Gabriella was the first to wake up.

Then Octavia. Then Bellamy and Jasper. And lastly, Clarke and Wells.

"Where the hell are we?" Bellamy asked and when she finally managed to focus on her surroundings, Gabriella felt like they weren't on the ground.

"I think we're on a ship?" she said but it came out as a question rather than a statement.

"My sword is gone." Octavia said in a panicked voice.

Gabriella put her fingers in the inside of her boot and noted, "My knife is gone too."

"Guns too." Jasper added, getting to his feet.

Clarke's eyes briefly widened and she rushed to check for the small container holding the flame in her bag, sighing in relief when she saw it was still here.

Octavia started hanging on the wall of the big metal box that gave Gabriella a huge sense of deja vu. Soon enough, the doors of the box opened and the same woman from Lincoln's book stepped inside.

"Luna." Octavia gasped in realization, but Luna didn't look that welcoming.

"Where's Lincoln?" was the first thing she asked and the youngest Blake's face fell at her question.

"Lincoln is dead."

Luna's eyes fell shut briefly and when she opened them, her face was colder than before.

Clarke didn't sense her shift in demeanor and said, "Lincoln said that you would help us."

"Did he?" Luna raised her eyebrows, not looking that impressed by Clarke's straight-forwardness.

"Luna, you're the last of your kind," Clarke informed her softly, like she was telling her some great news, "the last nightblood."

"So Lexa's dead as well." Luna drawled out emotionlessly.

Clarke's face briefly fell but she continued, "Her spirit has chosen you to become the next Commander. Titus entrusted me with the flame to give you to."

The nightblood narrowed her eyes, "Then he should have told you that I lefty conclave swearing to never kill again."

"You don't have to kill." Clarke pushed, her inability to read the room showing once again, "To lead is your birthright. How you lead is your choice." she stepped closer to her with the flame in her hand.

"I recognize the sacred symbol but what is that?" Luna asked curiously.

"This is the flame. It holds the spirits of the Commanders . . . of Lexa." Clarke explained, "Will you take it and become the next Commander?"

While everyone was staring at her hopefully, Luna only stared at Clarke for a few seconds, before closing her hand around the flame and simply answering, "No."

And then she was gone.

Blinking in surprise, Gabriella sighed, "Well that went well."

Clarke and Octavia shared a short look and then rushed out of the box together, after Luna.

Sharing a skeptical look with Bellamy, Wells and Jasper, Gabriella followed them outside, only to stop at the sight of them standing on some sort of building above water.

What the hell was this place?

-

"What the hell have we walked into?" Gabriella muttered, leaning against the same box Bellamy was leaning on as the sound of a girl dramatically reciting some sort of speech fading into the background of the semi crowded room they found themselves sitting in.

Bellamy sighed from above her, finally removing his gaze from the people looking at them and looking at the blonde, "I have no idea."

"She's here." Wells' words made everyone's attention snap to the doorway where Luna was standing.

"Maybe she changed her mind." Bellamy said, nudging Gabriella's shoulder with his hand and getting to his feet. Sighing, she followed too and the two of them made their way to Luna with Clarke behind them.

"The boats return at nightfall." the nightblood told them, her words making their faces fall, "Then you leave. Forever."

"Luna, let us explain." Clarke tried but Luna cut her off without hesitation.

"I said no."

"No, you need to hear this." Bellamy said desperately, blocking her path. When she gave him an expectant look, he continued, "There is something out there that is going to destroy us all."

Still, Luna didn't budge, "Whatever is it, it can't reach us here."

When she moved to walk away, neither of them stopped her and instead, turned to each other.

"What the hell are we supposed to do now?" Gabriella asked, shaking her head to herself, "I mean we can't actually fight ALIE on our own without a nightblood taking the flame."

"There is still plenty of time until nightfall." Clarke said in a not so convincing tone, "We have time to convince her until then."

-

Gabriella watched from a distance and with a small smile as Jasper talked to one of the girls from this place. She was pretty sure her name was Shay and she seemed nice but the best thing about her was the fact that she made Jasper actually smile for more than two seconds.

"Jasper's actually smiling." Bellamy voiced her thoughts with a smile of his own. He looked at Gabriella and they shared a small smile, them being the only ones actually looking around at everything around them unlike the others who were too busy sulking to take a few moments to breathe.

"Clarke, let it go." Wells huffed when Clarke gave Luna, who was standing across the room, a side glare.

"We can't just leave." she argued without missing a beat, her words causing Octavia to roll her eyes.

