Found Family
The day had started like any other, Roxy went to the Gym and had breakfast. Then she was called to the Temple to meet with a few of the Generals and Rex about a very important mission.
She walked into the room, removed her helmet and stood beside Rex. Mace Windu began the meeting, "Thank you for coming so early. Let's get right into it because we don't have much time. A threat was made against the Duchess of Mandalore." He began.
"So Obi-wan will be taking just one other person, so as to not raise suspicion."
Anakin stepped forward, "He can't take any of the men, I don't think the Duchess would like that very much. So I volunteer to go." he said, Obi-wan put a hand up. "Two Jedi for a one Jedi mission is unnecessary...I'll take Roxy." he replied. Anakin slumped.
Roxy was surprised for a moment, she smiled, "A mission with General Kenobi? Sounds like a party to me."
She was informed that they were going to a literal party, and that she needed to pack an extra set of clothes, no armor or noticeable weapons were allowed, much to her dismay. After they were packed, Roxy did a once over of the ship.
Rex came to say goodbye, "Have fun, kid. But don't get into trouble please." he joked, Roxy chuckled, "I'll be with Kenobi, how much trouble could we get into?"
She hugged Rex, "I'll be back in a week or so, now you guys don't get into trouble, we all know you're the trouble-maker...not me." they laughed. Obi-wan cleared his throat, with a smile he asked, "Ready?".
She nodded, with one last wave to her brother, they were off.
They sat in the cock-pit together, Obi-wan piloting. "So is this the same Duchess that Anakin said you have a history with?" she asked, "A history? Well, I don't know what he was implying, but she is an old friend. I met her long ago on a mission with my Master." he explained, Roxy nodded, "Yeah the way Skywalker talked about it, he made it seem like she was your girlfriend.."
Obi-wan rolled his eyes and scoffed, "I know, attatchment is forbidden. It's a joke." she quickly said with her hands raised in defense. "Right." he grunted.
After a few hours they both dozed off, the ship on auto pilot, woke them with the alert. Only a few more hours and they would arrive. "The Duchess and her guards will greet us when we arrive, then we'll let her know of the plan." Obi-wan explained, "What time does the party start?" "Not until the evening." she nodded.
After a pause she asked, "Am I allowed to drink? Or do I have to behave myself?"
Obi-wan laughed, a real genuine laugh. "You can have a couple drinks!" he shook his head in amusement. Roxy smirked, she never got to see the General like this.
They finally landed, and like Obi-wan had said, the Duchess was there to greet them.
"Obi-wan, how nice it is to see you again.." "Likewise." he replied as he kissed the back of her hand. Roxy stood in attention beside the General. "And who is this?" asked Satine.
"This is Sergeant Roxy, she's here as my backup and second set of eyes. This threat made against you was no joke, so I brought one of the 501st's finest." explained Obi-wan. Roxy nodded at the Duchess in respect, she mirrored the action. "Well, the party is at 8, you can come to my room a few minutes before to walk me to the festivities." said the Duchess.
Roxy and Obi-wan were shown to their room, it was as big as the Gym in the barracks with two queen sized beds, "Holy shit! I can only imagine that the Duchess's room is twice this size!" She exclaimed, Obi-wan chuckled, "Yes, well, we best get ready, we have to meet the Duchess in an hour." he said, they went to their separate bathrooms and dressed.
Obi-wan sported a nice suit in a dark grey color. Roxy wore almost the same, lose black pants, a dark blue button up, her chest holsters, and a jacket to conceal them. She exited the bathroom first and laid on her bed, one knee up and waiting for Kenobi.
He closed the door to his bathroom and Roxy whistled, "General Kenobi, who are you trying to impress?" She teased, he shook his head, "We just need to fit in, it's an old suit anyways." said Obi-wan, Roxy laughed, "Or maybe you wanna look all dolled up for the Duchess?"
Obi-wan huffed, then he squinted, "Your hair is a mess. Here let me..." he trailed off, and fixed a stray hair on top of her head. "There, now you don't look like you crawled out of a hole." he joked, Roxy barked out a laugh, "Really now? You look like you haven't slept in three days!"
