Chapter Two
Fitting the pieces
Moondancers POV:
Moondancer sat in the stone office of King Starwatchers throne room. There were about four other dragons in it. Queen Mindseer came out of a door with a book of dragon names. She looked at the list and read out two of the names. "Brightstar and Battleseeker?. King Starwatcher will see you now". Queen Mindseer told them. They got up and walked into a door in front of them. Queen Mindseer closed the door behind them. They waited for while and they saw the two dragons walk out of the room. Queen Mindseer walked from behind them. "Come again if you have any more concerns!". Queen Mindseer watched as they left the cave. She looked down at the book and seemed a bit concerned. "Betrayal and Fearful. You seem to visit quite a lot. Are you two alright?". Queen Mindseer asked them as they went into the room. Betrayal had Light Grey scales with an even lighter Grey underbelly. She had Dark Blue spikes and light Blue eyes. Fearful had Dark Grey scales with a light Grey underbelly. She had Dark Green spikes and Dark Blue eyes. Betrayal had her head down a bit as they both walked into the room. Moondancer looked at Violet and Violet looked down at her. "Are you nervous to meet them for the first time?. If you are, I was too when I first met them". Violet told her as she looked at the door. She grabbed a book from the side table and it read, How to divide or multiply numbers. Moondancer put the book down and she looked at her mom. She was now curious as to how her mom had met King Starwatcher and Queen Mindseer. "You did?. How did you met them?". Moondancer asked Violet softly. Her mom stared at the door for a moment before she blinked and looked at her. She knew that Queen Mindseer was nice from what she had heard from Violet. King Starwatcher was a bit more strict with his way of ruling. She heard that his conference room had mantles of other dragon horns who had betrayed him. When news to Starwatcher got around that members of a household weren't safe he took it seriously. He would spread small rumors about the dragon who did harm and once the dragon confronted them, he would threaten the dragon with either death or exile. "Well King Starwatcher can be a bit..... Stern at times but he is a nice dragon. Queen Mindseer is kinder than him. She can be stern at times but only when she has to. Like with Prince Thoughtkeeper and Princess Starmover!. How old are they again?". Violet asked Moondancer as she looked at the door. She thought for a moment as she tried to remember the scrolls she read that her mom had given her. She read that Prince Thoughtkeeper was Eleven and Princess Starmover was nine. "Prince Thoughtkeeper is eleven and Princess Starmover is nine. We have a scroll on it don't you remember?". Moondancer told Violet as the door to King Starwatchers throne room opened. Queen Mindseer walked out with Betrayal and Fearful. They seemed happier than when they walked in. "Your problem will be dealt with in a while, don't worry!". Queen Mindseer told them as they walked up and out of the slanted cave. "Violet and Moondancer!. Come on in!". Queen Mindseer told them happily as she held the door open for them. Violet got up before Moondancer and they walked into King Starwatcher office. He had two chairs in front of a desk which had two chairs behind it. There were two file cabinet behind the chairs. King Starwatcher was putting away two files in one of the file cabinets. When he finished putting the folders away he turned around and looked at Violet and Moondancer. Queen Mindseer sat in the chair on the right and King Starwatcher sat in the left chair. He seemed happy to see Violet but when he looked at her, he seemed confused and he had a bit of recognition in his eyes. "What do you need, Violet?. Is someone bothering you?. Are there any problems?". King Starwatcher asked Violet as he pulled his wings to him a professional way. His stars sparked a bit as he spoke. He seemed like he was reading every one of their movements and how they acted. His face was always stern and it seemed like he almost never smiled. "No, no King Starwatcher!. Everything is fine... Moondancer just had a prophecy and we were wondering if you could help us figure it out?". Violet told King Starwatcher. He glanced at Moondancer and back at Violet. His brows furrowed and he got up from his chair. He grabbed two cups from a shelf and they looked clean. "Would any of you like Tea, Coffee or Hot Cocoa?". King Starwatcher asked as he went into a separate room. Queen Mindseer looked at the room that King Starwatcher had gone into. Violet seemed hesitant. "May I have some Tea please?". Queen Mindseer asked as she let her wings down a bit. King Starwatcher nodded and looked at Violet. "Some