*We all raced to the opened gate. Cole was so caught off guard, that they didn't do anything at first.

But then I saw Brad throw a knife straight at Gomins heart. I screamed his name but I knew it was too late. He froze from shock. *

I yelled, terrified and expecting to see Gomin falling on his knees. I cried, thinking that I would never see him again. No more cocky boy that says he will always win even if he doesn't always win.

I looked at Gomin and stared, shocked. The knife stopped right in front of his heart. The tip pressing against his chest, but it stopped there.

There was complete silence. What just happened?

I looked closely and noticed a light colored hand holding it. It was barely visible but it was there nonetheless.

I looked down at my outstretched hands and noticed the same light coming out of my finger tips towards the knife, holding it.

Did I just......do magic?

"What the heck is going on?" Cole demanded, with a look of outrage and awe.

"I-it-I." I didn't know what to say.

Stark was the first to snap out of it. He pulled out something from his pocket and yelled run as he threw the object.

The object blew up, sending smoke everywhere as we raced towards the opening.

We all made it out and stepped into the cold, empty night of Charilot.

No one said a word. Everyone was panting, out of breath.

"I almost died." Gomin said.

They all looked at me.
"What did you do?" Stark asked.

"I-I don't know." I replied.

"Mickey, Charis can't do magic. You just did magic. It's not possible." Stark argued, bluntly.

"Why are you yelling at me? I don't know what happened!" I exclaimed.

"I'm not yelling." he yelled back.

"Everyone. Be quiet!" Kameron said. "Lets all calm down."

"Excuse us, we can't all be calm like you." Robby said, sarcastically.

"Ok guys enough. Lets get out of here. We need to talk to Tara and Sorak." Gomin said.

I agreed and we were about to start our journey home when someone spoke

"What's going on?" Danny asked.

Oh shoot. I forgot all about Danny.

"Danny, I have something important to tell you." I said.

"Yes. Yes you do!"

I sighed, ready to come clean when Gomin gave me a look.

"Lets go home first, then we'll explain." Gomin said.

"No. I want answers. Where am I? You said you were at a relatives place so what is Gomin doing here with you? What were those kids doing? And how did you stop the knife?" Danny was out of breath when he finished.

"Please Danny, just come with me and you'll understand." I begged

He sagged his shoulders and nodded.

We called a cab. The ride home was silent. Danny was avoiding my eyes. Gomin was strangely distant. Well, I can't blame him, he almost died.

Once we got in and knocked on the door, Alex the butler answered. "Where have you guys been? Everyone was worried sick about you all." he said, sternly.

"We got.....caught up with something." Robby said.

Alex looked around and spotted Danny. "And who might you be?"

"He's a friend. Alex, where are my parents?" I asked.

"Your parents?" Danny asked, confused.

I ignored him. "Their in the main room with Levin and Lorain. And good luck because they are not happy." Alex the butler said.

We walked to the main room and were instantly met with questions and yells and promises of never leaving the house till we were 90.

"Calm down. We're fine." Kameron said, sitting on the floor. Kate walked up to him and gave him a hug.

"You had me worried." She said.

"Nah. I'm fine." He said, ruffling her hair.

"Well, you guys owe me. This people wouldn't let me breath and almost killed me." Kate said, gesturing towards the grown ups.

"Well, looks like I wasn't the only one who almost died." Gomin said.

"WHAT?" Lorain and Tara exclaimed.

Just then, Jemin came in looking frantic. "Oh good. Their back. You guys gave us quite a scare." he said, taking a seat.

"What's going on?" Danny said.

The grown ups and Kate looked at him. "Who is this?" Tara asked.

"This is my best friend, Danny." I said.

"The human?" Sorak asked.

"What's with this human reference, as if you all aren't humans." Danny said.

Everyone looked at each other then the grow ups looked at Jemin. They slightly nodded and Jemin stood up.

"Uh, what's going on?" I asked.

Suddenly Jemin zapped Danny with a spell and Danny fell. I screamed.

I run towards him and put his head on my lap. "Why did you do that?" I shouted.

"Calm down honey, it's for the best. We can't let him remember what happened." Tara explained.

"You didn't have to zap him like that." I argued.

"Yes we did. Because you were so irresponsible, that you bought a human to this world." Sorak said.

"I didn't bring him here." I yelled. "He was captured by the Maligns." I was furious. How could they blame me. After all I've been through just to keep this place a secret.

