Talk- speak in order to give information, express ideas or feelings
Sooooooo what do you think so far? Im glad people are actually reading this story so thank you! If you have any suggestions I would love to hear from you.😉 Once again the animes and drawings are not mine so I cannot claim ownership. Enjoy! 👌🏽
Ps. This might be one of the shortest chapters since they're (like the title hints) talking.
Neutral POV
When Inuyasha and Tomoe arrived they all had a very tense dinner thanks to the ones that brought in the water. Afterwards Kagome showed the traveling duo to their room which was really one divided in half. Now Nanami and Tomoe got ready to sleep.
Kamisama POV
Nanami checked the blanket separating her and her familiar for the third time making sure it was good.
" Would you stop fussing!?" Tomoe was irritated enough with the current situation, but Nanami was just making it unbearable. " As I've told you hundreds of times before, I TAKE NO INTEREST IN HUMAN WOMEN! So can you please just, g o t o s l e e p!"
The truth was that secretly, Tomoe wondered what it would be like to sleep so close to his mistress. (Why can't she just be called his master even though she's a girl? Why must it be so awkwardly weird for me to type this?)
So close, yet so far. 'Wait? What am I thinking!? I- I would never have feelings for human women, they are weak, fragile, and die easily. But still I can't help it,' Thought the fox.
He looked up at Nanami who was staring at him quietly yet observingly.
"What are you looking at me for?! If anything I should be worried you'd try something with me!" He snapped.
Nanami, stunned by his words, blushed before turning away huffing.
"As if I would do anything like that! I-I'm going to ask Kagome for an extra blanket to divide us just in case." The God stormed off grumbling compliances about a sneaky fox and whatnot. Tomoe mentally slapped himself. He had to stop doing that, getting her angry whenever she showed any interest for him. But he couldn't help it, whenever she got close to him in any way he always got nervous and his mean instincts took over.
They always got the job done, driving away Nanami and the weird feeling she always made Tomoe have (love!😋), but the price to pay was an angry, irritated God and a whole bunch of mini problems to fix. Tomoe just lied down in the futon and tried to forget about everything. He vowed that word binding or no word binding, tomorrow he would get Nanami and himself out of there and back home before the snake destroyed the shrine completely.
Inuyasha POV (right after Kagome left)
After Kagome left the two visitors she went straight to her and Inuyasha's room all the way on the other side of the house. She stopped briefly infront of one of the windows to admire they view. The forest Inuyasha had chosen was so beautiful all year round, but especially now when the trees where in full pink bloom.
The house itself was enough to leave you without breath. For those who where not from around here and didn't really know of Kagome's origins, then the house would seem completely crazy to them with its modern-traditional look. It wasn't all that different inside. While the doors were still the type you slide, the walls where not made from the papery material but where actual wood separations (wood walls). While a typical Japanese hut (like Sango and Miroku's) was one or two rooms at most, theirs was three. One big room which made the kitchen/living area and two rooms;Kagome and Inuyasha's and an extra that was usually used by Shippo when he visited but was currently being used for Nanami and Tomoe.
Up ahead beyond the trees, the moon shone brightly, framed by the pink leaves that slightly rustled in the wind. Kagome was about to keep walking when a bright read fabric by the far right of the house caught her eye.
"Inuyasha? But I thought he'd be asleep by now. Maybe something's wrong?" Making the least possible noise she could, she made her way over to him and sat next to him. Even though they were both aware of each others presence, no one made any movements to talk. They just sat there on a log staring up at the moon.
"Inuyasha..."
"Kagome..."
They both looked away slightly blushing when they spoke at the same time.
(What? They can still be shy with each other!)
"I'm sorry Inuyasha. I should've asked you before inviting them to stay but...."
"Your right. You should've asked me." He interrupted her but did not continue for a few seconds.
" Kagome," he started exasperatedly when she didn't answer him at all,"These people kidnapped you, we have no idea who they are or why they are really here. I doubt they came to see this Yukiji, they don't even know where to find her!" This time Kagome spoke.
"The way I remember it, when we first met Miroku and Shippo, they tried to steal jewel shards from us. Sango tried to kill you as did Kykyo. They weren't the nicest people at first and tried to cause harm but look now, three of them are you friends and the other one your first love." Inuyasha grew tense at the mention of Kykyo. Kagome sensed this and tried to change course. She laid her head on his should and gripped his arm softly tipping her head back and taking in the dark beauty of the starry night sky.
"The sky is beautiful isn't it?" She abruptly stated.
'Yes, just like you' many were these kinds of thoughts that Inuyasha was never brave enough to say out loud. He moved his head slight to the left so he could see Kagome, her eyes opened wide in wonder and her mouth upwards in a soft smile.
