"𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬-𝘶𝘱."

The alarms were ringing through Arkadia as Gabriella and Bellamy rushed out of their room and towards lock-up, the small moment they were having before being forgotten as panic replaced the butterflies that previously found their way into their stomachs.

When they arrived at where the grounders were locked up, Gabriella first saw James clinging to his stomach in pain on the floor and then she noticed one of the guards launching himself on Lincoln's back and she didn't hesitate to pull out the small gun in her jeans and shoot him straight in the shoulder.

James was quick to get to his feet and caught Gabriella's wrist, pinning her towards the metal wall and glaring down at her as another grounder tried fighting Lincoln.

"I knew I couldn't trust you." he spat out, caging her body with his own. She tried to fight out of his grip and was about to knee him between his legs, when Bellamy beat her to it by slamming the back of his gun on the back of James' head.

Gabriella sighed in relief and gave Bellamy a thankful nod. A moment later, Harper ran into the room and electrified one of the guards. She rushed towards Gabriella and Bellamy, grabbed each of them by their wrists and pulled them away from the big fight and around the corner.

"It worked. We're clear." she said into the walkie in her hand, "The guards have their hands full."

Kane's voice soon came from the walkie, "𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘯?"

"𝘞𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶." Philip responded almost immediately.

"𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘸𝘰."

Gabriella sighed at her step father's words and flinched at the sound of the guards and the grounders still fighting. She looked towards Harper expectantly, "What now?"

She was really annoyed that she didn't make Bellamy tell her the entire plan earlier and instead, chose to spend her few minutes of freedom gazing into his eyes like a lovesick teenage girl.

"Kane got Pike into the rover and is carrying him to Polis." Harper informed them, "We have to hide though. They will have our asses once they find us after they realize what happened."

While Gabriella was a little annoyed she had to go into hiding like she did in Mount Weather in those damn vents but she was glad everything was going according to plan.

"𝘎𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺, 𝘑𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘴!"

Gabriella halted in her movements and felt her eyes slightly widening at Kane's voice coming from the walkie in Harper's hand. Bellamy watched the way she froze and stared at the walkie and instantly knew what she was thinking.

"Gabi ── "

The warning didn't even leave his mouth before Gabriella was turning on her heel and practically sprinting down the hallway. Her mind wasn't working for once and her feet were carrying her straight towards the exit and the camp gates. Her breath was almost knocked out of her lungs when she saw the way at least ten guards were facing Kane with their guns raised in the air and aimed at him, completely blocking the gates.

There was no way Kane was going to try and run them over just to get out of Arkadia. That wasn't who he was anymore and Gabriella knew that. That was probably the exact reason she didn't move to hide when Kane peacefully exited the rover and allowed them to arrest him. Nor did she move when James' eyes connected with her own and he moved to put her in handcuffs.

They got into shit mess together so they were going to face the consequences together too.

-

After Kane arrested Gabriella exactly ten days before her seventeenth birthday and Gabriella swore to herself she would hate him until the day she got floated, she definitely wasn't expecting to be sat by his side in front of Charles Pike as they were both charged for treason.

"As you know, the terms of martial law and of the Exodus Charter give me both latitude and ultimate authority in determining your punishment." Pike spoke, looking between Gabriella and her uncle, "Do you have anything to say for yourselves?"

Gabriella didn't want to give him the satisfaction of saying anything so she just responded with a glare, while also trying to ignore the way Bellamy's eyes haven't left her since he entered the room.

Kane on the other hand, stared Pike dead in the eye and said, "I admire your adherence to the rule of law, I really do. But these are times when we have to look beyond the rules to realize they were established to serve a world of the past, not of the future. I beg you one last time to see the world as it is, not as it was or as you want it to be."

Pike simply shook his head and scoffed, "And I hope you believe that if I thought for one minute that turning myself over to the enemy would secure the safety of our people I would do it but only a deluded man would believe that and only a guilty man would try to tell him so."

