Chapter One: What Happened?
Rail stopped banging my head against the tree. A few seconds went by before he flipped me over on my back and ripped my shirt off. He looked down at my chest. The light that was there was gone. With shocked eyes I looked at Rail's disturbingly familiar face.
That means..
I covered my eyes with my hands. I let out a sob..This was my fault. Again. But this time, I wasn't going to make it out alive to fix it; This time Rail would make sure I died for good. I could see it in his eyes. He wanted to die. And if he did that means I would too.
Instead of being scared of the idea I embraced it. I didn't want to be here without her.
I looked up as Rail gripped the side of my head. I saw was Athena standing in the snow, the wind blew her red hair across her face that was covered in blood.
Sarah's blood.
Go figure, her rat nest of hair would be the last thing I saw before my death.

Looking at Athena, sticky with Aderes blood, It was clear that I had nothing to lose. Laying in the snow was Jay, sobbing like a pathetic child. Tears covered his face which made his eyes puffy and blood shot. Swift like the wind that whipped around me, I grabbed Jays chin and gripped the side of his head and twisted.
Snap.
Jays body fell in a pile of snow. I couldn't help myself; I let myself sneer at the sight of him. Behind me footsteps slowly walked towards me.
"Rail?"
I turned my head to the side not bothering turning around. "I suggest you leave here, immediately." Athena, the goddess of war, Aderes best friend who grew to hate me, only continued to walk forward until she was right beside me staring down at Jay.
"What do you want me to do with him?"
"He's my problem now."
"What about when he wakes up?" She stepped in front of me commanding my attention. "He isn't going to stay dead you know. I'd like to be there when he wakes up."
"Why is that? You hated him." I muttered. Athena shot me a look that I understood at once. "Oh..You'd like to be the one to kill him again..and again." I laughed a soulless laugh. "As if I'd give you that satisfaction."
"Why not!? He has been the vain of my existence, beside you! I have done what you have asked of me. Now I think I deserve the satisfaction of finishing what I started, on my terms."
I grabbed Jays arms and flung him over my shoulder. His weight might have been too much for the normal human, but I was no human. I was a God, and as of the last few centuries, I was the ruler of the Heavens. I wasn't about to be pushed around by a insignificant servant.
"I ordered you to protect her. Not let her be killed."
Athena's eyes held something that we had in common for once. Grief. I looked away, trying to avoid the pain.
"She'll come-"
"If you fucking say she'll come back again I'll find a way to banish you to the deepest parts of hell and not give one shit." Athena turned around making her fire red hair hit my face. She threw her glowing gold hands in the air.
"Why the hell not? She's done it a million times. What's so different this time around?" Her eyes showed she already knew the answer to that .
"Aderes," I chocked her name out, "she started to remember. The stone reactivated when Jay found the other half.." I tugged on his body to keep him from sliding off. "I'd really love to know how the hell he found the other half." I growled. "You know as well as I do that this time it wasn't just another copy of her...This time she came back as Aderes. The Protector. Not just some lost girl named, Sarah."
Athena stopped pacing and stared at me. I stared up above her head to avoid her sharp eyes. I tried to mask all emotion that I knew was starting to show at the thought of Aderes being dead. "You really did care about her." Dammit, I guess I wasn't doing a great job of keeping my feelings to myself. "Is that guilt I see?" Athena stepped forward. I took a step back. I was done playing this game.
"Here." I dumped Jay into her arms. "You can have him." Stunned she looked at me with her golden eyes that was clouded with enjoyment?
"Thank you, Rail. I'll make him suffer I promise you." A evil grin creeped along her face. She turned a shade of red and started to hover above the ground. I grabbed her arm.
"Wait," I walked closely to Jay's body. I tore into his chest with my bear hands. Instead of white light streaming out, like it would if it was activated, just blood and tissue pored out onto Athena arms. My hand rummaged through his chest until my hand found the cold Cross Stone. Blood dripped all over us, still, neither of us cared. There was a small part of me that enjoyed it.
Athena locked eyes with me. I nodded for her to go.
With that her red light flashed and in a blink of an eye she was gone. Where, I didn't know, and I didn't care. I fell to my knees. It wasn't the cold air around me that made me shiver. It was from the shock that Aderes was gone. For good this time. Time and time again she had cheated death with the help of this stone. It was with great irony that she would be finally put to death by the same thing that had been keeping her alive. And by the one who loved her the most.
Me.
