Chapter 15

(Art by me! Kinda.. It was on an app, but yeah.. I could never actually make that..!)

Third Person POV

It was the next day, everyone was awake and getting ready to leave. Patton was going to make lunch before they left, having been all packed up already.

Remus had decided to play outside, getting bored of Roman's constant stories and Virgil's excited, happy face while he watched Roman tell it with big, curious eyes. It wasn't fair. Virgil stole Roman from him, and now he had no friends.

MeAnWhIlE-

Roman had just finished telling extravagant, yet completely over the top, extra, story about a prince saving a princess from the dreaded dragon witch. It was weird that all of Romans stories always had a dragon, or a witch, or a dragon witch.

He jumped off the table with a loud 'BOOM', catching the attention of his dad.

"ROMAN SANDERS! You're going to hurt yourself!" Pat scolded.

"Sorry, dad.." Roman apologized, sitting at the table beside Virgil once again.

Virgil giggled at Roman while he pouted about the slight scolding.

"I'm bored!" Roman whined after just a few moments of silence.

Logan, who was currently on the couch, sighed, probably out of annoyance at the constant noise, while trying to read his book.

"Why don't you go play outside with your brother?" Patton suggested, "there's only a few minutes until lunch is ready and then we have to go, might as well enjoy the outside."

"But Remus is annoying!" Roman complained.

"Roman, that's not very nice! He's your brother!" Patton scolded.

"Well Virgil doesn't like him either!" Roman defended, "right, Virgil?"

Virgil played with the cuffs of his sweater, nervously. Eyeing them as if they were the most interesting think in the world.

"W-well he scary.." Virgil started, quietly.

"See?!"

"But he sometime nice.." Virgil also defended, taking a neutral side.

Roman crossed his arms in a huff that Virgil didn't take his side.
Virgil felt bad, half because he made Roman upset and half because they were talking about Remus behind his back.

"Okay, well, maybe sometimes your brother can be a bit.. Out there. But that's no reason to exclude him or treat him like he's different. Did you ever think that he might be acting out because you're so mean to him?" Patton asked, stopping what he was doing to have a proper, serious conversation to the creative, young child.

Roman shook his head, looking down in shame, actually thinking about it.

Remus always had been silly, gross and strange, but recently it had been a bit much. Now that Roman thought about it, it started ever since Virgil showed up.

"Well then, go play with your brother." Patton said, then leaned down in front of Roman with a bit of concern in his eyes. "Try to include him in more things as well. We both know that Remus doesn't really do good with words, so its better to show him your sorry through actions instead."

Roman nodded. Patton got up with a small smile on his face.
Roman and Virgil got out of the seat, Roman walking quickly to the door, Virgil was about to follow him, but stopped in front of Logan.

"Virgil? You coming?" Roman asked after he opened the door and realised Virgil wasn't following him.

Logan looked up from his book to surprisingly see Virgil looking at him.

"Um, can I help you?" He asked.

"Book." Virgil said, pointing to it. He didn't know how to word it, so just saying book and hoping the smart man would understand.

Logan looked at the cover, "yes, this is a book."

Virgil looked frustrated and began to furiously think of how to speak what he wanted.

"He wants you to read to him!" Roman stated, still standing by the door.

Logan looked to Virgil who nodded with a smile.

"Alright then, hop up." Logan said, patting the spot next to him.

Virgil quickly obliged. Logan started from the top of the page. He knew Virgil would probably be confused, but he also knew that Virgil probably didn't care that much and would be entertained anyway.

Roman and Patton smiled at the cute sight of Virgil cuddled up next Logan with his blanket and Xantremous in his grasp. Logan pointed at each word he read.

Did you know it was scientifically proven that people who got read to as children, learned stuff much faster? Especially how to read and comprehend words!
Ah, Dean would thank Logan later.

Roman then walked out of the camper, closing the door behind him and looking around the campsite. The burnt out campfire still sat in the middle, a wooden picnic table not to far away from it. Straight ahead there was a beautiful view of the large, blue lake that sparkled in the sunshine. Trees crowded the surrounding area, tall maple trees with looming large branches, obviously the trees had been there for hundreds of years.

Roman looked around for Remus. He decided that his brother was probably in the forest considering he couldn't see him in the open.

"Remus?" Roman called out once inside the forest.

It was a little spooky, despite it being day time. Roman couldn't help but think about the scary forest scene in Snow White. He pushed that thought out of his brain and instead thought about the lovely forest in Sleeping Beauty. That didn't stop him from feeling scared, but it did ease his tension a little bit.

"Remus?" He called again.

He heard rustling from behind him, he whipped around and-

"Boo!"

"AHHHHHH!" Roman screamed, jumping backwards.

"Hahahaha! You should have seen the look on your face!" Remus laughed, hanging from a tree branch upside down.

"Not fair! That was mean!" Roman pouted angrily, crossing his arms.

