said, staring at the mess.
Gomin gasped. "What? No way, it's not a lie!"
I shook my head. "Well you guys looked like you were having fun. I mean look at this mess." I exclaimed.
Danny gave a sheepish smile. "We got carried away."
I chuckled. "I can see that."
I went to the couch and sat down. "So what are we going to do today?"
Gomin shrugged. "You pick."
I slowly smiled. "Well tomorrow is the ball and I do need a dress."
Danny and Gomins face both started to pale. "No. No way!" They simultaneously said.
"But why not?" I whined. "It'll only be a few minutes."
Danny laughed. "Ha ha. No way. Last time you said that, I spent NINE hours!"
Gomin rolled his eyes. "Danny, have you ever slept over at the mall?"
Danny frowned, confused but I understood.
"Well it's not fun! That's what happened the last time I went to the mall with her." Gomin said bitterly.
"Hey that wasn't my fault." I said, feeling the need to defend myself. "The woman said I needed to wait to buy the dress."
"She said to wait till the next day." Gomin countered.
"But I wanted to be the first one to buy it!" I replied.
"Wait, didn't security kick you out?" Danny asked.
Gomin glared at me and I chuckled. "I turned us invisible and we hid in the girls bathroom."
Danny whistled. "Mall is out of the question."
Gomin nodded. "Agreed."
My eyes widened and I took out my phone and took a picture of Gomin and Danny.
"Uh-what are you doing?" Gomin asked.
"You guys just agreed on something. That's like a miracle."
Danny rolled his eyes. "Let's go. I'm driving to the ice cream shop."
"I'm framing this." I said, getting up while looking at the picture.
Gomin sighed. "Seriously?"
"Duh. Maybe I'll hang it on my wall." I said.
"Quit it." Danny said, annoyed.
"This should be like your anniversary or something." I said.
"Stop that." Gomin said frustrated as we got in the car.
"Next year maybe you guys will smile at each other and do a handshake." I continued.
The boys both groaned.
"Look your even starting to do things simultaneously." I smirked.
Danny and Gomin looked at each other than Danny stopped the car.
"Your walking." They both said.
********
"Gomin needs to train." Kent said.
I rolled my eyes. "But Kent, I'll be bored."
Kent chuckled. "Sucks to be you then."
"Come on. Your taking both Kameron and Gomin. What will I do now?"
Suddenly a voice behind me said. "It must be your lucky day cause I'm here."
I cringed knowing that irritating voice. I turned around and spotted Kasdar.
Kent laughed. "There you go. Now your not alone."
"I'd rather be alone." I muttered.
"Heard that." Kasdar said, sitting on the couch and staring down at me since I was on the floor.
"You were supposed to." I replied.
Kent shook his head looking amused as I glared at him. "Try not to kill each other." And with that he left.
"So little Mouse, what you wanna do?"
I raised my eye brows. "Little Mouse?"
Kasdar smirked. "As in Mickey Mouse."
I snorted. "I'm amazed your childhood consisted of such happy shows. I was certain you were raised watching some horrid shows about demons and stuff."
Kasdar chuckled. "Feisty. Now lets not be mean, I am a guest after all."
"And as the host I shall show you to the door."
Kasdar rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
"Ya whatever."
He rolled his eyes. "Aren't going to offer me a drink of snack? Wow. Where did your parents go wrong with you." He said, anger radiating off his voice.
I frowned, confused. First he was all about annoying and teasing me and then he becomes distant and rude.
"Would you like a drink?" I asked, swallowing my pride. Maybe I hurt his feelings.
Kasdar looked at me shocked. "Uh-no thanks. Actually I came here to ask you something."
"Go ahead."
He sighed. "I have to swallow my pride and ask you to go to the ball with me. I mean, it's an honor for you so ya."
I raised my eye brow, shocked and confused. "Is this a joke?"
Kasdar rolled his eyes. "Look, I don't want to go with some random girl. All the girls at school are not..... Anyway, I don't want to go alone cause that would make me look like a loser."
I nodded. "Ok but what benefit will this give me?"
Kasdar smirked. "You get to go with an awesome guy." I snorted at this and he continued. "And you won't go on your own. Your the princess and you need a date."
I though about it then smiled. "Deal."
