So, Heather moved back with her family and Jeff aged out of scouts. For about three years there was little contact with Heather, save a letter here and there. But on the third year of her absence, Heather (who was now 16) and her siblings were finally adopted. After that, the visits became a lot more frequent. Since Jeff and Craig were in college, they had an easier time swinging up a few states to see the Lettys. Heather dropped in every few months at the ranch. And so it continued for years, and probably will continue 'til the day we all die. But needless to say, we never did and we never will forget the girl who lost everything.
