Chapter 1: Troubles And Spilled Sodas

*Three years later*

"Mickey, please turn down the music. I can hear it all the way from here." Sinaya complained.

We were laying on the sand on the beach. Rodger was in the water, surfing.

I was listening to music with my headphones on and pretended not to hear Sinaya.

A few seconds later, Sinaya yanked my headphones off and stared at me, with a look of annoyance.

"Hey, What was that for?" I complained.

"Didn't you hear me, I said turn down the volume. You'll go deaf." Sinaya said, hands on her hips.

Just then Kent came from behind her and placed his hands around her waist and kissed her cheeks. "Leave her alone will you, she's just having fun."

"Ya, she'll have fun now then go deaf later." Sinaya said but with a smile.

I smiled. Just then Rodger came back, a wild look on his face.

"The waves are killer. We should have bought Kameron with us. He would have loved it." Rodger said, sitting next to me.

I looked away from him, sad. Kameron always said he was fine but I knew he wasn't. Ever since Kate's death, he was never the same. Instead of being calm, he was distant and never allowed himself to have much fun.

As for the rest of us, we were still in pain but not as much as Kameron. Sinaya came a close second. She had just got her little sister back and lost her again. It was a sore topic.

"Wow. Laris are so lucky that they have a beach at their home town. If only..." Rodger said. He was so wild.

"I have to invite Danny next time." I said with a smile.

"Ya. Since you babies won't come surf with me, I'll take Dan." Rodger said.

I smiled.

Just then my phone started ringing. I checked my caller ID. Janet.

I answered. "Hi Janet. What's up?"

"Where are you dude?"

"Jace?"

"Duh. Where are you?" Jace asked again.

"Oh uh. I'm at Danny's." I lied.

Even though the twins and I are as close as ever, I still haven't told them about The Other World. It wasn't safe but I still felt horrible about lying to them. The 14 year old crazy kids were still suspicious and they even told my adoptive parents that they were scared I might leave them for some relatives. They still don't know I met my actual parents.

"Oh ok. Well come home, you promised you would take us to the movies." Jace said.

"Of course. I'll be right there." I said.

"You forgot, didn't you?"

"What? Of course not!" I lied.

Jace chuckled. "Hurry up." And he hanged up.

"Guys. I have to leave." I said, gathering my stuff and getting up.

Rodger looked at me. "Why?"

"I promised I would take Jace and Janet to the movies." I replied.

"Oh. Ok. Have fun." Sinaya said. I said bye to everyone and called for The Door.

I waved one more time and stepped through. I ended up at Gomins living room. No one was home.

Since I couldn't use The Door to my house, in case Jace and Janet catch me, Gomins parent let me come to their place since it was next to my house.

Gomin entered the living room and looked at me with a surprise look on his face. "Wow. Hi Mickey. Back from Larington?" he asked.

I nodded.

"Had fun at the beach?"

"How did you know I was there?"

He looked me up and down. Confused, I looked at myself. "Oh shoot, I forgot to put on my jeans and shirt"

Gomin chuckled. "Go ahead and change in my room."

"Thanks man." I said, racing upstairs.

I went up to his room and started changing my clothes. I smiled. After I broke the curse and bought back Sinaya and Rodger, I told everyone that I was going back home. They were disappointed but understood that I had a family here as well. But I was thrilled when Gomin and his parents also moved here.

*flash back three years ago, 2 weeks after breaking curse*

I sighed, picking up my bag from the kitchen counter and heading outside. I was not in the mood to go to school today.

I was walking outside when I thought of my English assignment. I'm sure I put it in my bag but I checked anyway, just to be sure. I found it and looked up to see Gomin in front of me with a smile, his arms folded.

"Gomin, what are you doing here?" I asked.

"Well, I don't plan on being late for school." he replied.

"What are you talking about?"

He rolled his eyes. "After whining and whining, I finally convinced my parents to move here."

"Oh my gosh, Gomin that's amazing." I exclaimed, hugging him tightly.

"Of course I would move here. I'm your friend and your protector."

*End of flashback*

I raced downstairs and almost bumped into Gomin.

"Wow there, chill."

"Sorry. Gotta go. See ya." I said and with that I left.

I ran to my house like a lunatic and got inside. I sighed and closed the front door. I turned around and froze.

Jace and Janet stood right in front of me with their arms folded and a stern look on their face.

I gave them a sheepish smile. "Hi?" It came out sounding more like a question.

Janet rolled her eyes. "Really, hi? That's all you have to say?"

"Look, I'm sorry. I got caught up with Danny." I said, walking to the kitchen and grabbing a granola bar.

"That's nice. So you forgot about your twins." Jace said with a fake pout.

"Of course not. How can I forget such amazing people!"

"Of course you can't." they simultaneously said.

I laughed. Jace and Janet always said things simultaneously. And they looked so much alike, being twins and all. With their mom's sparkling green eyes and their dad's sandy blond hair, they looked stunning.

"Well, lets go. Do you know what movie we're going to watch?" I asked, picking up my purse and keys.

We walked out the front door and straight to my car. "Nah, we'll just go and see what's on." Jace said.

"Ok. Do I have to go through that long lecture again?" I asked

"No. We know the drill." they simultaneously replied.

I sighed. "Yet you never behave."

"Ya we do." they simultaneously replied

***After the movie, on the way home***

"I will NEVER take you out again!" I exclaimed furiously.

"Look, we know we messed up but it wasn't our fault." Jace said.

"Ya. That woman was asking for it." Janet said.

"The woman wasn't asking for anything!" I replied.

"She cut in before us when we were trying to buy popcorn." Janet defended.

"And then she pushed me out of the way when we were leaving the movie theater." Jace continued.

"That doesn't mean you had to push her down the stairs and spill soda in her purse." I said, beyond furious.

"She didn't die. And so what if we spilled soda, what's the big deal?" Jace said.

"What's the big deal?! WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!? The big deal is that she was a 50 year old woman and you spilled soda all over her medicine!" I can't believe they did that to a 50 year old woman.

"Look, we're sorry." Janet said.

"Sorry isn't going to get you anywhere this time! You're grounded." I said.

"Grounded? Ha, you're not our parent." Jace said with a smirk.

"I know. But I'm sure mom and dad will agree with me." I said.

"Oh come on. Please don't tell them." Janet begged.

"Yes I will!"

So much for we never get in trouble, I thought to my self.
