I woke up in a dim lilted room with stone walls. You could easily see the putrid mold growing in between the floor and the walls. Drops of water dripped from the ceiling and go figure when I looked up a drop of muddy water hit my forehead. Great.

I stand up and rub my neck. I cant remember how I got here. All I remembered was..

Sarah.

When the memory of hearing the screams and the silent wind that came with it, my knees started to shake. Sarah was dead. I killed her. The stone had torn out of her chest and it killed her before I could get far enough away. My hand laid over where the Cross Stone was. It felt empty. I looked down and saw blood around a healing hole in my chest.

What the hell?

"Welcome back."

I whipped around me to find the red headed bitch from my own personal hell, Athena. Sarah's best friend who just so happened to be the Greek goddess of war. It was never possible for me to kill her being a servant and all. Still, I liked to imagine all the ways I could kill her.

"Why are you looking at me that way?" she said.

"Sarah's dead."

"Her fucking name was Aderes!" She snapped. No one ever seemed to like when i called her by her previous human name. Athena sighed.

"But yes, I know she's gone." Athena walked over to me. "I was the one who watched her die." Sorrow filled her golden eyes.

"I wish I had died"

Athena smacked the side of my head.

"You know I saved your life right?" She growled. "Rail was going to kill you for good. If I hadn't have begged to keep you alive to kill you over and over again, you'd be dead right now."

What?

Another drop of muddy water fell on my face. I started to pace. Sarah's screams lingered in my ears. Her cries ragged and forced out of her.

"Then why aren't you killing me," I started to mock her high pitch voice, "over and over again?"

Athena laid her hand on my shoulder. "Doesn't revenge sound more fun, though?" She said.

I raised my brow.

"Look I've been snooping around and I found out some answers." She paused. "And I need your help."

Athena grabbed my hand before I could slap it away and we flashed outside on a dark hill.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"We're on Oscar's Golf Course." She raised her hands out as if this was a glorious surprise. "This is where I got some juicy details on Aderes attack."

"You mean Sarah."

Athena hissed at me, clearly pissed that I refused to call my love the current name she was given. She hadn't been Aderes in a very long time.

I looked around. It was pitch black, the moon hiding behind the clouds. All in front of me was neatly cut grass and little streams throughout the filed. Athena's golden orbs caught my attention. Her light lit up a path that I didn't notice before. We walked around the outer edge of the golf course and made our way into the woods.

"What answers did you-"

"Shhh!"

I mumbled profanities under my breath. Athena stopped abruptly and I tripped over her almost facplanting into a large bush of throns. She grabbed me by my t-shirt. I slowly gained my balance and stood up. Athena shot me a look that said, " You're suck an idiot" as I dusted myself off.

"We're here." She pushed passed me.

There was a small fire in the middle of a camp site. "You've been staying here?"

"Well, I didn't want to stay with you in that moldy basement." She gestured for me to sit. In the dirt of course. Athena sat down on a log a few feet away from me. Her red hair looked brighter than the fire. Her neck even had a strange red tint to it...

I looked away once I realized the patch of blood on her neck wasn't her own.

"I found out why Lucifer attacked Aderes." My jaw snapped shut at the reminder. I shutter as I see flashes of a battered body that was Sarah after what those mother fuc-

"Continue." I said through my teeth.

Athena scooted close to me. Her eyes burrowed into mine. "Lucifer wanted to take over The True One and all of The Heavens. But he knew Aderes had the Cross Stone, right?" I nodded. She lowered her voice,"He had to get the Cross Stone to destroy Aderes. Then he'd be able to attack The True One."

It didnt make sense.

"Then why did he attacked her if he knew she had the Cross Stone and could destory him?"

She frowned.

"He's Lucifer. He had nothing to lose." She stared up at the cloudy sky.

"Anyways, I haven't found out how he was able to do it. I think it might have been a spell or he found something that would keep him strong long enough to get close to her and drain her of her powers. It didn't help that he brought those scum crawling demons with him." Athena growled.

"She wouldn't tell him where it was because she was trying to protect Rail." I whispered coldly.

"What, why?"

"Because If the True One found out that Rail had given Aderes the Cross Stone he'd be banished. Which would mean she'd have to did it and she refused to kill him blah blah blah.."

I looked away from Athenas curious eyes. I folded my hands together hoping to control my anger.

"It kills me to know how much she cared for him.. To go through everything that happened. Even when they-" I stopped myself. I didn't want to think about what those fuckers did to Sarah.

"You don't really think that's the only reason she didn't say anything, do you?"

My mind was blank.

"You are such an idiot." She said. "Aderes was the Protector. She was created to watch over us all. There was no way she would given them the chance to destory us."

My heart dropped at the realization. No wonder she was so mad at me. I was the one that put everyone in danger.

Athena looked at me reading my mind.

"This revenge shit is starting to sound good to me."

Athena gave me a devilish smile.

"Good because we got work to do."