An unwilling scoff escaped Gabriella's lips and the second Pike turned to her and raised an unimpressed eyebrow her glare was unwavering, "I guess you really are a bigger idiot than I thought you were."

The Chancellor's face turned stone cold and he took a few steps away from the table Gabriella and Kane were sitting out, "Gabriella Hastings, Marcus Kane, for the crimes of treason, kidnapping, assaulting a guard, and attempted murder, I hereby sentence you to death. Take them away."

Gabriella clenched her jaw at his words but otherwise kept quiet. Bellamy, on the other hand, was not anywhere calm as she was and the second two guards grabbed a hold of her, moved to walk towards her, only for James to stand in front of him and push him back.

"Gabi ── " Bellamy started with tears gathering in his eyes and Gabriella's heart broke at the guilty look he was wearing so she tried her hardest to give him a small smile but it looked more like a grimace than anything.

"I'll be fine."

This time, neither of them were so sure of that.

-

Gabriella felt like all the emotion was sucked out of her when she and Kane were brought into the cell where Sinclair, Lincoln and a few grounders were waiting.

She didn't even have it in her to be amused at the look of astonishment that passed across Lincoln's face when he saw the handcuffs on her wrists. Sinclair was watching the two of them with sad eyes while Lincoln's face shone with realization, meaning he was only now realizing she was in fact on their side all along.

The Hastings girl let out a defeated sigh when she flopped down on the bench next to Lincoln. She gave him a blank look and bumped their elbows together, "Long time no see."

The grounder didn't seem to appreciate her dry and somehow snarky voice as he usually would and shook his head instead, "What went wrong?"

"James was being an idiot and got to the gates before Kane got Pike out." Gabriella explained, shrugging one of her shoulders, "The two of us are sentenced to death."

Lincoln's eyes widened and he looked at the floor in disbelief, "Pike is killing his own people now?"

Gabriella rested one of her elbows on her knee which she lifted to her chest and then layed her chin on her hand, "I guess it was only a matter of time."

-

"You inspire them." Kane's soft words broke Gabriella out of her tired daze. His words were directed towards Lincoln and while she didn't have the energy to voice her agreement, she simply nodded and rested her head on the metal wall behind her.

They've been here for almost twenty four hours and she didn't get a blink of sleep, despite her step-father pushing her to try and sleep. After a few hours of trying, he stopped and chose to sit there in silence since he finally caught up to the fact that she wasn't in the mood for talking.

Lincoln gave him a weak smile in response and then sat on his other side. He rubbed his hands together and confidently stated, "I'm not gonna let you two give up, either."

"I think it's a little late for that, Linc." Gabriella sighed, squeezing her eyes shut when she felt a sharp pain rip through her head. It was the only thing that made her realize what the lack of sleep she was having was doing to her but still, she ignored it.

Lincoln must have noticed the way she slightly winced because his face soon morphed into one of worry, "You okay?"

"Yeah, just a small headache." Gabriella brushed it off and she could see both Kane and Lincoln were about to argue but the doors soon opened and one of the guards ( James? ) announced.

"Chancellor on deck."

Shit. Gabriella thought, her body going rigid as Pike walked up to the bars with James and Bellamy by his side.

"I thought we had more time." Kane voiced her thoughts. He side eyed her and the second he realized how terrified she actually was, he reached towards her and grabbed her hand squeezing it in comfort.

Gabriella ignored the fact that it didn't bring her any comfort. Maybe it would have if he wasn't such a terrible father her entire life. Instead of focusing on that, she focused on what was really bringing her comfort at the moment; the way Bellamy was staring at her through the bars that separated them.

He was wearing a look she was all too familiar with and while it brought her comfort, it made her a bit scared too. He had a plan. And both of them knew just how bad his plans tended to go.