Tea please, If you don't mind". Violet told King Starwatcher as she heard the kettle being placed on the stove. Moondancer thought it was strange that he had offered them something. She thought he supposed to stern and a bit threatening. He seemed a bit more calm as he made the tea. He made himself something else which smelt like coffee. She knew what it smelt like Drizzle and Violet had at least one cup of it every morning. King Starwatcher brought out the three cups and gave Violet her tea with his tail. He sat down across from Violet and Moondancer as he gave Queen Mindseer her tea. He glanced at Moondancer and then at Violet. "Be careful it's hot. Did you two talk about the prophecy before you got here?. Do you at least know what it's about?". King Starwatcher asked them as he whispered to Queen Mindseer. Violet nodded to him and looked at Moondancer. She looked at Violet and at King Starwatcher. She tapped her talons on the arm of the chair. "Yes, we did but we need some help figuring it out. Go on, you can tell him". Violet told her as she looked at her tea. She drank it from the cup slowly. King Starwatcher was staring at her and Queen Mindseer opened a drawer beside her and got out a pencil. She seemed like she would write it down. "The prophecy I had was a bit confusing... I don't know much about them but they seem mystical". Moondancer told King Starwatcher. He seemed eager to hear what she had to say. She prepared herself to say the prophecy. Every time she repeated it to herself it was like the words came out on their own. "With scales of purple and stars shining bright. She will stop the fight. Solar scales shining bright. Scales of rock, strongest might. Scales of Silk could end the fight. Wing of galaxy flying high. The waves will bring the sea to land. These dragonets will unite or they won't see the end of midnight". Moondancer watched as she saw Queen Mindseer write down the prophecy in her book. She put the book back into the drawer and put the pencil away. She seemed confused and looked at King Starwatcher. He sipped his coffee as he looked at Moondancer. "That sounds like an interesting prophecy. Not like the others I've heard, they are altered in a way. Do you think you know who is involved in the prophecy?. Any strange vision?". King Starwatcher asked Moondancer as Queen Mindseer finished her tea. She nodded to King Starwatcher and he seemed to wait for her answer. She remembered the vision from earlier and decided that she would bring it up. "I know one student who is involved in it. Her name is Sizzle from the Garnet Winglet. I also had a vision about a forest with vines that grew around it. I also had this strange dream...". Moondancer told King Starwatcher as she fiddled with her talons. She felt interest from him and he rested his talons on the desk. He shoved his coffee cup aside. "Go on... what did you see in you dream?". King Starwatcher asked her as he stared at her. Moondancer tried thinking of a way to explain her dream to him. She knew she didn't have to because he was smart. She wondered how much time had passed since they got here. "I saw a Blue and Turquoise colored Webwing then a droplet of water from a leaf. A Solarwing with Yellow Orange scales who I figured out was Sizzle. A light Grey Boulderwing and a crack in some rocks. I saw a dragon with their wings above their head. Then the sky turned into a Galaxy, which must mean that a Galaxywing is in a prophecy. A Dark Grey dragon who had fire coming from their wrists. For some reason I also appeared in my dream, I don't know why..". Moondancer told King Starwatcher as she looked at his empty coffee cup. Queen Mindseer seemed concerned for her but she continued drinking her tea. She looked at Violet and Queen Mindseers Dark Grey scales seemed to shimmer a bit. King Starwatcher seemed to think for a moment. He looked at his empty coffee cup and at the filing cabinet behind him. "Well you figured out the Galaxywing part and that Sizzle was in your prophecy. I'm going to help you with the other half. You are a very smart dragonet". King Starwatcher told her as he got out of his chair and turned around to the filing cabinet behind him. It was labeled, Winglets and known students. The other cabinet was labeled Dragons with caves and Organization. He looked through the one labeled Winglets and known students and he picked out Four folders. He laid them down on the desk and she leaned in to see them. King Starwatcher turned around and sat back down in his chair. He opened one of the files and it read the name Crevice. She heard about them and they were in the Lapis Winglet. They were a Boulderwing with light Grey scales with a darker Grey underbelly. They had Dark Blue eyes with light Blue spikes. They