Chapter 18: Stark? No!
I woke up the next day in my comfortable bed. Waits at thing I remember, I was in Robby's room.
I sat up on my bed and saw a letter on the dresser. I reached for it and read.
~Good morning Mickey. I'm sorry, I had to go out and I didn't want to leave you alone in my room so I carried you to yours. Love you so much. Robby~
I smiled. I got up and got dressed.
I didn't know what to do so I decided to go to the library and search more information about The Great Book. I was going to ask Gomin to come with me but I didn't want him to suffer any more, so I headed there by myself.
I found Robby on my way and said hi.
"So what you up too?" he asked.
"Just on my way to the library." I replied.
He rolled his eyes. "Such a nerd."
I stuck my tongue out.
"So , I never got to ask, how was the meeting?"
"It was boring at first but....." I trailed off.
"But what?"
"I found out about the Orb." I said, not telling him that the red was increasing.
"Oh."
"Yup. And that it was Starks father that betrayed us." I whispered, looking down.
"So that doesn't mean anything!" Robby exclaimed, suddenly looking angry.
"I know that. I'm just telling you what I found out." I defended.
"Well Mickey, I'm just saying it doesn't mean anything. No one else will betray us." he said, looking determined.
"Ya."
"I won't allow it to happen."
*****
Four hours later I came up empty. I left once to get a snack but otherwise spent four hours in the library. At last I gave up and went downstairs.
Kate was sitting on the couch, texting.
"Hey, Kate."
"Oh hi Mickey. What's up? Where were you this whole time?" she asked.
"Oh. Just reading." I said, not really lying.
"Oh you and your reading." she replied, rolling her eyes.
I chuckled. "Where are the boys?" I asked.
"Training."
"Ok. I'm going to go and say hi."
"Later."
I went up to the training room and found the boys there. Along with Kent. Kent, Sinayas protector, was also the trainer. Tall with his green eyes and blond hair, he was handsome and a very good fighter.
"Hi guys." I said, walking towards them.
Gomin turned towards me, wiping away sweat from his forehead. "Hi Mickey." he said, breathlessly.
Kameron, not as tired as Gomin ,
waved and Robby winked at me.
"How are ya, little sis?" Robby asked.
"Good."
"Came to see me train these useless boys." Kent said, laughing.
"Oh please, I never lose at any game." Gomin said. I rolled my eyes. He always says that.
"Mickey, I would have loved to show you how I could take all three of them while I am blindfolded but, alas, I have to leave." Kent said with a smirk.
"Right." Kameron said.
"Well, I'll see you around then." Kent said, giving me a big hug and left.
I looked after him feeling sad. He was really close to Sinaya and I know he was devastated and I also know he liked her. I could tell by the way his eyes sparkle when he talked about her.
"Hi boys, wanna hang out?" I asked
They all agreed that they would meet up with me and Kate in the main room after taking a shower.
After 15 minutes, we were all sitting on the floor in a circle. We were talking when Stark and Fany showed up.
"Hi guys. Long time." Gomin said, as they joined us on the floor.
"Ya. We've been busy." Fany said.
"Planning your wedding?" Kate asked with a smirk.
Fany and Stark blushed and we laughed at them.
"So guys. What should we talk about?" Kate asked.
"I don't know. But I know I'm bored." Gomin said.
"When I was younger and Rodger and I got bored, we used to send coded messages to each other." Robby said.
"Coded messages?" Kameron asked, with a raised eyes brow.
"Yup. You see, what we would do is we would take the first letter of each word and make a sentence. That way no one knows what we were talking about."
Kate's eyes lit up. "That's what you guys did. I read one of your messages and couldn't understand a thing."
Robby chuckled. "Yup. It was my idea." he said proudly.
"Well, it's late. I'm off to bed." Kameron said, stretching.
"It's only 6pm!" I exclaimed.
"That's late. And I woke up at the crack of dawn. It was so early." Kameron defended.
I rolled my eyes. "You woke up at 1pm."
"Well who wakes up that early unless there is school, and last time I checked, we were on Christmas break."
"Oh whatever." Kate said. He waved goodnight and left.
