Chapter 17

(Does anyone have a better last name for Dean and Virgil than Salgado?? Idk where I got the name or why I chose it but it doesn't sound right to me so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!)

Third Person POV

Well, day one at the Salgado's house had gone great. Roman and Virgil spent practically the whole time colouring upstairs. At one point, they began to get bored and Roman sung Virgil all the Disney songs he knew, he could actually sing pretty well for a child his age. Virgil loved to hear Roman sing and listened intently, it was relaxing and nice. While all that was happening, Remus got along with Dean quite well. Well, their time together mostly consisted of Remus talking a lot, either telling stories, kind of like Roman's except these ones were true, or asking lots and LOTS of questions, most of which made Dean question his existence.

Now it was day two, back in the Sanders house. But instead of Patton, it was Logan. The man who had absolutely no idea how to deal with children. This was going to turn out g r e a t.

Of course, Virgil had come over pretty early, around 8:00am, so a little less early than last time.

And, of course, as soon as he got there he was greeted by Roman first, then Logan, then Remus. Immediately the twins dragged Virgil upstairs while Logan and Dean had a quick "adult" conversation before Dean headed off to 'work'.

Logan questioned whether he should check up on the kids because they were awfully quiet, but was suddenly receiving a phone call from "Leo," a coworker of his, and decided that it was fine.

He sighed, "what is it now?"

Meanwhile...

"Okay, so, me and Remus-" Roman started but was cut off by his twin.

"Remus and I," he corrected, smugly, "mom said its the other person before yourself!"

"Well you just said your name first so look who's talking," Roman shot back.

"It was a correction!"

"Guys!" Virgil interrupted, motioning for Roman to continue before the brothers got too deep in their quarrel.

"Anyway, REMUS AND I were talking about what we should do when you come over today and we thought-" Roman was once again interrupted.

"I THOUGHT."

"-Remus thought that we should sneak into mom's office and see what's in there cuz we've never been inside!"

"Mmm, I have," Remus shrugged simply.

"What?! You have?!" Roman asked, shocked.

"Mhm, you really gotta stop speaking for me."

"What'd you see?!" Roman questioned.

"Uh, same as what you've seen," Remus replied in a "duh" voice.

"I've only seen it from outside when the door was open!"

"Uh huh, I didn't actually get to explore it, mom was inside, duh."

"But did you-"

"Mom's not gonna be distracted for long, we gotta go now or we'll never get to explore!" Remus interrupted his brother for the seemingly millionth time that day.

Roman turned to Virgil, "you in?"

Virgil looked down, playing with his hands, "sounds dangewous.." he whispered.

"It's not, I promise, pwetty pwease~" Roman begged in a baby voice.

"Uh.. Oki.." Virgil hesitantly agreed.

"Yay, let's go!" Roman yelled, grabbing Virgil's arm and beginning to head out while Remus followed, shushing him.

They quietly and slowly opened the door leading to the oh so secret room, peering inside.

The room was extremely dark, the curtains in front of the window at the very back of the room blocking out any light from entering.

They walked inside anyway, the door closing behind them. Virgil felt his anxiety heighten and he pressed closer to Roman. Roman understood that Virgil was scared and couldn't help but feel a bit of fear himself, though he pushed it away.

"Remus, can you turn on the light?" Roman asked.

They waited a few seconds, but got no reply. Virgil whimpered a bit as he imagined where Remus might have went or what might have taken him, he didn't like any of the possibilities that ran through his head. Whatever it was, was coming for him and Roman too!

"Remus...?" Roman called, hesitantly after getting no reply, also fearing that there may be a creature hidden in here and it just ate his brother and was now going to eat him and Virgil.

Suddenly, they began to hear strange inhuman noises, they ranged from gurgling to hissing to strange moans and seemingly came from all around them in the pitch black room.

Virgil squeaked with fear when they first sounded and found himself clinging to Roman's arm and shaking. Roman pulled out his foam sword in defense. And, for the record, yes, he did carry it on him at all times.

Suddenly, the light was switched on and the creature lounged at them!