" Even though the sky is calm, peaceful, and amazing right now, sometimes it becomes dark, angry, and merciless creating a storm so huge it can do a lot of damage. But later, even the roughest of storms calm down at some point and the sky becomes nice and calm again." Not waiting for a reply she continued,"People can be like this too. The make mistakes which can lead to huge consequences and very bad things which are just caused because of the mistake or misunderstanding." Inuyasha could see where she was going with this.
"I told Nanami this earlier, what they did was an honest mistake and if I judged everyone by first impressions like you, I wouldn't be here right now would I?" Kagome tried to reason with him.
Inuyasha chukled a little ,"I guess you wouldn't be here with me if that's how things were. Kagome, your too nice for you own good but I guess that's a good thing for me right?" They smiled at each other for a moment. Probably remembering their first meeting. The chilly night wind blew making Kagome shiver because of her light spring clothes. When Inuyasha saw this he gently pulled her into his lap and tried to cover her with the sleeves of his fire rat robe. Once the were comfortable with his head resting on top of hers and Kagome leaning against his chest he gave her his consent,
"As long as they don't get in trouble or cause trouble, yes I mostly mean the fox.."
"Tomoe."
"Whatever. What I'm saying is they can stay but not for a long time. They should get back to their own time as fast as they can." The last words were filled with an obvious bitterness that made Kagome cringe despite the happiness at him letting them stay.
"Inuyasha? Where you worried that they'd traveled using the well?" She knew all too well what was bothering him.
"What? No! Of course not! Well... Kagome, do you.... do you regret coming to live here with me?" This time his words were so miserable that Kagome turned around and hugged him tightly leaving Inuyasha blushing and speechless.
"Why would I ever regret coming here?! Inuyasha, you have no idea how happy I was the day the well reopened! For three years I felt weird and alone in a world I knew I no longer belonged in. This place, the feudal era with you and our friends, has become my home. Yes I miss my family and hope I'll, see them again someday in the future, but I have never regretted my choice and I never will." Kagome knew something like this was bothering him. His eagerness to leave when he'd sensed something not from here and the relief in his tone when Nanami said they hadn't traveled through the well, it was all too obvious.
"Thank you Kagome." Was all Inuyasha managed." You have no idea how long I've waited for those words."
When Kagome pulled back, they shared a quick but sweet kiss that had all their feelings for each other or rather, the most important ones.
"Wanna go back inside?" This time the words were soft and carefully spoken as if they themselves could break the beautiful moment created between the two lovers.
"Nah, let's stay out a while longer." Kagome rested her head against his chest, wrapping her hands around Inuyasha as best as she could. They stayed like that for a while just listening to the sound of their quiet breathing and the stillness of the forest. Kagome, tired from having to take care of the guests fell asleep and was gently carried inside by Inuyasha. Both of them had been so focused on each other they never noticed someone had listened to part of their conversation.
Kamisama POV
"The sky is beautiful isn't it?"
That's where Nanami accidentally started listening to the conversation. She was gonna walk away! She really was! But Kagome's beautiful words lured her into staying. Inuyasha was right, Kagome was too nice. And he was lucky for having someone like her. Hearing her confession to Inuyasha and how things went from there made her want to fan girl. They're so perfect for each other!!! Like yin to yang they were created to be soul mates. The blossoming rose of hope Kagome had planted inside Nanami grew and grew with each passing moment. Every one told her relationships between yokai and human are forbidden but looking at Inuyasha and Kagome she began to question that. Their mutual love surpassed all limits, they didn't care one would die way before the other or at least didn't seem to care now. And Inuyasha never once looked like he treated Kagome as inferior. If anything they were on the same level or he praised Kagome on a higher one.
When she saw Inuyasha make motions to get up she quickly ran back towards the room to hide. Before she went in she looked back again to see Inuyasha carry Kagome bridal style in a way so she would be comfortable.
'Not how Tomoe has ever carried ME' one of the thorns in the rose of hope pricked Nanami inside reminding her of how things where like between her and Tomoe, the complete opposite of Inuyasha and Kagome. Finally making her way back to the guest room she quickly went under the covers and tried to look asleep so Tomoe wouldn't bother her. To no avail the familiar still asked her,
"Where's the extra blanket you went to get?"
"Kagome was... busy but if your really worried about needing one I'll see if I can find one myself...."
"No! I didn't mean that- oh for Kamisama sake! You were gone quite a long time and I was just wo-worried that something might have happened but nothing did so goodnight!" The fox turned around on the other side of the blanket so he could avoid any more talking.
"You were worried?" Maybe hope wasn't a futile idea after all! At least that's what Nanami thought.....
"Yes I was worried because it's my forced job to worry about you now go to sleep!" His instincts pushed her away again.
"Hm!" Huffed the kamisama before turning away. Tomoe sighed, this was going to be a loooooooong night.