"I'm not here for you." Pike said, clearly hearing Kane's quiet murmur. He shifted his gaze to the grounders in the cell and announced, "Each of you is guilty of the same crimes as Kane and Gabriella, and as such, you will share the same fate; death."

"What is he saying?" one of the female grounders Lincoln was talking to earlier demanded as she got to her feet and Lincoln was quick to assure her.

"Don't worry." he said softly and then walked up to the bars separating them from Pike, "My people are innocent, they know nothing. Don't let them suffer for my crimes, please."

"Sir." Bellamy chimed in, his voice slightly hoarse and it didn't take Gabriella long before she took in his red eyes and she realized he was crying, "Lincoln's right. All the others did was run through an open door, the same thing we would do if we were in there."

While James glared at the side of Bellamy's head, Pike surprisingly nodded, "I believe that's true. Kane, Gabriella, Lincoln, Sinclair, as the leaders of this coup, you will pay for your crimes with your lives. Execution is set for dawn."

Gabriella's eyes were narrowed into a harsh glare and it was filled with angry tears. Her fists were clenched and her nails were digging into the palm of her hand as she watched Pike storm out of the room. Just because she made the stupid decision of trying to fuck Pike over, one of the most important people in her life were going to die.

And it was all her fault.

At least she wasn't going to suffer her entire life with that guilt because she was going to die along with them.

-

To everyone's surprise, both Kane and Gabriella got to have a short conversation with someone before they were getting executed. Gabriella was a hundred percent sure her step father was going to talk to Abby but when she stepped into the visiting room, she expected to find Bellamy waiting for her but instead, it was a very distressed looking Wells.

When she walked into the room, his eyes softened immediately and he surprised her by rushing up to her and wrapping his arms around her shoulder, pulling her into his chest.

Gabriella blinked, taken aback, but reluctantly wrapped her hands around his waist and rested her face between his neck and shoulder, squeezing her eyes shut when she realized this was one of the last few people she was going to see before she died.

"I fucked up." she choked out, a few tears rolling down her cheek as she clung to Wells' shirt.

Wells sighed and smoothed Gabriella's overly messy hair, "We're gonna fix this. I'm gonna get you out of here. You just have to trust me. Which means you can't try to make a run for it on your own."

"You have a plan?" Gabriella asked in confusion, still not pulling away.

Huffing out a chuckle, Wells nodded, "You could say that."

Gabriella pulled away and hesitantly looked up at him, not being able to hold herself back from asking, "Where's Bellamy?"

Wells gave her a knowing look and explained, "He's meeting up with Octavia. Although I'm pretty sure she still thinks he's on Pike's side which will definitely cause some trouble." he paused and then looked at the floor with a guilty look on his face, "I'm sorry I didn't help you guys out. I was so wrapped up with Raven taking the chip that I never ── "

"Raven took the chip to the City of Light?" Gabriella cut him off, her voice laced in shock and Wells' eyes widened in realization.

"Shit, I was supposed to tell you that." he huffed, running the palm of his hand across his face and putting one of his hands on his hip, "I'll explain everything later just hang in there, okay?"

Gabriella hesitated but nodded nonetheless. After everything they have been through, she trusted him.

-

"Chancellor on deck. It's time."

James' voice rang through the cell just five minutes after Gabriella went back inside. She didn't like to doubt her friends but right now, she was definitely doubting how their so-called plan was going to work out.

"You must not resist." Lincoln told his people when they started panicking, calming a part of them down but the other part was still wary.

"I can't protect them without you." one of his friends panicked.

"Listen to me. You're a warrior. Stay strong." he told her in comfort and a moment later, Pike entered the cell with his guards behind him and Gabriella was only slightly relieved Bellamy wasn't with them.

It meant the plan was working, right?

"Back up. Back up." Pike ordered, "Against the wall now. Come on. Let's go."

Reluctantly, Gabriella followed Kane and her friends and stood against the wall, allowing James to handcuff her. There was nothing she wanted more right now than to punch that annoying smug smirk straight off his face.

