"He's coming, he'll be here, we just have to wait for him to grow up." The NIAS was discussing the plan to strand this three year old boy when he gets older.
"Look at him, you can tell he's a handsome little thing, and he'll be handsome when he grows up," said a lady in NIAS. She looked at him with an expression of wonder. The picture was projected on a huge flat screen. The pixels were very HD, so you could see every detail on his body. The polo shirt he was wearing, the dark blue shorts he was wearing, his short dark brown hair, his deep sea blue eyes with lighter blue chips near his pupils. He was the cutest little boy she had ever seen.
"We're closing up Abigail," said one of the NIAS members.
"Ok Henry, I'm coming, just give me a moment." Abigail wanted to protect him in secret; she wanted to make sure he would pass the test...
"Hey Jason, catch!" His friend,Caleb, yelled as he passed the football to him. Of course Jason caught it. He was the star quarterback for Gale High school in Arizona. Lots of girls were interested in him including Alisa Whinni, his "friend". Even though she tried to kiss him several times, they still hung out. He wasn't interested in those girls, he was only interested in Nacersa Shrabbi: the Indian girl that all the girls hated. She was very beautiful. Her hair was the perfect length, it swayed in the wind, her eyes were the perfect shade of brown, and her hair was a beautiful black color. All the girls hated her because most of the cute guys liked her, but only Jason was brave enough to go talk to her. They were very good friends, and he asked her if she wanted to go see a movie with him.
"That sounds great Jason," she responded. Even her voice was perfect. He smiled and kissed her cheek before he walked towards his house. When he got there, he noticed that his family was missing.
"Mom, dad, Lina?" He called their names over and over again until his voice cracked with emotion, and his throat was hoarse from yelling so much. He looked around the living room biting his lip trying to keep himself from crying as crying shows weakness to your hidden enemies. He just slumped against the door of his room and stared at the wall like he was waiting for it to tell him where his family went.
NIAS had a big plan for him, yes, he was the one. They gave Abigail the paper to gave Jason. She opened it up and read his description: 16, dark brown hair, deep sea blue eyes with lighter blue chips near his pupils, 6'0, white with Greek descent...it was all here. Abigail took a deep breath but failed as she coughed a smoker's cough. Then she tried again and succeeded. Then she gave the door an official knock.
Jason sat straight up when he heard the sound of a knock; maybe that was his family coming back, but he saw their car still there. He ran to the door and opened it, surprised to see a woman standing there instead of his family. Disappointment took over him, and it showed on his face. The woman smiled at him.
"Hello, my name is Abigail. I work for an organization called NIAS."
"What does it stand for?" Jason asked.
"That information is classified. I need you to read this and when you're ready, contact me with this phone number." She gave him the file and went on her way. Jason went inside opening the file and reading the description of him. He frowned for a moment before he read over the description multiple times. He looked up in shock right as a dart struck him in the leg. He screamed for a split second before he rocked from side to side and fell into darkness.
Jason woke up on the beach of a mysterious island. His body felt sore from the drug contained in the dart. He slowly felt for the ground when he felt something papery in his pocket. He slowly retrieved it and looked at the writing. It said:
Jason! This is very important that you read this. NIAS has trapped you on this island and expects you to find four haxts beetles and put them in a jar that you find. Your next assignment will be handed to you afterwards.
Jason's deep blue eyes widened with excitement, adrenaline, and fear. He took deep breaths, but the air felt moist in his throat. His heart beated in his chest like an African drum. He searched the island for the beetles.
If I was a beetle, where would I hide? He asked himself. Then he came across a decaying log. He inspected for a good two minutes before lifting it up to find haxts beetles. His face could not stop smiling. He quickly found the jar and swooped four in there. They hissed as his touch touched them; he could tell they don't want to be touched. When he got them in the jar, the jar disappeared! Then a hologram formed in front of him.
"Well done Jason. Now here is your next task; tip: each task gets harder. Find three Domarian sticks. Good luck." Jason sat there as another dart hit him. He sighed and fell into darkness.
Jason woke up in the Forsaken forest. Fear took over his senses. This forest is a very bad forest full of monsters out of nightmares, and lots of unnatural rays of light. And the biggest problem he had wasn't being in the forest, it was finding the sticks since oak trees look identical to Domarian trees. It was going to take Jason a thousand years to find one stick. He felt this pocket, and a note was in it. He opened it and read it.
Jason! Abigail here. I wanted to tell you how to tell the difference between oak and Domarian branches. The stronger branch will be Domarian. Good luck!
Jason's deep blue eyes scanned the whole place for an oak look-alike. After scanning the the area for several hours, he finally found a patch of oak/Domarian trees. One by one he picked up a branch and bent it, and if it broke, it was an oak branch; if it didn't, it was a Domarian branch. Jason broke stick after stick after stick until his hands were red and filled with splinters and blisters. He cried out in pain and leaned against a tree trying to think. Then another item appeared in his pocket. Reluctantly he grabbed the item out of his pocket and read the note attached the item.
Jason! One thing I forgot to give you. This is the watch that'll count down how long you have to until you're too late to get the supplies. Pleases, please watch the time, and if you're too late they'll...
