The breeze of the autumn chilly wind blew gently in my face as the city bustled below me. My feet dangled over the edge of the building as the cigarette in my hand shines bright like my future.

Hmm... Hahaha !

I have no future. Death is in my future, all of our futures. And for me, my job is to make people's futures brighter and quicker.

Quick and painful if you understand what I'm saying.

My parents messed up their futures so now it's messing up mine.

Debt. The word "debt" according to the dictionary says:

Something, typically money, that is owed or due.

That word is the reason why my so called future is the way it is.

"Run ! Run ! Shut em up, let's go !!" a voice muffled off in the distance. I creaked my neck to see two wannabe thugs shoving someone with a bag over their head.

I'm not sure if it was a guy or girl. Gosh I need to start wearing my glasses again.

"Go man go !"

Hmm, lemme weigh the odds. I can be a good citizen and save that person or I can crush the bud and go back home to watch Orange Is The New Black with Doritos before I go to work.

My iPhone buzzed in my pocket with a text from my colleague, Asher.

Asher: Extra duty tomorrow. Boss didn't have anything for us today.

"Okay, I have time" I thought to myself as I flicked the cigarette bud off my lips and dusted myself off.

Time to be a good citizen.

"Aye ! Aye y'all in the dark outfits !" I hollered as I hopped the roof top to the other building.

Here in Ronxas Park, it's like a mini Bronx with all these connected apartments. It's easy for me to jump from my complex to another on the other side of the hood in under a minute.

I hopped onto the building with a little stumble normally I would've landed done or even shown off but I don't know these guys.

Vulnerability gives more time for observation, but never cave into the act.

Already just by looking at em, I could tell they were both straight rookies. The short bony one looked like he was aboutta shart his pants just by my voice. While the buff tall guy had no type of caution for me.

If I was some type of hit man like them, I'd at least take precaution of someone noticing me on the job.

"W-who are are you ?" the bony one answered with his hands holding the victim's forcibly behind their back.

"The real question is who are you guys ?"

Buff guy moved Bony and Victim behind him protectively.

"No, he asked you first" his sausage of a finger found itself roughly nudging my chest causing me to "fall back a bit"

Hint the sarcasm.

I laughed a dry tempting laugh and looked into the oceanic blue eyes of Buff Boys.

"Look buddy, keep your finger away from my chest" I guess Buffy Boy took it as a joke because I know feel two deli meats products for fingers poke the middle of my chest.

"I don't know who you are sweet cheeks but if you don't- aaAAAH ! Ah ! Ah ! Aaah !"

If you're wondering why he burst into tiny girly screams is because I grabbed and twisted his fingers 360° around his back. Buff Boy is over here is screaming for his dear life while Bony over here still has no idea what's going on.

Jesus Christ man, these are the worst hit man hired.

I snarled into Buffy Boy's ear nastily, "Listen here Buff Boy"

"Oooh alliteration for the street rat" added on Bony.

"Haha, hilarious Dry Bones. Shut up" I twisted Buffy's fingers harder making him hit a high note I thought only Ariana Grande could hit.

"Falsetto. Hmm, high note there Buffy"

Before I could say anything else, Dry Bones began running off with the victim.

"Dang it" I mumbled. I kicked the back of Buffy's leg and ran off behind them.

The Arctic wind blew directly in my face causing my curly hair to block some of my vision. Come to think of it, I need to get a shape-up too. My curly Mohawk look is cute but I can't go around looking messed u-

"Oh shi-" I screamed as my foot came into contact to another object making me stumble. Jeez, I needa stop getting so distracted.

From the side I could hear a snicker. Dry Bones. They're getting away, damn it !! With a quick pounce up I was on my feet.

Where'd they go ?

My head spun and spun and spun in all directions looking for them until I finally found them on another roof too sprinting. Okay if I jump now I'll catch up to them at least. Alright, one foot at a time.

But to no avail, I hissed in pain trying to lift my foot up. I must've sprained it on the fall.

Dry Bones and Victim's steps were growing softer and softer by the second. Gosh I hate this "Good Samaritan" feeling that'll bite me if I don't save this person.

I inhaled deeply,

"YOLO"

And I was off. The wind in my face, the intense beat of my heart, the pitter-patter of my feet.

It was now or never.