"You should talk." He pointed back, they laughed and teased each other to the Duchess's room that was on the fourth floor. They escorted her to party.
Roxy's jaw almost hit the floor, it was all so fancy, chandeliers, tables clad in gold trimmed cloths, booze that must cost hundreds of credits per bottle. The Duchess went off to mingle with some senators. Roxy grabbed herself and Kenobi a drink. "Here you go General."
"Shh, just call me Obi-wan while we're here. That way no one will know you're a solider, or that we're here for a mission." he whispered, Roxy nodded, "Alright...Obi-wan." she said, that felt wrong, she thought.
The party went on with no problems, they drank, laughed, and watched people dance. Obi-wan watched as Satine danced with a senator, and soon it came to an end and she was waiting for another partner. Roxy shoved Obi-wan a bit, "Go dance with her, she's looked at you like ten times, man!" she said, "I don't know, my dancing skills are a bit rusty..." he mulled. Roxy gave him a push, and he went over to the Duchess.
Roxy gave him a thumbs up, and watched as they danced. She smiled, he honestly looked so happy, and that made her happy. The dance was about to end and she heard her gauntlet beep, the screen showed an unidentified object approaching the building. She made her way to the balcony, without raising suspicion.
She saw a missile rocketing its way toward the palace. She pulled out her blasters and took careful aim. She fired twice, and the rocket exploded a good half mile away, not hitting anything important. Obi-wan rushed out to her, "What was that!?"
"Someone launched a missile, I took care of it but we better get the Duchess back to her room." She ordered, Obi-wan nodded and they rushes inside. The Duchess was nowhere to be seen.
"Shit!" Roxy swore, she threw her jacket off and they began running down the halls. Finally they heard a shriek, Roxy could pin-point where she was, and they split up. Obi-wan got there first, a senator had a gun to her head. Roxy snuck up behind, but the senator had some bodyguards.
"Alright, you wanna fight? Let's fuckin' do it." she challenged them, she took them on while Obi-wan tried to negotiate with the man who held the Duchess hostage. The guards were much bigger than Roxy, but she was faster than them.
She took a few punches, but managed to knock out the guards and then pistol whipped the senator, forcing him to the ground and he released Satine. She rushed to Obi-wan while Roxy kicked the man in the ribs, but he wasn't unconscious. He grabbed his gun and shot at Obi-wan, it only grazed his arm.
Roxy shot him. "No one fucking tries to shoot a Jedi in my presence." she growled. They tied up the guards and had them sent off. The Duchess was safe once again, they took her to her room where she would be protected by her personal guards. She thanked Obi-wan with a kiss to the cheek.
They went back to their room soon after.
"Well that was exciting." She laughed and winced as she felt the cut on her head. "Here let me fix that up for you, don't need it getting infected." he said.
He dabbed it with a cloth and put bacta on it with a bandage. Then Roxy forced him to let her bandage his arm. They laid in their beds and talked for a while.
"I know you probably would have preferred to stay with your brothers, but this was actually a fun mission, aside from the Duchess getting kidnapped and the missile..." he said, Roxy smiled. "I had fun too, and while I do love being with my brothers all the time, missions with you are always nice for me because well...nevermind." she mumbled.
"No, what's on your mind?"
"Well...before Rex found me, I didn't have a family. But the guys filled that void. And Ahsoka and Padme are like the sisters I've always wanted, and Anakin is like a weird uncle...but you..." She stopped and took a breath. "I've always seen you as a father figure, you're gentle and kind, but ready to kick ass and you're so wise and all. I dunno, it's probably stupid but, it's the truth." she said.
Obi-wan smiled. "I know attatchments are forbidden...but I've thought if I weren't a Jedi, I would want a daughter just like you." He said, turning to look at the girl. They smiled.
When they returned home and Rex asked how it went, Roxy just smiled and said, "It was the best mission ever."
She hugged Obi-wan before he left for the temple. He was surprised, everyone was. But he hugged her back anyways. She coughed and saluted him. "Go relax, you did good. I'm proud of you."
"Thanks...dad." She joked, he smiled.
They were always closer after that.
