KYLO REN
Flash Back: StarKiller Base.
The
numbness of the below-freezing temperatures barely fazes him. Although his burning anger mixed with anxiety and anguish melts to his core.
Kylo sees fresh snow begin to fall. The trees around dark crumpled form scarred with white all the way down to the roots. Like bony skeletal arms reaching down, grabbing handfuls of frozen soil. Distant sirens flooded the black starry night sky as they blared across this side of the planet.
He doesn't have a fear of dying, he has a fear of failing.
The black hair that plastered to his blood struck face trumped his vision as he tried to stagger to his feet. His matching charcoal-hued tunic and belt straining with the sudden movements, leather emitting small squeaks as Ren twisted his torso to look at his side.
Red blood stained the pure snow. 'My blood'.
The ground trembled beneath him and the cavern, that separated himself and the Jakku girl who ran, now lay just past the soles of his boots threatening to swallow him whole. Quickly gaining his thoughts, wincing and grinding his teeth front the pain, Ren moves his arm from his side to the belt that was strapped to his waist.
Shoving a gloved thumb beneath the thick band into a small compartment he activated the hidden transmitter, sending his current position to General Hux.
His eyes widen on his cold pale face at a thought, 'my lightsaber'.
Somewhat frantically, Kylo swung his arms in the air to gain balance in a sitting position to look for a familiar cross-guard hilt.
His eyes finding it before his mind can comprehend the damage, it lay in small bits of debris to the right of him. The cracked, red artificial Kyber crystal embedded in the muddy snow, radiating a flicker of warm red before soon dying out.
His chest falls for a moment, then suddenly, white light beams from above and basks his, crippled form in its glow.
'The planet will blow any minute,' as if in response, snow started to sift through the long scraggly branches of the trees from the violent shaking of the ground.
Painfully he positioned one knee on the ground and one foot planted firm, a runners pose, preparing for whats to come. The loud fanning sounds of hydraulics and the engine of the Upsilon shuttle fill the air as it picks up the wind that blows Ren's hair into a frenzy.
Clenching his teeth as he suppresses the wound on his side where he was shot by that roaring monster that his father somehow used to call, 'brother'.
'Who am I to bid someone else the horrid title of monster'?
Kylo Ren's thoughts betray him, the light always finds a way in through the cracks of darkness that envelopes his stubborn mind.
Slowly, he tilted his head up to see Hux open the launch bay, his usually gelled back, red hair now flapping in the ferocious tornado of winds. In a small rush of the Force, Snoke's apprentice throws himself towards the highest tree limbs and the Upsilon's ramp.
The sensation of weightlessness possessed him for mere seconds before landing hard on the metal but not before losing balance and purchase, almost falling back into the cracking void. Hux's face contorted into one that could only be described as pure fear before launching his fist into Ren's outer garments and tugging him towards himself.
Begning to see the black and vibrant blue splotches that bled across his vision. The tortured mind falling into a lapse of fuzzy and muffled sounds before the darkness came.
