Recovery
Biana's perspective:
Someone shook Biana awake.
She blinked a few times and looked around. She was in the healing center, her head lying on her arms, which were crossed on Dex's cot. She rubbed her eyes and sat up, stretching.
Elwin stood behind her.
She met the healer's soft gaze. "How long was I out?"
He shrugged. "Only a few hours. I figured it was better to let you sleep."
Biana pulled her arm out behind her back. "Thanks."
She stood and stared at Dex's peaceful face. It was nice not to see him sweating and struggling to breathe.
Bullhorn was lying in the corner instead of next to Dex and Biana couldn't have been more relieved.
"How is he?" She turned back to Elwin.
Elwin's grin widened. "He's going to be fine." He gazed tenderly at the injured boy. "He's a strong boy."
Biana smiled at Dex. "I know."
Elwin walked to his office to grab a couple of things.
Once Elwin was out of the room, Biana tangled her fingers with Dex's and squeezed his hand gently.
She sighed. "Please, wake up." Tears wetted her eyes. "I know Elwin says you'll be okay, but I'd really appreciate a sign that it's true."
He didn't stir and Biana couldn't stop herself from letting out a little sob.
She squeezed her eyes shut and a tear rolled down her cheek. She hugged herself as she sat on the edge of Dex's bed.
Suddenly, Tam burst through the door, carrying a shivering, soaked Lihn. The girl could hardly hold her head up.
Tam met Biana's gaze with wild, desperate eyes. "Where's Elwin?"
A/N
Sorry, it's a short one and it's a filler, but you all know you wanted an update on Dex. 😁
