Chapter 19

A/N: The video above does not belong to me. It belongs to the person who uploaded it on YouTube.

Krist's POV

I carefully wrapped the newly baked banana walnut bread with aluminum foil and then placed it into a brown paper bag with a rope handle on either side.

I felt really proud of myself for finally being able to bake my very first banana walnut bread. I meant to surprise Singto with it.

With the brown paper bag in my hand I headed out the door and got into my car and drove off in the direction of Singto's house. His house was just five miles away from mine.

When I reached his house I slowly drove into his driveway and parked behind his car.

As I was getting out of my car, I noticed that his bumper had a big dent. It had not been there before. I wondered what happened. I also wondered why he had not told me about it.

I walked up to his front door and pressed on the buzzer.

When he opened the door, I handed him the paper bag with the banana walnut bread before he could say a word.

"To what do I owe this surprise visit and surprise present?" he asked, a big smile breaking into his handsome face.

"To the love I have for you," I said, giving him a teasing smile.

He frowned.

Singto has always thought that all my love declarations were not true because I always said them in a teasing or mocking way.

Truth be told, I did love him but I was afraid that he always looked upon me as his best friend or as a brother and if I ever tried to make it go beyond that he would  start avoiding me.

"Tell me the truth," he was saying now. "Have you done anything wrong without my knowledge and this is your way of covering up your guilt?"

"Nah," I said, trying to make my voice sound casual and careless. "I just wanted you to be the first to try my first ever attempt at baking a banana walnut bread."

"Banana walnut bread!" he was all smiles again.

Banana walnut bread was his all time favorite and that was why I had been planning for a very long time now to make it for him.

Every time we went out to have breakfast together or to have a coffee break, he would always order a slice of banana walnut bread to go with his tea or coffee.

"Have you had breakfast yet?" I asked.

"Make a guess," he said, pointing to what he was wearing.

He was in pajamas.

I didn't have to guess. His hair was still rumpled.

"Coffee, tea or me?" he asked as he walked towards his kitchen.

"Are you daring me?" I asked, my voice sounding ominous.

If he was, I certainly was not going to pass up on his challenge.

He carefully set the paper bag with the banana walnut bread on the kitchen counter and then turned around to face me.

My heart started to race like a horse competing in a derby.

His face had turned serious. He was studying my face, trying to read my thoughts.