"It's not like we have much of a choice." her voice was bitter as she messed with a piece of small string from her shirt in her hand.

"Maybe we do." Clarke's words were quiet but enough to make all four of them shift their focus to her.

Bellamy furrowed his eyebrows, "What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about putting this into her head without asking." the Griffin said while holding up the container with the flame inside of it.

Her words made Gabriella's eyes widen in an instant and then they narrowed into a glare, "Are you out of your mind?" she hissed quietly, trying not to draw any unnecessary attention to them, "You want to shove a chip into her head without consent? That's got to be some form of abuse or something."

"No way, Clarke." Octavia agreed, looking at her in disbelief, "This isn't like Emerson. He was trying to kill us."

"You think I don't know that?"

"Well, do you?" Gabriella retorted, "Not 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 is trying to murder us. And if they are it's usually because we do something as stupid as this to provoke them."

Bellamy nodded, "We can just fight. We go back to Arkadia. We arm up─"

"Fight who?" Clarke cut him off with an unimpressed look, "It's an army of our own people. I don't like this any more than you do. But if Raven's right, and the code on this thing can stop ALIE," her words were cut off by a few grounders arguing in the background and she continued a moment later with an expectant look on her face, "Give me a better idea."

Letting out a huff, Wells squinted at her in disbelief, "I don't know; how about we don't try and start another war with a different clan of grounders?"

"We should stay here." Bellamy hesitantly said after a few moments of silence. Seeing the look Gabriella was giving him he added, "It's the only way they'll leave Clarke alone with Luna."

"Even ALIE gives people a choice." Octavia reminded them harshly and Gabriella couldn't help but nod in agreement, getting to her feet.

"You guys do whatever the hell you want but I'm not taking any part of this. I'm leaving at nightfall and then going back to Arkadia to help the others do something that's actually useful." she gave them one last look before walking outside to get some air.

-

Gabriella learned that she loved the smell of the sea and that if she could choose any place to settle down after all this bullshit was over ( well if it was ever over ) it would be next to the beach.

The entire conversation from earlier was honestly giving her a headache so a little bit of fresh air made her relax while Clarke was fucking everything up by putting the flame into Luna.

According to Bellamy, who came to get her earlier and told her they were leaving, Luna managed to realize Clarke's plan and stop her and as a result they were all leaving now.

"Where's Jasper?" she asked when she and Bellamy joined the others.

"Saying goodbye to his new friend." Octavia responded as someone opened the doors that led them to the ship which also revealed Luna who gave the grounder behind them a slightly apologetic look.

"Sorry, Cap. You gotta take them back." she threw a bag full of their stuff into the box, "Your gear. You get your weapons once you land."

"Fair enough." Gabriella sighed, giving Luna an apologetic look, "Sorry for the trouble."

Short surprise flashed over the nightblood's face but then she nodded and they were pushed into the box they came in.

Gabriella stayed on the edge though, waiting for Jasper but also subtly listening in to Luna and Clarke's conversation.

"The flame?" the latter raised an eyebrow and Luna hesitated before pulling it out.

"Remember, Clarke." her words were a hidden warning, "The path of violence is a choice."

Clarke narrowed her eyes at her, "When the choice is fight or die, there is no choice."

She reached forward to take the flame in her hand, only for a grounder to throw himself between the two of them. Another grounder kicked Luna in the back, a second pushed Clarke inside the box and the third pushed Gabriella inside, the last two immediately closing the door and locking them.

"What the fuck?" Gabriella yelled, banging on the door.

Octavia stared at the door in disbelief, "They took the flame. They're locking us in."

"Hey!" Clarke joined them in banging on the door, "What is this?"

"Luna's people are attacking her." Bellamy gasped behind them, his words making Gabriella's head snap around and their eyes connected when he added, "ALIE is here."

"Fuck." the Hastings girl cursed, kicking the metal door with her foot.

-

The entire time they were inside, the only thing they were able to hear was Luna's screams of pain all while Bellamy and Gabriella were trying to kick the doors, Wells quiting a long time ago when he said there was no point because they were locked inside.

"How did ALIE even find this place?" Octavia asked loudly from the other side of the box, pointing her flashlight towards them.

Bellamy stared at the floor for a couple of seconds before announcing, "There was a drone at Niylah's. She must have followed us looking for the flame and now she has it."

Gabriella squinted at him in disbelief, "And you didn't think to tell us this before? Seriously?" she bit her bottom lip hard enough for it to bleed, kicking the door once more with her foot, ignoring the harsh pain, "Damn it."