seemed happy portrait. King Starwatcher took the folder from her and some of the papers out of it. "This is Crevice. As you know, she is from the Lapis Winglet. She could be in your prophecy because you mentioned a crack in some rocks and hardened scales. Crevice is the only one that is named after that and she can harden her scales. Find her and meet up at a table that looks empty tomorrow, it will help with the rumors". King Starwatcher told her as he closed the folder and put it to his right. He pulled out another folder and opened it. It was Dewdrop from the Sapphire Winglet. He was the one who started the drama in the lunchroom with Beluga, Siren and Sawfish. He was smiling in his portrait. He had Teal scales with a lighter Turquoise underbelly. He had Brown eyes with Dark Green webbings. "Dewdrop could be in your prophecy because when water is idle on a leaf or grass. It is called dew and in your dream the water fell. So he could be important for the project". King Starwatcher told her as he closed the folder and put it with Crevices folder to his right. He grabbed the third folder and opened it. He flipped it around so Moondancer could see it. It read the name Nova, she was from the Emerald Winglet. She had a Bluish Purple body with a lighter Purple underbelly. She had a Banana Yellow galaxy in her wings and eyes were Light Brown. She was smiling and she had Dark Blue spikes. She looked at King Starwatcher and she was confused. She knew there was a Galaxywing in the prophecy but how did King Starwatcher know who it was?. Moondancer looked at her mom, Violet shrugged as she looked at King Starwatcher. "How do you know that she's in my prophecy?. Did you see her in any visions?". Moondancer asked King Starwatcher as put the third folder to his right. He looked at her and back at the folder. He put the folder on top of the other two and looked at Queen Mindseer. "Well I did have a vision about you and then I saw Nova and the rest of the flying with you. That how I know that they are in the prophecy with you". King Starwatcher told her as he laid the fourth folder in front of her. Moondancer opened the folder and it read the name Glare. She had Dark Saffron scales with a darker underbelly. She had Orange eyes and light Yellow spikes. She was smiling in her portrait. Moondancer recognized her as Glare from her Herbs and Healing class. King Starwatcher closed the folder and another dragon came into the room. He was a Dark Grey with a Light Grey underbelly. He had Dark Purplish Blackish horns with Dark Blue eyes. He had a teardrop scale by his eye so he could read minds or see the future. King Starwatcher looked up at the dragon. "Do you need anything Thoughtkeeper?". King Starwatcher asked Prince Thoughtkeeper as he stood in the doorway. Thoughtkeeper looked at Moondancer and Violet. "Father, There are two dragons in the waiting room. Also Mother, I would like to know if I could go to Truthshifters house?". Prince Thoughtkeeper asked King Starwatcher and Queen Mindseer. He had a slight British accent as he spoke. King Starwatcher looked at the door and sighed. "Alright, tell them that I'll see them in a moment". King Starwatcher told Prince Thoughtkeeper and nodded to him. "Yes, you may go to Truthshifters house. Come back around six alright?". Queen Mindseer told Prince Thoughtkeeper as she grabbed the folders on King Starwatchers desk. She put them back into the filing cabinet and sat back down in her chair. Prince Thoughtkeeper smiled at Queen Mindseer and he walked out of the room. He closed the door gently and they looked at King Starwatcher. King Starwatcher cleared his throat and looked at Moondancer. "To simplify what will happen tomorrow. You will find all four of those dragonets, meet them at the table and tell them about the prophecy. Then if you have any visions of where to go, you will go there. Do you understand?". King Starwatcher told her sternly as he looked into her eyes. She nodded to King Starwatcher and he nodded back. "But what about school?. Won't I miss work?". Moondancer asked King Starwatcher as she got out of her chair. King Starwatcher turned around and grabbed a Purple sheet of paper. He placed it on the desk and gave her a pencil. "This paper is so that when you are away from school, you are able to make up the work when you come back. I will make sure to send a scroll to each tribe telling them about your prophecy". King Starwatcher told Moondancer as she signed the paper. Queen Mindseer got out of the chair and opened the door. They both left the room and walked out of the cave. "Don't forget about tomorrow, Be careful and be safe!". Queen Mindseer told them as they walked out of the cave. They walked up the slanted slope of the smooth cave hallway.