Her jaw clenched when he pulled her away from the wall and grabbed her by her forearms and along with everyone else out of the cell.

The way she was being pulled down the hallway made her blood boil but her anger faded away as soon as she saw Philip walk next to them in the hallway with his arm thrown over Harper's shoulder.

What the fuck? She thought with furrowed eyebrows.

Pike, on the other hand, wasn't bothered, "Make way."

"Yes, sir." Harper and Philip said simultaneously and kept walking down the hallway.

"Sir, you were right. Octavia Blake is here and she's not alone." Hannah Green's voice made Gabriella's head snap up. She was going to murder someone is Octavia ends up dying because of something she did.

Pike stiffened and turned to them with his rifle raised high, "On your knees."

All four of them did as they were told as Pike turned his back on them and spoke into his walkie, "Can you confirm a location?"

"Negative, Sir."

𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥. Gabriella thought in satisfaction, a little disappointed she didn't see the angry look on Pike's face at the information.

"Sir, we can assume her friends have already told her where we're taking them." Bryan spoke up, "We shouldn't go any further till we know the route's secure."

The Chancellor gave the four prisoners a glance and paused for a moment before pointing towards a room and ordering, "Put them in there. Let's go move."

Once again, they were pulled to their feet and dragged inside the empty room, filled with bunk beds. Gabriella could hear Pike giving out more orders as all the guards left the room and closed the doors behind them.

-

Gabriella was pleasantly surprised when the doors of the room opened a few minutes later by Wells and Octavia. She stepped out of the room, smiling slightly at the sight of the guards knocked out. She looked towards the two, her gaze settling on Wells as she finally smiled.

"I never doubted you once."

Wells raised a humorous eyebrow, "Sure you didn't."

"What now?" Sinclair asked, looking between Octavia and Wells curiously.

Octavia brushed past them and back into the room, revealing an opening in the floor and moving away from it. She looked at them expectantly, "What are you waiting for? Get in."

-

It didn't take long before Pike and a few of his guards came in and Gabriella had the satisfaction of listening to Pike throwing a small temper tantrum.

Once they were gone, Octavia got her head through the opening and called over her shoulder, "All clear. Come on. Let's go."

"It's a little bit tight in there." Kane complained, being the first to go out, Gabriella following after him.

Octavia scowled at his words and untied his handcuffs, "Try doing it for sixteen years."

Gabriella allowed the brunette to get the handcuffs off of her and then pulled her into a short hug, whispering in her ear, "Thanks, Little Blake."

When they pulled away, the younger girl looked a little apologetic, probably because of the way she attacked her and Bellamy before she knew they were just spies. But Gabriella didn't hold it against her. In fact, she would probably be the exact same.

So instead of saying anything, Gabriella offered her a small smile and squeezed her shoulder before moving away from her and allowing her to move onto her boyfriend.

She resisted the urge to ask about Bellamy though, partly because she was scared of what her answer would be. She wasn't sure she could successfully get out if she knew Bellamy was dead.

Abby and Miller got into the room a moment later and Gabriella was surprised when the former walked straight up to her instead of her father. She touched the back of her head, the same spot she hit while searching for Clarke she got a concussion.

"Are you alright, sweetheart?" Gabriella was more than surprised at the gentle tone Abby was using and couldn't find the right words to say to her, so she simply nodded.

The Griffin woman looked at her suspiciously but nodded and moved over to Kane, crunching down next to him and putting a gentle hand on the side of his hand.

Gabriella tried her hardest not to gag at the sight.

"Come in." Harper spoke into the radio that was strapped to Octavia's jacket.

Lincoln instantly perked up when his girlfriend looked concerned, "What is it?"

"This wasn't the plan." Octavia announced, "We use their frequency so they can hear us." she lifted the walkie to her lips and spoke, "Go ahead."