Virgil and Roman screamed like girls and fell to the ground. Virgil seemingly played dead after that, squeezing his eyes shut and his arms. Meanwhile Roman wacked his sword at the thing repeatedly, not even bothering to look at what he was hitting.

"GIVE ME BACK MY BROTHER AND LEAVE US ALONE YOU FOUL CREATURE!" He screeched.

"ROMAN!" Remus yelled, "IT'S ME!"

Roman stopped whacking the 'creature' only to find out it was his brother all along.

"..... YOU IDIOT, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! I ALMOST KILLED YOU TO SAVE YOU!" Roman yelled, whacking his brother on the head one last time before getting up and sheathing his sword again.

Remus sat there rubbing his head, a comically confused expression on his face as he tried to make sense of what his brother just said before nodding in understanding.

Roman turned to Virgil before shaking his shoulder lightly.

"Virge? It's okay, it was just Remus."

Virgil hesitantly opened his eyes again and loosened his grip on his arms. Looking at Remus, who had started digging for gold again, he confirmed there was no threat and sat up again. They looked around the room, well, except for Remus.

The walls were a navy blue and the floors were beautiful dark spruce. The walls on either side were mostly covered by large bookshelves filled with neatly put in place boring looking books of all dull colours, mostly blue, brown and red, a few green here and there. At the very end of the room was a fancy looking desk with three drawers at the front and pocket spaces for papers and such on top. In the middle of the desk sat a sleek modern laptop, the colour of royal blue, closed and plugged in. All around the room, though mostly by the desk, sat stacks and stacks of white paper, filled with paragraphs of letters that made up into words, words that made sentences, into paragraphs and so on, until pages were filled. Some printed, some hand written in Logan's fancy handwriting that low-key looked like a doctor's signature, but a bit more readable. And, in front of the desk, was a large, comfortable looking, black office chair, with wheels at the bottom.

After seeing the chair and the fact that it had wheels, all previous ideas and urges to search the room for secrets were lost behind them as the twins looked at each other and said simultaneously, "are you thinking what I'm thinking?!"

Indeed they were because next thing you know, Remus is in the chair squealing and screeching with joy as Roman spins the chair around and around and around, while Virgil is backed up in the corner watching in fear, both of any of them getting hurt but also of getting caught and getting in trouble. Virgil did not like getting in trouble.

But, of course, Logan wasn't an idiot. Nor was he deaf. Once he was finished on his call with Leo, he want upstairs and heard all the commotion coming from inside his office. Truth be told he wanted to burst in fuming, he takes his eyes off the children for two minutes and this is what they do?! But he remained calm and opened the door widely, making his presence known. Well, for Virgil anyway, the twins were too busy having the time of their lives.

"What is going on in here?!" Logan asked, voice booming, yet monotone somehow at the same time.

The twins immediately stopped what they were doing to look up at their mother who was leaning against the door frame, arms crossed and foot tapping, showing he was getting impatient and awaiting an answer.

"Uh.. playing..?" Roman answered, though it sounded more like a question.

The twins shrinked under their mothers stern glare. Logan was very threatening and scary when he wanted to be.

"Playing. Is that so? In MY office room, where you're not allowed?" Logan looked between both his sons, waiting for another answer or explanation.

Instead he got a tug at his shirt from below.

"I sowwy.. I in twouble..?" Virgil asked, tears in his eyes. He really did not like being in trouble.

Logan's stern parent look began to falter, but he tried to hold it up.

"No, Virgil, of course not. As for you two," he said, turning back to the twins, who were now standing beside each other, in front of the chair, their hands in front of them politely with an innocent look on their face, "no.. uh.. no.. cookies! No cookies for either of you until I say so."

"Awwww...." The twins whined and pouted but other than that, didn't react much, they knew they were in the wrong. Plus they could sneak cookies at any time, it wasn't that hard.

"Now, out of my office," Logan ordered.

All the kids shuffled out of the office room and Logan watched them walk downstairs quietly. He smirked and gave himself a proud approving nod like his father would sometimes give him.

"Nice job, Logan. Nice job."