Robby left soon after and Kate followed. It was just Gomin, Fany, Stark and I. I thought back to the meeting and how Starks father betrayed them and how James suspected Stark. But I couldn't believe it.
I looked at Stark. He was glancing at Fany, who was concentrating on her phone, and smiling fondly to himself. He truly cared for her.
He caught me watching him and gave me a small smile while blushing.
"So guys, what should we do?" Gomin asked.
Stark shrugged. Fany shook her head.
"Lets take a walk." I suggested.
"Ok." They all agreed and we went out.
It was a quite night and the weather was perfect.
"It's such a lovely night." Fany said.
"Seriously? Did you just say lovely?" Stark teased.
"Yes. Yes I did. Do you have a problem with it?"
"Nope but you sound crazy. Don't say that again." Stark said bluntly.
Fany stared at him with wide eyes.
"Hey chill. I'm just kidding." Stark said, laughing. She punched him.
"You punch like a girl." he smirked.
"I am a girl. And you sound like a girl." she replied.
He looked offended. "No I do not! Mickey, do I?"
I smiled. "Well...."
He gave me a glare then smiled an evil smile.
"Stark, why are you looking at me like that?" I asked, feeling scared.
He laughed. And charged after me.
I screamed as he lifted me over his shoulders as if I weight nothing. I kept hitting his back while he started to jog. It was painful.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." I said.
"Admit I don't sound like a girl."
"Yo-you don't sound like a girl." I yelled.
"Good." he said, smirking and putting me on the ground.
Fany and Gomin came up to us, laughing. We talked and joked about random things. We made fun of Stark while he bluntly told us that we were terrible friends. Good old blunt Stark.
After a while, Fany and Stark walked a bit ahead. I saw Fany shiver and Stark take out his jacket and put it around her.
I smiled looking at them. Gomin was also smiling.
"How are things between you and Danny?" he suddenly asked.
I smiled. "It's perfect."
"Oh, so you guys made up?"
"Yup."
"That's cool."
Silence followed.
"Mickey, are you ever going to move back here?"
I didn't answer at first because I didn't know what to say.
"I-I don't think so. Well not soon anyway."
"Oh." he sounded hurt.
"It's just, I grew up there and it's the first home I remember. And there are the people I love. Rob and Saide. Jace and Janet."
"Lets not forget Danny." Gomin said, looking sad.
I kept my mouth shut, not knowing what to do.
We caught up to Stark and Fany. Fany had shrank to her tiny size and was sitting on Starks shoulder like she always does, still wearing his jacket.
"We have to bounce. Do you guys want us to accompany you back to the palace?" Stark asked.
"Nope. It's fine." I said.
"You sure?"
"Yup." Gomin said.
We waved goodbye and they left. Gomin and I continued to walk ahead.
"So what do we do about the bracelet?" Gomin asked.
I shook my head. I had no idea what to do.
"Did you get any more letters?" Gomin asked.
"Nope."
We continued to walk. We came upon a bench and sat down.
We looked up and saw stars. I was focused on the stars when I noticed Gomin staring at me.
"What?" I asked, blushing.
"Nothing."
"No. Tell me."
"Nothing. I'm just glad your back home."
I smiled. "I am too." I replied, resting my head on his shoulder.
"Do you still think Tori is innocent?" I asked.
He didn't reply. I looked up at him. "I honestly don't know. I just hope it's not." he said at last. I nodded, understanding.
I still haven't told him about The Orb or anyone else for that matter. I was scared and I had an idea that maybe it was Tori who was betraying us and that's why the red color is increasing.
I didn't know what else it was and I refused to think that Stark would betray us. Betray Fany. I saw the way he looked at her. He loved her and wouldn't hurt her like that.
We decided to head back home when it started to get cold.
Once we reached home, we were greeted by Alex the butler.
"Hi Alex." I said.
"Hi miss. Would you like a cub of tea?"
"No thank you." I replied.
"Hey. I thought we were friends, Alex? How come you didn't offer me any tea?" Gomin said, giving Alex a fake pout.
Alex tried to hide a smile but we saw it.
I was tired so I decided to head to my room. I said goodnight to Gomin and left.
And there on my bed was another letter.
Oh not this again.