They flew out of the cave. They saw that Dreamseer left her door open. Moondancer looked at the clock and it was 5:06 her dad would be home soon. He came home at 5:20 and sometimes he came home earlier if Queen Wave was in a good mood. She walked over to Dreamseers room and saw that she was drawing some pictures. She got closer to her and she perked her head up. "Moondancer. You're back!. How was it like when you met King Starwatcher and Queen Mindseer. Were they mean?". Dreamseer asked as she stopped drawing her pictures. Moondancer looked at Dreamseer and she glanced at the drawings. "They were kind of scary but Queen Mindseer was nice. King Starwatcher was a bit scary. He said that I had a prophecy and I had to find some other dragons". Moondancer told Dreamseer as she looked at her armband. Dreamseer seemed to think for a moment and she got excited. "Does that mean that you make more friends!. That sounds SO cool!". Dreamseer told as she pulled her into the room. She could see the drawings a bit clearer now. They seemed to be scavengers but poorly drawn. One of them was in what looked to be grass. Another one was on top of a dragons back. She realized that the dragon had the same features as Dreamseer. She looked at the other dragons and one of them was her. She saw a lot more effort put into it as she had neater lines and her scale pattern was neatly drawn. She even had the two teardrop scales by her eyes drawn correctly. "That drawing of me looks nice. Is that you?. Did you let a scavenger climb on you?". Moondancer asked Dreamseer as she looked back at the picture. Dreamseer blushed in embarrassment as she looked at her drawing. She nodded and she pointed to the scavenger in the drawing on her back. "When it was free period our teacher let us go outside for a bit and I wandered close to a scavenger den. I never thought they went far from their villages. It was smaller than the others and when it realized that I was awake, It climbed off and then it patted my talons. It squeaked at me and then ran off. The strangest scavenger I've ever met". Dreamseer told Moondancer as she pointed to the scavenger. It had Orange fluff on it s head and weird coverings. Moondancer looked at Dreamseer and tilted her head as she looked at the drawing again. "I thought that scavengers were dangerous and mean?. Moondancer told Dreamseer as she put the drawing on a desk near her bed. Dreamseer looked at her and nodded. "I thought so too but apparently not. Scavengers are weird". Dreamseer told her. She looked at Dreamseer and she noticed that she stared at the ground for a moment. She was thinking about something and she looked at her and at the Skyfire on her arm. "Earlier you said that you had a prophecy. Mom told us about her prophecy when she had to travel to that other continent. Does that mean that you have to travel somewhere?". Dreamseer asked her as she looked at her. Moondancer felt worry come from her. She knew that Dreamseer would be nervous without her there. She wondered how long the prophecy would take. Moondancer nodded to Dreamseer as she looked at the floor. Her talons tapped against the floor nervously and she thought about how she would tell her dad about this. She looked at the clock and it was now 5:10 she heard the front door open and Drizzle walked into the house smiling. Moondancer was the first to hug him. Dreamseer came over to hug him as well and he laughed. "Hello Moondancer and Dreamseer!. I can see that you're excited to see me!. How was school today?. Did you both do well on your projects?". Drizzle asked as he hung his bag on a rock with Violets. Violet worked as a Lawyer for dragons who thought things were unfair or when crimes had been committed. She often spoke with the clients, conducted research about the case and analyzed legal issues. She usually during Martis' and Lovis' and she worked nights. "School was fun!. I think I did better than Moondancer on my project!". Dreamseer told Drizzle happily as she looked at him. She lit up her scales and said something in Aquatic. Will we have more cake now?. Dreamseer flashed to Drizzle. He smiled at her and flashed back at her. Yes. After I see how Moondancers day was. We can have all the cake we want!. Drizzle flashed to Dreamseer as he looked at her. Even though she only had bioluminescent scales under her eyes, Drizzle still taught her Aquatic. The only words she could do in Aquatic were How, why and when. Drizzle looked at her and smiled. "What about you Moondancer?. How was your day and how did you do on your project?". Drizzle asked her as he walked to the kitchen. Moondancer followed him as she knew he was getting ready to cut the cake. He grabbed a butter knife from a drawer and grabbed the cake from the oven. "My day was well. I know that I did well on my project. Mrs. Storydreamer said so". Moondancer told Drizzle as he placed the cake on the counter. She was excited as she looked at the cake. She loved sweets, even more than Dreamseer. Whenever it was the weekend, All of them would go to large markets called tag sales. There were a lot of dragons