First Meeting
You hated everything. The world always seemed to be against you. Every time things may be going good for you, somebody always had to knock you down. There were days like this one where you felt hopeless, where you felt like life isn't worth it anymore. A seemingly grey cloud cast heavy rain on you, feeling drenched yet unable to detect a single hint of water on your body. It felt like the heavy chains of your heart made you drag out every step you made, digging you further into the earth with its heavy load. It was suffocating, and the worst part was that nobody around you could visibly notice. You felt truly alone.
There was a time when you thought someone loved you. They treated you nicely, made you feel special, focused only on you. Those were actions so new to you, yet you felt so grateful and happy someone loved you as much as you loved them. But life had other plans for you. They used you, pulled the strings of love connecting you both further and further, until they left. They snapped those strings and left your heart bleeding and broken on the floor.
So there you were, sitting on the bench late at night, watching as the sun laid its head to rest and the moon rise to watch over the world. Was it possible to feel so at peace, yet your heart is in turmoil at the same time? So you did all there was left to do: cry.
Those wretched tears stained the same cheeks that once blossomed with happiness whenever you smiled at the one you lost. Those tears streamed like rushing waterfalls, seemingly endless. That thought was only proven wrong when you heard someone sit next to you. You stopped, wiped your tears and looked to the figure on the right of you. You watched as he looked down at your face and smiled a beautiful smile that seemed to light up the world around you both. He said nothing, but extended out his arms to you in a warm manner, inviting you to rest in his arms. You were a bit surprised at the action. You didn't know the man and yet he was willing to comfort you for a while. His kind eyes and gentle aura lulled you to finally rest your aching heart. You leaned your head against his chest and felt safe in his warm embrace. You smiled and closed your eyes, allowing yourself to be vulnerable for once and let your guard down. The man spoke gently. "It's ok. Everything will be ok," he reassured you lovingly. You couldn't thank this man enough for his patience, and admire how one could love people as easily as he could. You sniffed, wiped your eyes, and looked up at the man with an equally gentle smile. "Thank you for being a decent human being," you joked half-heartedly. He giggled and grinned widely. "I'm Patton, by the the way!" He said happily. "(Y/n)," you replied back simply. He reached down next to his feet and held out a plate of cookies towards you. You laughed at his cute gesture and took one. You eyed it wearily for a moment. "Don't worry, I didn't poison it," Patton joked, letting out a goofy laugh. You grinned and ate the cookie, reaching towards the plate to grab another one.
You two spent the rest of the night eating cookies and talking with each other. When you were with him, you felt safe and comforted. You felt that he would be a good friend to rely on, and a loyal one too. With him, you could finally allow yourself to trust someone again. With an exchange of numbers and a hug goodbye, you walked home with a smile on your face, and maybe leaving a trail of cookie crumbs behind.