"What are you talking about?" Lorain asked.

"First hear the whole story before you start accusing people." I yelled.

"Everyone calm down." Robby yelled.

We all fell silent.

"Can someone explain what's going on?" Levin asked.

"It's a long story." Stark said, speaking for the first time.

30 minutes later, we were done explaining everything.

"But why would kids do that?" Lorain asked.

"Cole said they were under strict orders to get me." I said.

"Orders from who?" Levin asked.

"I don't know. We were busy running for our lives to ask." Gomin replied.

"It's obvious that it's his father. I knew they were never on our side." Kate said.

"We can't jump into conclusion." Sorak said.

"Well, his son still kidnapped a human and admitted that it was to try and capture Mickey, either way I think you guys need to have a meeting." Kameron said.

"Wait, how did you guys know that they had Danny in the first place?" Tara asked.

We all looked at each other, not wanting to tell them the truth.

"We got a letter." I said.

"From who?" Lorain asked.

"It just said Z. I guess it was one of the Maligns." I replied.

"Ya. They left it so that Mickey can go and try and save him." Gomin continued.

"Well next time, you come to us. Am I understood?" Sorak said, strictly.

"Yes sir." I replied, relived that they thought that this is the first time I got a letter from a mysterious person.

"Am I the only one wondering about how Mickey did magic?" Stark said, speaking for the first time.

"Yes, even I'm quite curious how you did that." Jemin said.

I was still mad at Jemin and by the looks of it, so was Gomin.

"I don't know how I did it. All I know is that I yelled and I just couldn't stand the thought of losing Gomin. Next thing I know, there is something coming out of the tip of my outstretched hands." I said.

"Well......this is something else." Jemin said.

Stark looked at his watch and got up. "I have to go."

We said our goodbyes and he left.

"What do we do now?" Kate asked.

"That's up to us." Sorak said, getting up. "We'll call a meeting as soon as possible. This might mean..." Sorak gulped. "War."

There was silence as that word hung in the air.

"What about the human boy?" Jemin asked.

"His name is Danny. And maybe you should wake him up." I said, looking at Jemin.

"Ya. But first erase his memory." Sorak said.

"WHAT? NO!" I exclaimed, getting back on my feet.

"Honey, it's for the best. You know we are not allowed to tell humans." Tara said, trying to reassure me.

"You told mom and dad. And besides, I don't care about the rules anymore. This place is ripping my family apart." I said.

"We are your family." Kate said.

"Well your not my only family. Jace and Janet still won't talk to me. Hialry is also upset. Danny was the only one I had left, but I'm losing him. But I won't let that happen. They are my family." I said.

"They aren't your real family." Kate defended.

"Well, they were the only family I knew since my own family erased my memory and abandoned me. I know how it feels to get your memory erased. It's not fair. You can't rob someone off it. It's theirs not yours." I fought.

The room went silence.

"And even if you erase his memory, I'll tell him myself." I finished. I got up and walked to my room. Danny was there, still under a spell.

I slowly walked towards my bed and looked down at Danny. Oh Danny, I'm so sorry. What have I done? I walked over to my chair and sat down.

I fell asleep, promising to tell Danny everything.

The next day was a headache. I had woken up thinking about the crazy dream I had. Then I saw Danny laying on my bed and realized it wasn't a dream.

After taking a shower I went for breakfast. Everyone was already there. That's when they told me the worst news I've ever heard.

"We're sorry Mickey. We don't know what went wrong." Jemin said.

"I don't care. Go and wake him up." I demanded.

"We tried. It won't work." Sorak said

"Why? What did you do?" I yelled.

"Nothing. I promise Mickey, we decided to let you tell him everything." Tara replied.

I looked down. "Why won't he wake up?"I whispered.

Jemin sighed. "I don't know."

Everyone sat there, silent. Kate and Kameron were sitting side by side, looking anywhere but at me. Gomin was tapping away on the table. Lorain and Levin continued eating. Robby was nowhere to be found.

"I don't care how you do it, get him back." I said, calmly.

"Of course, of course." Jemin replied.

I sighed and rubbed my temples. "What about his parents? They'll be wondering where he is."

"Oh. We solved that problem." Jemin replied.

"We erased the memories of everyone that knew him." Sorak explained.

"You did what? Oh my gosh, back to the erasing memories. You have to understand you can't do that. You have no right too."

"But we had to." Jemin argued.

