Chapter 3
(Sammy 🔝)
Lillian POV -
An alarm blares next to my head, alerting me it's time to get up for school. Turning it off before it wakes my dad, I hold in groans as my body shakes with pain as I sit myself up. The sun hasn't even risen, however I like to get up and out before my dad awoke. Saved me from any awkwardness or beatings. Making my way to my vanity table, I glance over my face, sighing in sadness as I take in the bruises and split lip.
Grabbing my colour correction and foundation, I cover the marks and spray with waterproof spray, ensuring it wouldn't come off throughout the day.
I carefully pull up my jeans, making sure they are not tight on the agonising pain off my stomach, before throwing an oversized hoodie on. Grabbing my school bag and loose change from my table, I quietly make my way downstairs. Tying my shoes, I freeze hearing a door open up stairs. Luckily, he's just gone to the bathroom. I hurry along as I hear him throwing up and i slip out the front door, making my way to the bus stop down the road. As I wait, I listen to music from my phone, noting I didn't charge it last night.
I see the bus come round the corner and hold my hand out waiting for it to stop. Climbing aboard, I pay my day fare and make my way to the back. I know it's too early to go to school yet, so I head to the nursery where I help out every now and again getting the children inside. As they started half an hour before I did, it was a great way to spend my time away from home. As I arrive, I wave to the few teachers who are already there. As per usual, each one ignores me. As time goes by, children begin to wonder in, their parents stood at the gate, waiting for them to go in.
One little boy in particular runs up-to me, hugging me. I grimace in pain but smile down at him once he looks up. "Good morning Sammy. How are you this morning? Where's your mother?" He grins before whispering back, "Morning Lil! I'm good, mum slept in, so my brother brought me. Look!" As he says this excitedly, pointing in one direction, I look up and follow his pointed finger as I feel eyes staring at me. Once I've looked up I notice it's Damien and gasp in surprise. He doesn't smile or anything, just waves goodbye to Sammy before getting back in his car and driving off. I look back down at Sammy before informing him that I have to go to school now. He just nods and wishes me a good day, the adorable boy.
Waiting for the bus yet again, I ponder the new information regarding Damien and his little brother. Not that it's a surprise I had no idea, I knew nothing about him. Just his actions, even minimal as they were, were different than the ones at school. The bus arrives and I hop on, checking the time, luckily I still had twenty minute until first bell rang, meaning I would be on time.
Getting off the bus, I see Damien leaning against his car, smoking. He catches my eye before glaring at me, causing me to look away and pick up my pace, heading inside. The halls are empty as it is still early. Putting my bag inside my locker, I only carry the books I need to my homeroom. I'm the first to arrive and sit in the corner at the back next to the window. Looking outside, I daydream until I hear the bell, startling me. After registration has been taken, the rest of the class sit and talk awaiting the next bell. I just sit in silence.
The bell rings and as I walk towards the door, I suddenly trip, causing my stuff to fly everywhere and my aches and pains in my body to spike. I grit my teeth, listening to everyone laugh. Looking up, I see it was Max who caused my trip with his foot stuck out. Collecting my stuff, the class empties. I make it to math just in time and take a seat. Stacy strolls in a minute later, heading in my direction. I slide down in my seat and try to avoid her gaze. Her hands slam down on my desk making me jump and the rest of the class to look over. My face reddens in embarrassment before I look up slightly.
Her smile is one of cruelty and her squeaky voice joins in. "Morning fatty. You better stay out of my way today, wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you." She says loud enough for everyone else to hear before the teacher steps inside. Stacy sits down behind me, every few mites kicking my chair and throwing stuff at me. This is going to be a long day.
