Prologue /// Rise of a Demon

Jeff groaned. He opened his eyes and sat up.

The first thing he noticed was that he was on the ground, in the street, instead of in his bed, where he last remembered being.

The second thing Jeff noticed was the heat. And he soon found the source of it, much to his horrer.

Fire crackled and glowed all around him. Each house as far as he could see was engulfed in flames, or already burnt to ashes and cinders.

Jeff couldn't believe what he was seeing. What the hell had happened?

He carefully staggered to his feet, wincing from a cut on his knee. His jeans had a small hole, where blood was bleeding out of in a rush.

Jeff limped over to his own house, the one with the least amount of fire.

"Mom?" He called. "Dad? Lui?"

But nobody came.

Jeff went to the bathroom, the only room with the light on. What he saw made him cry out.

The walls, the floor, everything was covered in blood.

The mirror, which was right in front of him, was the worst. Writen on it, in what looks like blood, were the words ArEn'T I bEaUtIfUl?????

Jeff staggered back. His eyes locked with those of his reflection's, and he gasped for breath.

He raced down the hall to the kitchen. There was a scene even worse than the bathroom.

Like the bathroom, there was blood everywhere. Pots, pans, broken shards of plates, and so much more littered the floor and the counters.

Sitting at the dining room table, lifeless eyes wide, were his mother and father. Each had a kitchen knife protruding from their backs, and their clothes were soaked through with blood.

"No! Mom! Dad!"

Jeff raced out. He didn't want anymore. No more blood, no more death, no more chaos.... It was too much for a thirteen year old boy.

Lui.

Jeff's brother was in his bedroom, eyes closed. Like his parents, a knife stuck out of his torso, though in his stomach this time.

But Lui's chest rose and fell, unlike the couple. It was so soft Jeff almost missed it, but when he did, he let out a cry of relief.

"Lui!" He choked, and ran to his brother. Lui slowly opened his eyes, which were filled with pain and fear.

"Jeff..." The whisper was so soft, Jeff almost missed it. He gently brushed a strand of hair away from Lui's eyes, and knelt down.

"I'm here... I'm right here, Lui...." Jeff sobbed. He grabbed Lui's hand and held it tightly.

Lui stiffened. He stared at Jeff, fear clouding his gaze. "You..." He whispered. "You... You monster!"

Jeff stared nervously at his brother. "Lui! Lui, it's me! Jeff!"

Lui started to thrash in his bed. "Monster! Monster!" He kept repeated, eyes staring wildly at Jeff.

"Lui, stop it!" Jeff took a step from his brother. He watched in horror as Lui went limp. His eyes glassed over. He stopped breathing.

"Lui...?"

Monster.

The voice rang in Jeff's head.

"W-what..?"

Monster. You're a monster.

"No... Stop! Please!"

Nobody loves you. You did this.

"Stop it! Leave me alone!"

You have no family. You have no friends. You're a monster. Nobody could ever love you.

"Stop it!" Jeff shrieked. He fell to his knees and covered his ears.

Suddenly, his mind flashed. Images came to him.

He was running through the hall, a lighter and a knife in each hand...

He was hitting, no... stabbing something.

His parents shrieked for mercy, but eventually fell silent.

He was in the bathroom, cutting into his own face and spelling out words in his own blood on the mirror.

He was chasing Lui into his bedroom.

He threw a knife at his brother. A knife that made its target.

He was running through the streets, lighting the grass, fences, everything on fire.

He was laughing maniacly, on his knees before passing out.

Jeff gasped and cried out. An invisible knife was dragging itself across his face, making a horrific smile out of his own blood.

He shrieked and writhed on the floor in agony. Flames blazed all around him. Some licked at his skin, setting his clothes on fire.

Monster.
