Dinah's POV

Once we get in her room she puts the ice pack, I didn't know she still had, on her desk and sits down there. I stay standing, too nervous to do anything else. I start to look around her room and try to remind myself that this is Normani, my best friend in the whole world, there is nothing I could do that would make her leave. I take a deep breath and figure out where to begin.

"Okay so you know how you called me this morning?"

"Yeah?"

"And you remember shower buddy?"

"Yeah.....?"

"Well shower buddy was Jasmine."

"WHAT!? YOU SLEPT WITH JASMINE VILLEGAS NOT JUST ONCE BUT TWICE?!"

"Yeah."

"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU!! I MEAN SHE'S HOT BUT WHY HER OUT OF ALL PEOPLE!?"

"I wasn't done."

"OH GOD what else is there?

"She kinda sorta asked me to be her girlfriend."

".......And what did you say?"

"And I said I would give for a chance."

Why would you say that to her?"

"Um because, I wasn't gonna lie to her really I'm actually thinking about it."

"Why tho? I mean Jasmine is a cool person but she is hook up material at best not girlfriend material."

"How would you even know Mani when was the last time you had a girlfriend?"

"I had one before you did!"

"A Friends With Benefits doesn't count."

"What about-"

"Random dates that you never call again don't count either."

"Well what about you?"

"What about me?"

"You haven't dated anyone either not since we ended."

"Yeah I know that seems to be coming up a lot today."

"What does that mean?"

"My mom brought up the fact that you and I were the last relationship I had."

"What does that have to do with anything? Unless she's trying to say to say the reason you haven't dated is that you've been in love with me since freshman year."

Mani chuckles after she says that but I don't. What if that really is why I haven't dated anyone seriously in the last two years?

"Dinah you aren't actually considering that idea are you?"

"I mean I don't know it could be possible."

"Wow Jasmine has really fucked up your head if you think you're in love with me. Dinah there is no way you're in love with me don't be stupid we're best friends."

"Best friends fall in love with each other all the time."

"I can PROVE that you aren't in love with me."

"Oh really, how?"

"You trust me?"

"That's a stupid question of course I do!"

"Then don't worry about it just trust me."

"Okay"

I humor her and wait patiently for her to do something. She walks over to the bed and sits next to me, and then that's it.

"Uh Mani are you gonna do something?"

"Be patient DJ."

"How do expect me to be patient when I don't know what you're going to do? You got me hella anxious right now Manz."

She doesn't say anything after that, she just smiles at me and we just sit in silence for another five minutes or so. After another minute or so she takes off my snapback and places it on her bed, then she starts to play with my hair. I don't know why she is making so nervous but she is starting to freak me out. She starts to run her fingers through my hair and it feels really good, I would be enjoying this more if I wasn't so damn nervous. I focus on the feeling of her nails in my scalp that I don't notice Mani has moved closer to me. She's practically sitting on my lap at this point, but I'm not really paying attention to anything but her hand in my hair. I feel the bed move and now Mani is kissing my neck. I don't know what she's doing so I don't move and wait until she's finished. She starts to move up my neck and towards my jawline and my brain finally catches up with my body. As a gay girl with hormones I am starting to get turned on by this, but I do realize what Mani is trying to do right now. She wanted to prove I don't have feelings for her by kissing me. There are only two ways this could go. I end up taking this to the next level when she gets to my lips, or I stop her before it gets that far. My good side and my bad side battle for a bit in my head before my conscience wins out.

"Mani stop."

"Well did that work?"

"Yeah it worked I'm not in love with you, but now I am turned on."

"When are you not turned on D-Mac?"

"Hey, you aren't allowed to called me that anymore."

"Why? I was the to start calling you that name in the first place."

"Well if you want me to cool off anytime soon I suggest you not."

"Whatever DJ. Now back to this Jasmine mess. Did she really say she wants to be with you?"

"Yeah. She told me she didn't want us to be a one time thing, and that she's wanted to be with me for a while."

"Was this before or after sex?"

"After. I was walking her to the door to say goodbye when she said it."

"Was there anyone else around when she said it?"

"My mom was in the kitchen. I don't know if she heard her or not."

"Okay so she could be telling the truth, but do you really want to be with Jasmine?"

"I don't know it has been a while since I was with someone and I did have that crush on Jasmine for a while."

"D, just because you haven't had a relationship in a while doesn't mean you jump into one with the next person who offers."

"That's easy for you to say Mani. Out of the two of us you're always getting the most offers."

"But out of the two of us who always has girls all over them?"

"Yeah but that's for the one night special. No one ever wants me for me. All they want from me is sex."

"Did you ever think that the reason you only pull in one night stands is because you only attract one night stands?"

"So what you're saying is that I attract what I put out there?"

"Exactly! Maybe you should give D-Mac a rest and let girls meet the real you instead?"

"What if they don't like the real me?"

"Then it's their loss. You're a catch Dinah Jane."

I take in what Normani is saying and really think about it. It's always so weird that Mani always knows me so well that she knew exactly what was going on with me without even trying.

"Can we make a deal?"

"What kind of deal do you have in mind?"

"Lets make a deal to both get girlfriends this year, no matter who they are.

"Alright I like that deal but that means no sex until you get in a relationship."

"Ugh.......alright fine. Deal."

"Wanna make it official once school starts?

"Sure. Shake on it?"

"You know it."

We do our overly complicated handshake to seal our deal. I'm not going into all that goes into but there's twerking, the nae nae, and Mani hitting a split at the end. Once we're done we sit down on her bed and just shoot the shit for a few before I remember that Mani had something she wanted to talk about.

"So, what did you call me over for?"

"Oh yeah, I almost for got about that. I wanted to ask you what you wanted to do for auditions this year."

"Wanted to do?"

"Yeah like do you want to create a new routine or have them do an old one?"

"Well how about they freestyle to audition and do some of our routines for callbacks?"

"Hmm....okay that could work. We should call the girls over to talk about team stuff."

"Okay. Want me to call Ally and Camila too?"

"Yep everybody."

"Okay. I'm going downstairs to see if my tea is done."

"And you're hungry."

"......That too."

"Wait for me I'll go too."

I grab my snapback and walk over to Mani's mirror to fix my hair then put it back on my head and fix the rest of my clothes after rolling around on the bed from laughing so much at Mani being stupid. I give myself one more look in the mirror, once I'm satisfied, I grab Normani's hand and walk out of the door and go downstairs.

She just wants to be loved and to share her love with someone even if it is the wrong person.