Eagerness filled Jason like a balloon being filled with helium. He slowly looked up at the darkening sky. He slowly picked up the watch and saw 10 minutes and counting. He sat up so fast that his consciousness was quickly returning to him. He started up his branch testing routine again and quickly looked for the three Domarian branches.
Abigail was just stopped by Gorsi, the CEO of NIAS. He scowled so badly at her that she felt like a child being scorned, and he was the dad scorning the child.
"Are you helping the boy?" He asked her. She didn't respond, so he swiped everything off her desk causing her to scream in terror, and grabbed her up and pinned her to the wall.
"Are you helping the boy?!" He asked very forcefully. When she didn't answer the second time, he slapped her hard in the face. Henry was so angry that he ran towards Gorsi in an angry rage. Gorsi pulled out a gun and shot Henry in cold blood. Abigail shifted out a mangled cry. The death of her beloved fiancé killed in front of her was the most devastating thing she had ever experienced. Gorsi grabbed her again and dragged her into the room of lies. He sat in his rightful chair as lead, and his assistants sat on either side of him smiling mischievously down at her. Gorsi shook his head at her and whistled.
"I can't believe you would betray us like that Abigail, not to mention that our purpose was to use the boy as a sacrifice for the company, and you, you, you, you, were trying to prevent that." He turned to his assistants. "What should be her punishment?"
"I think Abigail should be included in the sacrifice," said Morris. Abigail gasped in betrayal. Morris was her best friend and was the one who got her and Henry together in the first place. Gorsi smiled in agreement.
"Yes, that shall happen! Abigail, I order you to death by fire. You will be killed along with Jason. Lock her up Morris."
Morris grabbed her by her hair and dragged her to the holding room. She kicked and screamed with all her strength, but Morris was too strong. She cried silently as he closed the door and darkness swallowed her up like a hungry bird swallowing a seed.
Jason just found the branches with ten seconds to spare. Now NIAS was telling him to find two vines on this island. He groaned. He knew the routine. A dart hit him and darkness overtook him. He woke up in a swamp. It was very humid, and Jason was very tempted to take his shirt off. He looked at the clock and saw only a minute on the clock. He tripped on a broken log, and as he fell, he found the two vines they wanted. He picked them up right as the clock struck zero. NIAS appeared through a hologram.
"Jason, you didn't get the two vines in on time. And we have you're family with us right now..." The man turned the projector to this family who were tied up against the wall.
"Jason! Oh my little Jason!" His parents yelled. The man cut his little sister free, but held her in his grip.
"I think I should slit your sister's throat for the delay should I?"
Linda screamed in terror and burst into tears as he put a knife to her throat. His parents were begging in the background. Jason's eyes widened, and his face was pale and sickly.
"Please! Please don't kill my sister! I'll do anything, anything! I'll even sacrifice myself!" Jason cried. A smug smiled spread across the
man's face.
"That's what I thought. Your family will be spared except for you; you
are the last thing on the list: 4,3,2,1...and you're number one."
His assistants cut the ropes off his family's wrists. They gave Jason a bruised look before they were escorted out of the room. Jason hung his head in sadness. The man smiled at his misery.
"Time to die Jason."
Jason was hit by another dart, and he woke up finding himself tied to a post with the vines he found them. I was preparing my own death, he thought sadly. Then he felt hands on the back of his.
"Jason! It's me Abigail!" She whispered. His head snapped up quickly. He turned his head enough to catch a glimpse of her brown hair.
"Abigail! What are you doing here?" He asked.
"They found out! They found out about me helping you."
Jason looked away from her frowning to himself. Her riddles and clues helped him, but it only helped him prepare his death. He turned his head back to her and growled, "No, you weren't helping me; you were helping me prepare my death faster."
Just then the man came in with his assistants trailing behind him with a torch in his hand.
"Gorsi," Abigail hissed. So that was his name! Gorsi! Jason scowled at Gorsi as he came towards them.
"I see you two are comfortable yes," he said in a mocking tone. Jason struggled in the vines trying to get out so that he could beat the crap out of him. Gorsi tipped the torch ever so slightly making Jason gasp and Abigail wail.
"Bye! Have a great time! Till death do part y'all." He dropped the torch, and the fire was rising very quickly. The beetles jumped into the flames making them rise ever faster. Abigail wailed in fear and cried. Jason closed his eyes as he felt the heat brush his face, and the flames lick his feet. He waited for the flames to engulf him...waiting and watching...watching and waiting...
The flames didn't kill him because he found himself in his bed in his house. He felt his life slipping away from him. His friends and family were all around him.
"Goodbye my dear. See you there in the afterlife," his parents said as they kissed the top of his head. His sister gave him a long hug. Caleb hugged him tight and said, "I hope to play football with you in heaven."
Last but not least, Nacersa. Her perfect face was masked with grief. She leaned down and lightly kissed his lips.
"I love you so much," she whispered in his ear. Then she buried her face on Caleb's chest. Jason smiled faintly before he closed his eyes and never opened them again.