there who sold sweets and they would happily buy her sweets whenever she asked. She never brought too much and she only bought the ones she liked. The ones she liked most were the ones that sold chocolate with caramel or the ones with fudge inside. There were also honeycomb jars that they traded with Aithria for appliances. She usually put honeycomb with her lunch on the days that she bought it to school. "Are you going to tell him about what happened today?". Dreamseer told Drizzle as he cut the cake. He opened the cabinet as he looked at her while he grabbed two plates. Drizzle looked back at Dreamseer and flashed a question mark with Aquatic. Moondancer froze and she forgot that Dreamseer couldn't keep secrets. "What happened?. Did one of you get in trouble?". Drizzle asked as he put the two plates on the counter. He looked at both of them a bit sternly. Dreamseer looked at Moondancer and fit closer to her. "Tell him about the prophecy". Dreamseer whispered to Moondancer as she looked at Drizzle. Dreamseer backed away from Moondancers left as Drizzle cut into the cake. It was the same cake from yesterday that he had made when they both come home from school. Every time they came home from school, either Violet or Drizzle would make them small snacks. Stuff like Cakes, cookies an brownies so they had snacks when they got home from school. "N-No but something happened today- well yesterday". Moondancer stuttered as she told Drizzle. He walked out of the kitchen with the two plates of cake and set them on the table. He went back into the kitchen to grab two forks and he gave them both a fork. He sat on the couch as Moondancer and Dreamseer ate their cake. Drizzle gills puffed in excitement as he looked at Moondancer. "So what happened?. Was it a vision?. What was it?". Drizzle asked Moondancer she ate her cake. She wanted to tell her dad but she was nervous about it. She didn't know why he was nervous as well. It was like he was nervous about what she was going to tell him. Did Violet already tell him?. Did Dreamseer overhear them and tell him?. It was possible and she knew that Drizzle would've known about it. Moondancer hoped he wouldn't freak out about the prophecy. "I-I have a prophecy and I have to go to Aithria to solve it". Moondancer told Drizzle. He was even more nervous as he looked at her. She wanted to take of her Skyfire armband but he would notice. She felt recognition and worry from him. What was he worried about and why did he have a sense of recognition?. Did it remind him of her mother's prophecy that he was in?. He looked at the clock and it was 5:28. He looked at them as they finished their cake. "When that happens I hope you stay safe. Stay close to your group and if you meet someone named Tarantula, Widow or Queen Arachnie. Tell them me and your mother said hi". Drizzle said as he went into the kitchen. Dreamseer slowly turned her head towards Moondancer. Her gills shivered excitedly as she followed Drizzle into the kitchen. "Can you bring back some cool food or something from there when you get there?. Pleeeaaaase?". Dreamseer pleaded to her as Moondancer followed her to the kitchen. Drizzle turned on the oven and he grabbed a piece of chicken from the fridge and grabbed a pan from above him. "I hope both of you didn't fill up on that cake, because we're having dinner in a few minutes". Drizzle told them as he began cooking. Dreamseer got close to the chicken in the pan as Drizzle cooked. She backed away a bit and Moondancer nodded. "Sure, I'll try. What are we having for dinner?". Moondancer asked Drizzle as she heard her mom come out of her room from down the hallway. Drizzle added something to the chicken and he grabbed another pot as he got some potatoes from a drawer below him. "We're having chicken and mashed potato's for dinner!. You'll enjoy it!". Drizzle told them as Violet walked into the kitchen. She was holding a newspaper and top of it read, Deadly sickness spreads across Aithria!. "Hey Violet!. How was your day!. What are you reading?". Drizzle asked Violet as he glanced at the newspaper. It seemed like he noticed the title as his eyes widened slightly. He continued making dinner and soon it was finished. They had all eaten dinner and were going to bed. Violet brought her bag into her room and took it off of the hanger. Dreamseer and Moondancer helped clean off the table and she glanced at the newspaper and read some of it. At 12:32 a few months ago Seamwing janitor, Celler, suddenly got a sickness we like to call the Kiss of Death. He sadly passed away from the sickness and his family members were grief stricken. While we have found out how to tell the difference, local coffee and chocolate companies are advised to be careful of this deadly bean. Moondancer looked away from the paper and continued bringing the dishes to the sink. When she was done she walked to her bedroom and thought about something else instead of the prophecy.
If the sickness was in Aithria, was it in Serrene?. If it was, how dangerous could it be?. If the sickness was a bean, did her mom and dad already have it?.
