Truth
Shiki gently laid Izaya down on the bed before softly kissing his forehead. "Rest Izaya, everything's gonna be fine," he gently whispered. Staying for a second he glanced at Izaya's calm face before slowly closing the door and stepping outside, breathing out he leaned his forehead against the door.
"So how it went?" Akabayashi asked. Shiki just shook his head, "He broke down into sobs, doesn't seem he understands his own feelings, yet before he went to sleep he..." "He confessed his love for Shizuo, I heard." Shiki nodded stepping away from the door and walking to the couch he was just sitting on. "What you gonna do?" Akabayashi asked again sitting with him Shiki put his head on his hands. "I don't know, I love Izaya as a son, I don't like to see him like this, but what can you say to a person that just lost a loved one?"
Akabayashi patted Shiki's back, "Maybe you should take him to the cemetery, the faster he accepts Shizuo's dead, the faster we can help him heal. Take him on a trip, maybe?" Shiki shook his head. "I can't I have meetings all next week, but I'll take him to the cemetery tomorrow, today is friday, first meeting is on Sunday night, would you stay with Izaya?" Akabayashi sadly shook his head, "Sorry I also have somewhere to go. Any idea how Shizuo died." "The bullet they shot him with was a new experiment Tafki was working with."
Akabayashi and Shiki quickly stood up. "Izaya, what're you doing out here?" Shiki gently carried Izaya to the couch, Izaya only holding tightly to his shirt. "I couldn't sleep." Finally sitting down Shiki and Akabayashi looked at Izaya, "Tafki?" Izaya nodded, "An organization I was helping until recently, they're from the countryside, I don't know what they were doing out here thought, but too put it simply they had been looking for a poison that could kill any person or animal instantly without leaving any signs, they asked me if I knew of any that could be effective, I gave them some information I found on poisons. They recently send me the poison and I made Namie come up with an antidote, I was bringing both to Shinra to check out when I saw Shizuo get attacked...I just never thought they would use it on Shi...Shizu-chan." Izaya's voice broke at the end, his eyes glistening when the light hit his tears.
"Shiki, Shizuo died yet I don't feel happy and my chest hurts when I think about it, am I i...in lo...ve?" Shiki could only smile, Izaya seemed so lost, so hurt, as if the gentlest touch could break him. "Izaya, you are." Izaya could only stare at his hands. This couldn't be, he hated Shizuo, he hated him! Yet why did it hurt so much. Why did it hurt to think about him?
"I'm sorry about yesterday, I know it was inappropriate from my part to come here," Izaya finally managed, putting all thoughts away. Shiki noticed Izaya's change in attitude and decided to go along with it for now. "It's fine, I don't mind, just know that I am always here for you, okay Izaya?" Shiki gently hugged Izaya to his chest rubbing comforting circled on his back. "Thank you," Izaya whispered letting his eyes close. Akabayashi looked in silence signaling Shiki that he was going for some blankets. Shiki nodded before getting comfortable on the couch, he was afraid that if he moved Izaya or himself Izaya would wake up again. Akabayashi soon came back with some blankets and put them in Izaya and Shiki, gently kissing the top of each sleeping male before going to his room.
In the morning Shiki woke up to feel a light weight on his chest, confused he looked down only to come face to face with Izaya's sleeping face. He smiled fondly before kissing the raven's forehead. Instantly frowning he touched his lips to Izaya's forehead again, the raven's forehead was hot and lightly sweating. "Izaya?" he whispered. Izaya didn't stirred but his breath came in short gasps. Shiki's frowned deepened before gently getting up and enveloping Izaya with a light blanket. Taking him to his room he laid him down before getting Akabayashi to help him.
Izaya had a high fever. Finally alone Izaya quickly, but quietly, got up silently making his way towards the window. Cautiously stepping outside he looked for the best way to get down to the floor. With a deep breath he slitter his way down the wall stepping on some window sills and lightly jumping to the floor. With a light chuckle he started to make his way towards Ikebukuro's cemetery. Shizuo was not death and of that he was sure.
Izaya started to get desperate and broke into a print ignoring the weird looks he got from people he pushed his way through the crown, for once wishing his humans away. "Shi...Shizu-chan is not dead," he whispered to himself. He knew he had a fever but he ignored it best he could, nothing would stop him from proving the world wrong, afterall he was the best informant. Reaching the cemetery he stopped.
This was it he was finally going to know the truth, he was finally going to prove everyone wrong. Taking hesitant steps he started reading the tombstones going as slowly and rereading every single name. Hours started ticking by but he did not give up, he would prove everyone wrong if it was the last thing he did.
Mid Day and he was almost done, he had read every single tombstone in the cemetery and not one said Shizuo Heiwajima, not one. He felt his heart start to beat faster as he got to the last ten tombstones. This was it. Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes before taking five steps to the left and standing still, slowly opening his eyes he read over the small print, 'Shikoku Tarshiku'. Good, one down nine to... his heart stopped.
With a sudden jerk he fell to his knees his hands over his mouth. 'Shizuo Heiwajima, Shizuo Heiwajima' He...he had fo...found i...t. Shizuo's grave was now in front of him. With baited breath he took his hands from in front of his mouth and yelled. "NOOOOO!" His throat protested but he didn't care, he just didn't care anymore.
Until now he had wished, he had hoped, that all this had just been a sick lie that the others had come up with but no...it wasn't a lie...there in front of him was Shizuo's grave. "N..o, Shi..zu...o..." his voice trembled with his body. This couldn't be true, this was a dream, he would soon wake up to find himself in his bed. Standing on shaky legs Izaya glanced at Shizuo's grave one last time before stumbling out of the cemetery.
