It was as if though the candle was my only companion throughout the sleepless nights.
It's flames flared in front of me as I stared at the drawing behind it on the wall. The one I drew a few days back as I recalled the memory of dad passing away. I hated the fact that I couldn't make out my brother's face properly. It was a complete blur. The details of the bed were poor and dads face was covered in what was supposed to look like a blanket.
With an irritated sigh, I got up from the floor and walking towards the wall, grabbing the charcoal pencil on my way.
The previous sketch was big, but there was still plenty of free space left on the wall.
I sat down with my legs crossed and stared at my shadow. Just as the charcoal made contact with the smooth wall, a thought crossed my mind. I have to perfect his features.
With that, I pulled the candle by its stand, and placed it in front of me to the left side, instantly dissolving my shadow.
I closed my eyes and tried to gather all of what I remember of when I last saw him.
-
Satisfied with what I created, I smirked as I sat on my previous spot on the floor with my back against the bed.
I observed the sketch of my brother's sleeping face - eyes closed with his lashes casting a shadow under them. I scanned through the sketch, from his hair that was covering one side of his forehead to the sunken spot above his collar bones, in search of any flaw. I found none.
I perfected it.
The only difference was that the chest wasn't moving. His collar bones were frozen on the spot, just like when I last saw him - when he was asleep but not breathing. Just like the day he left me.

Sorry for the late update. It's just that I've lost motivation and I'm trying to finish my on going stories.