"And I care why?" Remus asked, pulling himself back onto the low hanging tree branch normally.

"How'd you even get up there?" Roman asked, ignoring his earlier question.

"I climbed?" Remus stated, obviously.

"No, duh."

"Anyway, why you come out here? I thought you were hanging with your new best friend?" Remus asked.

Guilt shot through Roman at the heart. He didn't realise he had been ignoring Remus this much. Though Remus sounded completely fine, even a bit of teasing in his voice, Roman knew it probably hurt Remus to say that. The hint was 'new'.

"Virgil wanted to read with mom so I came out to play with you!" Roman said, happily.

"So, because Virgil's busy, you came to hang with me?" Remus asked, a bored expression on his face as if saying 'you're not sucking up to me that easy'

"No, we were going to play with you anyway, just Virgil didn't want to!"

"So, Virgil doesn't like me?"

"No! He likes you! He just wanted to read!"

"So, Virgil likes me but you don't? That's why you haven't been playing with me anymore?"

"No! That's not it! I like you too, I love you, you're my brother!"

"Yeah, you sure act like it!"

"Remus, you don't understand!"

"You're right, Roman! I don't understand. So tell me." Remus said, calming down at the end.

"Its just-" Roman started, but was cut off quickly.

"Lunch, guys! Then we gotta hit the road!" Patton called.

The twins shared a glance. Remus began climbing easily down the tree while Roman waited for him, making sure he got down okay. Remus did not wait for Roman however and as soon as he got down, stormed away to the camper. Roman followed behind a bit slower.

Roman was guiltily thankful that his dad interrupted him, not actually knowing what he was going to say to Remus. He didn't have an excuse for why he had stopped playing with Remus. And he didn't want to pin it on Virgil being scared and uncomfortable around him. But why couldn't Remus just understand?

The two entered the camper and ate their lunch in uncomfortable silence. Patton and Logan noticed this and shared a look that said 'well that didn't go as planned'.

-Time Skip-

The car ride home was very uncomfortable for a certain pale boy in the back. Virgil had sat in the middle, like last time, but this time, he was in between the two glaring boys. The two were either glaring at each other or glaring out the window in complete silence the entire time. The only noise to be heard came from the movie, Hercules, on the DVD player, the engine, and cars passing by.

Soon enough, (though not soon enough for Virgil's liking) they were home.

"Alright, Virgil, let's get your bag and I'll take you back to your house, okay?" Pat said once they'd parked.

Virgil nodded. The twins were already out of the vehicle, stomping away to the front door in sync.

Patton sighed, getting Virgil out of the truck and walking to the house across the street while holding Virgil's hand.
He let Virgil ring the door bell.

"Ding dong." Virgil said, mimicking the sound the button made.

Patton smiled and chuckled.

They waited a few seconds, hearing shuffling on the other side of the door.

Virgil was excited and ever so slightly anxious to see his dad again after not seeing him for two days. He wondered if his dad felt the same.

Dean opened the door, he looked tired but plastered a smile on his face. He wasn't wearing his hat and his hair was a mess. His usual semi formal attire was replaced with a casual dark grey T-shirt and dark blue jeans.

"Hi Virge!" Dean greeted his son first.

"Daddy!" Virgil squealed with excitement as Dean picked him up in his arms and hugged him.

Patton smiled widely at the adorable sight. He had to stop himself from "fangirling" and getting over excited so that he doesn't have another coughing fit.

"Thank you for taking care of him. He wasn't trouble was he?" Dean asked, finally turning to Patton.

He loved and trusted his son and knew Virgil was not a trouble maker, but he still had to ask. It was polite in his book.

"Not a problem, Virgil was great, as always!" Patton replied.

"Good." Dean smiled.

"I should go help Logan unpack. Virgil staying tomorrow?" Patton asked for confirmation.

"Actually, I'll have him for the weekend this time." Dee said.

"Okay! See you in a few days, Virgil!" Patton and the other two waved each other off and Dee shut the door.

The house looked darker than usual, having only the hallway light on.

"You got all your stuff?" Dean questioned his son while putting him down.

Virgil looked at Xantremous and his blanket and nodded. The backpack Dean had packed for him was on his back. It wouldn't really be a tragedy if he left something behind though, since they literally just live across the street.

"Did you have fun?" Dee asked, taking Virgil up the stairs so they could put his stuff away.

Virgil nodded vigorously.

"We watch Didny and swim, I fell water, and we make hot dogs and smaw-smow-smores and-!" Virgil rambled quickly, stuttering throughout making it difficult to understand.

"Whoa, whoa, Virgil! Slow down, I can't understand what you're saying and daddy is really tired, okay?"

Virgil stopped himself and nodded, a bit upset, but still understood.

They didn't end up putting Virgil's stuff away, but instead threw his backpack in the corner of a room and conducted a lazy afternoon.
