I walked out to the playground she shouldn't have been hard to find but I just couldn't see her.

"Excuse me, could I have everyone's attention." Most of the children stopped playing and faced my way.

"Could I have everyone's attention." I said and finally got the rest of the children's attention.

"Does anyone know where scarlet is?" Everyone looked around and then I saw one child put their hand up. I pointed to him and he spoke.

"I saw her go with a lady I think that she was her mother because she didn't refuse to go with her but she also didn't seem too happy to go so I don't . . ."

"Ok zack thank you very much for your help." I had forgotten that his power was to see more from less, if he wanted he could probably know her whole life story just by looking at her. I turned and pulled Melody around the corner but the came back around.

"You can go back to playing now." When I said that Danielle walked back to the play ground.

"What was that about." Asked Melody.

"One of her abilities is to obey she has to do what you say no matter what, it may sound good but you have to be careful what you say around her. One time I said that I wish one of the children were dead, I didn't mean it of course but she grabbed a knife and tried to stab him until I told her to stop."

"I definitely thought that would be cool at the start but now." She smiled.

"Let's just get back to figuring out more on scarlet." We sat in the office for hours but we didn't find much more than we had from that one piece of paper, as it turns out the parents didn't want the system or us to know everything about their child. According to the files they didn't even declare all of her powers but just the ones we needed to watch out for.

"I don't think we are going to find out any more on her maybe after telling them the story tomorrow you could talk to her and see if you could get anything out of her, if you needed to you could even . . ."

"NO I would not do that to a child." I butted in.

"Yeh I can understand why, but you might have to for her own good." I looked down at the papers but didn't read any, I knew that I might have to do it but I hadn't wanted to for years now.

"I think that I'll have to head home now, you probably should too."

"No I have to wait for all the kids to head home first, I can't just leave them here alone."

"The last of the kids left an hour ago, you know the father came in and said goodbye and you just waved him off because you were looking in a new file." She looked like she was about to burst with laughter.

"That was the last child?"

"Yes, and it is now 9 O'clock so we should both be heading home."I turned and looked at the clock on the wall and saw the hands on the clock strike 9.

"Oh my it is a lot later that it feels, do you think that you could come back tomorrow and help me again? I could use your sharp thinking." I asked Melody.

"I guess so if i am not being swarmed by my secret fans or have any very important work to do." I picked up a ruler and threw it at her but she just jumped up onto the bookshelf and then jumped out the door while I was laughing. I turned back to the desk to pack up all the paper work when Melody popped back around the corner of the door to make it look like she was floating in mid air.

"I looked at my diary as it turns out I'm free again 6 O'clock just when your day care starts to close up." I turned to throw a dictionary at her but she was already whisking down the hallway and out the door.

"If I wanted to I could catch up to you." I shouted out at her.

"Keep dreaming, when you catch a wild cat come and try to catch me." We were both chuckling.

"Bye Melody."

"See ya Mrs Everglades." I turned around and tried to glare at her but my smile and giggling was too oblivious and I couldn't.

After I put all the files back in the cabinet I walked out the office and checked that all the toys were packed up, thankfully I had Seth here today he is one of the oldest kids here and always tries to help. But he usually uses here as an opportunity to test out his powers thankfully being able to use alchemy doesn't cause a lot of damage but more so fixes or creates things, but not out of thin air what does he use again? Oh that's right a transmutation. He's a smart Kid to be able to understand all that.

I got outside the door and remembered that I had caught the bus today, but of course, I had even missed the late bus. I looked to see if anyone was around.

"Emoh em ekat." I spoke aloud and I arrived at home.

"I hope you didn't do that when anyone was watching." I turned to see my husband already home.

"Oh darn, I was hoping I would beat you home still." I smiled at him.

"Never, why were you so late?"

"Me and Melody were looking up some files on one of the new children at the daycare, she's different and I'm worried that she might be too different. She controls light, i just hope that isn't a knew one."

"Well the new generation might not have been born yet, so you really need to stop worrying."

"How can I when I want to help the new one, and she's an outsider, she could be the one."

"Just remember that everyone in your daycare is classed as an outsider in the real world."

"But they exist in the real world, it's just that the world won't except them so everyone thinks that we are just a myth, unreal that's why we are called mutants because to them we are a mutated version of a human man made not real, why? Why do they think that? We are just as human as they are."

"Yes, except for a few things, it's fear honey, they fear us so they hide us just like they tried to so many years ago but modern technology sure makes it a lot harder."

"I know." I sighed.

"Come on we should get to bed you have to work again tomorrow, and it's Thursday so your daycare opens early at 6."

"Yeh ok." I yawned.

"What is with Mrs Everglades? she's so different and the was she acts around us all it's different to the other day cares? I mean she saw some kids using their powers in the playground and she acted like it was normal." Scarlet said aloud.

'Could it be that she is a mutant as well, that she's one of us, and that's a mutants daycare, I could use my powers." I smiled 'I could actually use my powers, considering my parents don't let me use my powers i could practice at day care.' But then Scarlett's face dropped.

'No I couldn't, I would have to take my gloves off and then I might kill someone, or something.' She lowered her head into her pillow and looked at her hands, she grabbed her glove and pulled it off, she slowly reached her hand out towards the bedside table.

"What do you think your doing?" Shouted her mother, and she startled her that much that she jumped and touched the table, it disintegrated.

"Why did you do that? Put that glove back on, I can't have you destroying any of my prized furniture." She started to walk out the door and whispers to herself, but just loud enough so that Scarlet could her.

"If I had known that you we to come with powers I would have never adopted you."

The door was slammed behind her as a tear escaped Scarlets eye and dropped onto the floor, she laid her head back onto her pillow and turned the light off.

'Maybe i could talk to Mrs Everglades about what I could do tomorrow, but I'll have to ask her not to tell this fake mother.'

~poor scarlet, however I hope none of you are falling asleep yet, there will be a few more twists and turns yet and let me know if any of you have figured out the connection between a few characters. 😄😄~
