Chapter 9- Beginning of End

From anger there comes delusion; from delusion, the loss of memory; from the loss of memory,
the destruction of discrimination; and with the destruction of discrimination, he is lost.

-Gita Shlok

She asked the worried-looking Pratima about the whereabouts of Abhimanyu. Pratima is the handmaid of Draupadi and in no way wasn't strictly ordered by her queen to take care of her little warrior and above all, every maid is in love with the copper eyes charming boy he is. Though all the kids are loved by everyone Abhi has a special place in everyone's heart. Pratima informed her worriedly that Abhimanyu is missing no one can find him. Earlier whenever such a situation occurred only the fireborn empress can find him. It seems like she just knew somehow in her soul where he is hiding. They are called the soul mother-child for a reason.

Other than her no one can find their beloved prince it is considered that he got these qualities from his not-so-famous uncle the mighty Dwarkadhish. Subhadra shakes her head a little at her son's antiques. She gestured to Pratima through her eyes that she will find him. The handmaid relaxed a bit but was still confused because before that she never saw Subhadra ever looking for Abhi. She tried to remember one such incident when Subhadra looked for her son but she wasn't able to recall one. She only gets the flashes of Subhadra's calm smile like she is completely aware of what's happening so she never tried. Everyone is unable to understand this attitude of her. Even once Drau asked the reason for this and Subhadra just smiled in response. Meanwhile, Subhadra closed her eyes and just whispered lightly

"Abhi where are you son?"

Within a few seconds, the little boy appeared from Draupadi's room wrapped in her Angavastra while keeping one of its stone-studded corner in his mouth and clutching the other in his fist. He walked towards his mother not trying to trip. Pratima looked in wonder how he heard her mother's whisper when she just heard it faintly standing close to her. Subhadra picked her little one lulling him that he missed his Badi ma.

"So, who my son loves the most?" Subhadra lulled kissing his chubby cheeks.

"Badi ma." He replied clutching her neck tightly in a bear hug proving something entirely different. No matter whatever the kid says his mother is always going to be his first and foremost love, a love that will define his destiny. The Dwarka princess left the place to check the preparation leaving Pratima questioning in wonder "How?" Her question is answered by the other fire born.

"They are Subhadra and Abhi what to expect do anyone here is left from her charm? They are related to the mighty Dwarkadhish, their bond is something completely undecipherable. They are completely unearthly so does their bond. You and I can only wonder so better instead of questioning just watch it unfold." Pratima just nodded in awe.

Meanwhile in Hastinapur Duryodhan can't get over with celebrating his victory. Today he almost won everything. He knew that his Dharmraj brother won't return a single day before completion so he doesn't have to worry at least for 12 years. In the last year of exile, all he has to do is to find where they are hiding and they will go on another exile for the next 13 years.

While Gandharraj Shakuni is happy that he finally got succeeded in destroying Kuruvansh to an extent. Karna is one side happy he got revenge for his insult but on the other hand the way they took for it doesn't let him rest peacefully. He remembered how his father refused to acknowledge him anymore while for the first time he saw the pain and shame in his mother and wife's eyes. He knew this action of his made them feel disgusted as a woman.

To lessen his guilt to an extent he decided to stay on the bank of Ganga at the outskirts of Hastinapur. He refused to go as representative leading the Hastinapur army for taking the Indraprasth palace under control. He was sure Pandavas must have left till now but he doesn't find the courage to encounter the younger Dwarka princess or any of the kids. Duryodhan happy with the victory doesn't force him to go.

Meanwhile, Dwarkadhish chuckled humorlessly at this situation.

"Looks like some soul is left in him still." These words escaped his lips catching his sister off guard who just arrived to call him for their journey. Everyone is ready to take this journey without any certainty of their return. Who knows this might be the last journey for some. Something in Subhadra and Dhri both concise is telling them that they won't ever return to see this palace again. So after getting ready they decided to take a final tour of the palace along with their kids.

After their emotional farewell to their home, Dhri decided to wait outside the palace premises with kids and the Dwarka princess decided to call her brother who is nowhere in sight. On reaching his room she found him talking to himself as usual. On asking Krishna as always shake off the question; she too is not in the sense to persuade him further. Taking a last look at the illusionary palace they finally left it to start a beginning towards an evitable end.

"True no matter how magnificent an illusion is it will end one day for sure." The goddess of illusion chuckled bitterly at this ending journey.

"Well in this cosmos change is the only constant. Everything changes except the change itself." Krishna replied in a heavy voice looking at the six pair of innocent eyes which has nothing to do with any of this but they have to give the ultimate sacrifice.

"I think we should leave now it's already afternoon. We have to cross the borders of Hastinapur before it gets dark and the Hastinapur army enters here" They ride the chariots and leave giving farewell to all the citizens with wet eyes and joined hands. All the workers and citizens just keep watching their every happy princess and beloved prince leaving forever.

After riding for hours they are finally out of the borders of Indraprasth. It started getting and kids are getting hungry they decided to camp in the near woods. It is difficult to travel in the dark and everyone is tired so they stopped nearby a wild river. The small troop of soldiers traveling with them for safety set up the camps after a quick checking of location.

Subhadra feeds the kids and tucked them to sleep. Soldiers have their dinner after feeding the horses. Now they are resting too that too alert for any danger. Subhadra asked both the men to take a rest as they have to leave early morning. She was about to leave after instructing accompanied by the Panchal prince when Krishna decided to break the news running in their mind.

"Before both of you retire for the night I wanted to inform you that tomorrow morning you both have to lead the journey of Dwarka together as I won't follow"

"What and why so? Where are you leaving now?" Both asked in unison bewildered by this new piece of information.

"I have an unfinished business to look after. I have to stop by somewhere to pave a way for these 13 years. Tell Dau and Shree that I will return soon so don't get worried or upset. Take care of each other during the journey I will join both of you in Dwarka." He finished his revelation with a small smile. He is well aware that neither his elder brother nor his chief queen would be pleased with this decision of his but he has to finish this meeting. This is important for the kids.

The next morning they parted their way. Dhri guided Subhadra and the kids to Dwarka while Krishna left to meet this mysterious personality. After a journey of 2 and a half-day, they finally reached Dwarka to found their family standing at the door to welcome them. As Krishna's expected both Dau and Shree Rukmini is not at all pleased with this decision of his. They look at each other before rushing towards the kids to welcome them.

Everyone hug Subhadra and the kids giving them a sense of comfort. Dhri and the kids are pleased by the warm welcome. As usual, everyone is held captive by the charm of Subhadra's son. Shree Rukmini and Bhudevi Satyabhama are under the spell of his charm. Rukmini hugged the kid keeping him close to her healing the pain of the loss of her son. She promised herself that she will raise him like her own, while other queens took the rest kids with them.

Rukmini handed over Abhi to Satyabhama requesting her to take care of him and left to take care of Subhadra. Being the Mahalakshmi and Yogmaya their bond is so unearthly. In this devastated state of her only she can take care of her. Satyabhama is awed by the wonderful kids took him tickling and pampering him enjoying his antiques. While Abhimanyu is enjoying all the love and attention one pair of eyes is not at all happy with this. Jealousy, envy, and anger are completely visible in those eyes showing the displeasure of the owner with all this.

Meanwhile on the banks of Ganga Karna finished his evening prayers and donation. Sitting on the banks he was watching the highs and lows of waves matching it with life when a known voice fell in his ears catching him off guard. He turned around to find the Lord of the universe himself.