"Stay where you are." came back Harper's response. "Repeat, stay where you are. The exit is not clear."

"How many guards?" Octavia asked.

"Too many. I said, stay put."

Gabriella shared a worried look with Wells but her eyes snapped back to the walkie at the sound of Monty's voice, "Calling all guards. The prisoners are headed for the 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯 gate. The prisoners are headed for the main gate. Over."

"What the hell?" Gabriella muttered to herself, worry bubbling in her chest at the urgency in Monty's voice.

"That was Monty." Octavia breathed out in realization and Gabriella scoffed to herself.

"Yeah, no shit."

"Guess he's with us after all." Miller noted and Kane nodded in agreement.

"Pike will find out."

Abby glared at her co-worked slash lover slash boyfriend ( honestly Gabriella cringed just by thinking about what they were ), "We don't know that. What we do know is, we have to move."

"Yeah." Gabriella nodded, grabbing one of the rifles and gripping it tightly in her hand, "Let's go."

-

Harper and Philip were waiting for them in a corridor that was hidden from sight and had an opening in the wall that was supposed to lead them out of Arkadia and into the woods.

Kane rushed them all inside but Gabriella stayed put, not wanting to go in before everyone was safe.

"Attention, all citizens. Emergency lock down is in effect. Return to your quarters immediately."

Gabriella couldn't help but scoff at the announcement and she and Philip shared a knowing look, "Welcome back to Mount Weather everyone."

Kane huffed in agreement and rushed Philip and Miller into the opening before turning to Abby, "Okay, Abby. Come on, you're next."

"I'm not going." she told him, "They need someone to show them the way out of the dark. Besides I ── "

He cut her off by pressing his lips against her own and this time, Gabriella openly groaned in disgust. Octavia raised her eyebrows in amusement and faintly smirked, resulting in Gabriella elbowing her in the stomach.

"I'm officially scared for life." the blonde muttered under her breath, making the girl next to her snort.

Once the "couple" pulled away, Abby walked off and Lincoln rushed back towards them when he was sure she was out of sight.

"I have a message for the traitors in this camp." Pike spoke through the radio. "There will be an execution today. Either turn yourselves in or the other grounder prisoners will die in your place."

Lincoln's movements game to a stop at his words and Gabriella could clearly see the thoughts running through his head. His girlfriend on the other hand, was unfazed and grabbed his wrist, "Let's go."

He brushed her off and started walking away, only to have her grab his forearm, "No. Wait."

"I can't let them die because of me." Lincoln told her sadly.

Octavia shook her head, "Lincoln, please. We're almost out."

"I know what you're feeling, but they're searching the station." Kane told him, "We need to go now."

Lincoln clearly wasn't budging, "You should."

"Fine." Octavia nodded after a moment of tense silence, "I'm going with you. We fight together."

Her boyfriend softened at her words and moved to cup her jaw gently, "I love you."

He leaned down to capture her lips into a soft kiss. While Gabriella was a little disgusted by her step-father's PDA with his new girlfriend, right now, her heart was breaking for her friend because she knew this was Lincoln's way of saying goodbye to her.

She was only proven right, when Lincoln pulled out a needle and injected it into Octavia's neck, making her fall unconscious in his arms.

"What are you doing?" Kane hissed as he took Octavia into his arms.

"Same thing you'd do for your people."

Gabriella shook her head at his words, "Lincoln this isn't right. You aren't supposed to die because of something like this."

"I'm dying for my people." he chuckled breathly, "I can't think of a better way to die." his gaze moved to the sleeping Blake and a tear fell down his cheek painfully slowly, "Just get her out of here."

Walking away from Lincoln then, was one of the worst decisions Gabriella ever had to make. It was probably going to haunt her for the rest of her life. Hell, it might even make Octavia hate her. But she was doing it for the same reason he was giving himself up.

For her people.

Or what was left of them anyway.