-

Luna's screaming soon came to a stop and Gabriella froze at the sound of a familiar male voice coming from the outside.

"Ella, you're just going to hurt yourself."

"Shut up, Jaha." she cut Wells off, putting her ear to the door and trying to hear what was going on outside.

"It's the chip in his hand." Jasper's voice spoke and Gabriella really hoped her had enough strength to not take the chip.

Her eyes widened when she heard him grunt in pain over and over again and banged on the doors with her fists repeatedly.

"Stop torturing him." she yelled, her voice slightly hoarse, "Leave him alone!"

She felt arms wrap around her waist and she was pulled away from the door. Bellamy's soft reassuring voice whispered in her ear, "Calm down, okay? There's nothing you can do. Jasper will be fine. They'll get bored of him and move back to torturing Luna." his eyes moved to the rest of them once Gabriella calmed down, "She's gonna put the A.I in her."

"She would have to chip her first." Clarke said from her spot next to Wells on the floor, her eyes turning panicked as realization hit her, "If Luna's chipped before she gets the A.I, ALIE's gonna know everything. We'll never be able to stop her. We can't let that happen."

She rushed towards the door, doing the same thing Gabriella and Bellamy have been doing since they have been locked up here and banging on the door like her doing it instead was actually going to do something.

Surprise, it didn't.

"I'm sorry, Luna." Octavia's whisper echoed through the room when they only heard Luna's screams increase.

-

"This place was safe until we got here." Octavia drawled out in a bored voice as she shone her flashlight along the walls of the metal box.

The screaming and groaning disappeared a long time ago and they could have only guessed they got tired of them banging on the box and decided to move them.

Gabriella rested the back of her head against the wall and gave her a side glance, raising an eyebrow, "Isn't that what we always do? Ruin all things good?"

"It certainly seems like something we're good at." Wells added with a sigh and just as the words escaped his lips, they heard the sound of the box unlocking and all instantly hurries to their feet.

Gabriella rushed to the doors, opening them completely and looking outside to see Shay gasping on the floor with blood dropping from her lips and an arrow in her back.

"Oh, my god." Clarke gasped, sitting next to her on the floor while the other four looked around the room to see if anyone else was there but there wasn't.

"Machine room." Shay's weak words made all eyes snap towards her, "B-Level."

Those were her last words before she let out a stuttering breath and her eyes fell shut. Gabriella stared at her in shock before looking and looking between the others.

"Let's go."

-

They rushed towards B-Level, quickly locating the machine room. Gabriella and Octavia were the first ones to barge into the room, ignoring Bellamy and Wells yelling after them to be careful.

Gabriella's eyes were wide as she took in everything in the room. Luna was hugging one of her friends as he stared up at the sky with no life in his eyes. Jasper was strapped by his hands and legs in the back of the room, hanging from the ceiling and a little girl was shaking in the corner.

While Octavia rushed towards the girl, Gabriella immediately went to Jasper's side, her face worried as she stated at the wounds all over his face and body.

"Hi." he gave her a toothy grin and Gabriella tried her hardest to ignore Luna crying at the loss of her friend as she unchained Jasper.

"You okay?" she asked him and although it was obvious he wasn't, he still nodded.

"I'm fine." he said shakily, "They couldn't break me."

Gabriella gave him a weak smile when she was done unchanging him, "Didn't doubt you one bit."

He barely returned the smile, and then hesitantly asked, "Where's Shay?"

The blonde felt her blood run cold, not really wanting to be the person that told Jasper he lost the person that finally made him smile this much after months. Especially since she knew that everyone saw how similar she was to Maya, "It was ── it was already too late when we found her. I'm sorry."

Jasper swallowed, refusing to show any emotion and nodded in almost defeat, "It's what we do."

Nodding, Gabriella set down his chains and moved to walk away, only for Jasper to grab her by her wrist. She turned around with furrowed eyebrows only to see his eyes were filled with tears and there was a sad smile on his face.

"For what it's worth I forgive you." he squeezed her wrist, shrugging when her mouth fell open in surprise, "Life is too short to stay mad at one of your best friends forever."

Gabriella felt her eyes tear up as she threw her hands around his neck and pulled him into a hug, the buzz cut boy only hesitating for a second before hugging her back.

"I'm sorry." she told him for what felt like the hundredth time since Mount Weather but this time, his voice wasn't cold or emotionless.

"I'm sorry too."
