Chapter 9

SmokeBee was back at the deep palace, at the room where the tension began, where her little sister was murdered. Come on creepy assassin who's been sneaking in here and killing my sisters... SmokeBee thought as she swam around the room, looking for any possible hidden chambers or tunnel that could lead into the room. Thankfully, there was none. She grabbed herself a narwhal horn spear that was left here when there were still guards, figuring she was going to need it when the assassin attacks. She then saw a beautiful statue, in the centre of the room and staring at the doorway. Who is that? She thought, but took her mind off it and went back to business.

Seconds turned into minutes. Minutes turned into hours, and still no action or creepy assassins. SmokeBee was yawning and half-asleep when she heard something. Scrrrrrrrrrap...
It sounded so realistic, it had to be real. But where was it coming from?
Scrrrrrrrrrrrrap...
There it was again. SmokeBee knew this was serious, she jerked awake, held the spear as tight as she can in his hands and looked around the room. She spotted the statue, it's sapphire blue eyes staring at her own.

Wait...was that statue facing me before...? SmokeBee thought, surprised and worried. Then, it happened so fast that she couldn't react; the statue launched itself at SmokeBee and knocked the young femme onto the ground. There was no assassin sneaking in at all! They've been here all this time! SmokeBee thought as the statue pinned her down harder, digging its sharp, stone fingers into her amour. SmokeBee grabbed the spear and she jabbed it at the statue. Would that even work?! It's stone! SmokeBee thought and then she had an idea. The eyes of the statue were sapphires, she could pluck them out. And she did.

SmokeBee grabbed the two sapphire jewels of the statue and pulled them out of their place and threw them aside. They were later sucked into a tiny hole with air bubbles coming out. Ha! Bet you can't see me now! She thought with pride, but she needed to know something. This statue had to be an enchantment, enchanted by an Ocean-Bot animus, just like the way Sidearm enchanted her mother's necklace. "Excuse me?! Can you hear me?! Who enchanted you?!" SmokeBee yelled in the water, but only a large amount of bubbles and a muffled voice came out. The statue didn't reply but tried to reach for SmokeBee's little sister. How can she go after my sister, when she can't see anything?! SmokeBee thought and pushed the statue away with her spear.

The statue reacted quick, it grabbed the spear and tossed it into a bigger sucking hole and the spear disappeared. SmokeBee's first thought was to protect her sister with her own body, she raced to her sister's crib and she held her tight to her chest. Why is it attacking? Fine, it's an enchanted statue. By why only the Queen's daughters? SmokeBee thought. Wait a second, shouldn't it only attack when there are no witnesses? She thought, more confused but there is only one answer. I'm not a witness, I'm a target!

The statue jerked its head and face SmokeBee instantly, she knew what was going to happen next, it's going to attack. The statue launched at her, as she anticipated, SmokeBee propelled herself upwards and the statue ran into her little sister's crib. SmokeBee smirked at the statue under her, tangled in the kelp and seaweed crib it crashed into, and she looked down at her little sister, whose eyes were flickering awake and blinked at her big sister. Hello... SmokeBee smiled and flashed her crest once, hello in Oceania. Her sister's bright green eyes looked deep into SmokeBee's magenta ones, she reached out and placed her little on her big sister's face.

A growl can be heard, the statue untangled itself and jumped straight for the two princesses. SmokeBee managed to get out of its direct way, by she was standing right in front of the door. The statue took its chance and slammed SmokeBee out of the room and into a wall right outside. Latching its hands onto SmokeBee's chest, the statue pressed her down before she could move anymore. It raised its remaining hand in position to kill both SmokeBee and her little sister. SmokeBee closed her eyes, expecting everything to go black and silent, but nothing came.

She opened her eyes and saw the statue, frozen, as it should be. Its hands; one was still on SmokeBee's chest and the other was still in the position it was before it froze. Phew...it's over. It's all over.