"No. No you didn't. Would you like it if someone erased your memories. You guys are no better than the Maligns. Knowing humans are helpless without magic, you use it on them instead of facing the problems you created." I said. I didn't yell. I didn't shout. I stated the fact.

The kids shifted in their seats, feeling awkward. The grown ups stared at me with wide eyes.

"Sh-she's right." Levin said, looking away.

"We're sorry. Your right. We will never do that unless absolutely necessary." Sorak promised

"Thank you. And I'm sorry." I said.

"Don't be. Your right." Lorain said.

The grown ups left shortly after that. They were going to a meeting with the kings and queens of Carsim and Lari. They wanted to discuss about what to do with the attempt at kidnapping the princess of Charilot. Jemin stayed behind.

I sighed and ran my hands through my curly hair from frustration.

"I'll try my best to find a way to wake him up." Jemin promised

"Ya, ya." I replied

"But am I the only one thinking about your ability to perform magic?" he asked.

"No we all are amazed. We just don't have an explanation." Kameron replied.

"Well, the good news is that now you can undo the spell!" Kate exclaimed.

I looked at her. I hadn't thought about that. I was so worried about Danny, I didn't realize that I might be able to break the spell.

"Oh my gosh, Kate. Your right." I exclaimed.

"At least there is one good news." Gomin said, looking excited.

"Yes. And I'll help you control your magical abilities so you can do the spell correctly." Jemin said.

"But wait, we still don't have the book." Kameron said.

"Well ya but if we can somehow solve the..."Jemin started but Gomin quickly interrupted him.

"Solve the problem, maybe retrace the steps of when it was last seen, then we can find it." Gomin said, giving Jemin a look.

Jemin looked confused as to why we hadn't told the others but kept quiet.

"Ya but that's a long shot. I wish there was a hint or something." Kate sighed.

No one said anything.

"Well guys, I'll catch you later. I'm going out." Kameron said, getting up.

I was expecting a joke from Kate about him going out with Livy or something but was surprised when she said. "Ya. Me too."

"Oh and where are you going?" Kameron asked, suddenly overprotective.

"None of your business." She replied, sticking her tongue out at him.

"It is my business." Kameron argued.

Kate rolled her eyes and got up to leave. Kameron followed, arguing the whole way. I'm guessing she has a meeting with Chase.

"So are you going to tell me why you haven't told anyone about the riddle?" Jemin asked.

"You shouldn't be one to talk." Gomin snapped at him.

Jemin put his hands up in an I surrender gesture. "I'm just wondering."

"We just thought it would be better to try and solve it by our self." I said.

"Ok. Well, I'm willing to help you." Jemin said. "Firstly by helping you master your magical abilities. It's not that hard."

"But I want to know how she has this ability while no one else has." Gomin said.

"Something's will always remain a secret." Jemin replied.

It's been two days. Two days of pure agony. Two days of waiting. Two days, and Danny still hasn't woken up.

They moved him to a hospital but there hasn't been a single difference. I was beyond worried and Jemin would teach me how to control by powers as a distraction.

It's actually really easy. There are some complicated spells but you get used to the whole system. Even Fany gives me lessons sometimes.

"Mickey, are you listening?" Jemin asked

"What? Ya ya of course I am." I replied.

"Right. Sure."

"Jemin? Are the spells in The Great Book hard?"

Jemin shifted in his seat looking nervous. "Yes. Yes they are. Sometimes they are way too powerful and might.....kill you."

"Wait. What?!"

"Ya but that doesn't usually happen. It's very rare."

I thought for a couple of seconds. "Is that what happened to Darwin?" I asked. Hearing the all powerful Maligns name that caused this curse still made me smile.

"Well yes. We think so. But he was very powerful so no one expected that outcome. But I don't think that's why he died."

"Then?"

"Well I think Sam has something to do with it."

"Sam? Why would Sam try to kill Darwin? He was working for him."

"Well I'm guessing he felt guilty. Why else would he have given me that riddle?"

"If he wanted to be helpful, he could have just told you the place."

"I don't know, it's just a guess."

We continued to work on my magic.

After 30 minutes, we finished and I decided to visit Danny and check for any progress.

I went to my room to get a jacket when I saw a piece of paper on my bed. If its Z...... I slowly picked it up but it wasn't from Z. The handwriting was different, where Z had a cursive, clean handwriting, this person had a messy one.

I picked up the letter and read it. And then I read it again. And again.

Oh no. This can't be happening.
