Chapter 58: Last Dinner part 2

N: All of the English stared blankly at Mandoria, England's jaw dropped from the age, which then he asked, "Why are you so fucking old? No wait, how?"

"England, language," Anglo scolded, "and that's no way to respond to this."

"300,000, give or take?" Saxon said, confused, "Give or take what? A million years?" Anglo facepalmed himself again from the entity's question.

"If you could ignore both England and Saxon," the country spoke, "I've got to admit. That is a very long time, and I would have lost it midway."

"And I'm just thinking about living past seventy," Johann muttered.

M: Mandoria laughed at everyone's reaction to his age, "I sometimes surprise myself when I think of how long I have lived, it baffles me too that I managed to last this long and yet can outfly most of the winged countries in my court, except for Commonwealth of course, if he were to challenge me I would just give him the title without resistance."

"But he won't," Derogan said in a serious voice, "because someone else will beat him to it, won't he."

The atmosphere changed to somber after he said that, Mandoria especially looked grim, "yes Derogan, and we know the outcome too, 300,000 years, I expect them to end soon, but hopefully it won't be sooner than we think."

Rowen looked at his king with sadness, he placed a hand over the kingdom's and tried to give him a reassuring smile, only it was more of a half-hearted attempt at one.

N: "But that wouldn't happen if I beat him up," Saxon muttered, catching Anglo's attention.

"And how exactly are you going to do that," the country questioned, "it's not as if you can waltz into the Kingdom, let alone reach him."

"It's fine," the entity brushed off, waving his hand as he continued, "I am going to do what Saxons do best: hate the Prussians with a hint of pizzazz." The country raised a brow when he heard him, and he glanced between Mandoria and Saxon.

"If you are going to do something reckless," he mumbled in German so the rest wouldn't hear, "at least your intention is well placed." Johann tilted his head when he heard the country but remained silent.

M: "Pizza, what does King Italy have to do with stopping King Prussia," Derogan asked.

"It's probably just a metaphor my son," Mandoria explained, then turned back to the Englishmen, "I don't know what you are planning Saxon but perhaps it is best you do not get involved, I already have the Nordic brothers distracting Prussia with their war with Swedish Empire, Commonwealth and even Wales said they would pitch in too. I don't want you all to get mixed up in my problems and possibly end up in a life or death situation."

N: "As I said, it's fine," Saxon reiterated, "and I became involved since the battle in Saxony," he glanced over to Johann, "before what happened afterward." The boy nodded but held his head down.

The entity cleared his throat, "anyways, afterward, because of the overall unrest within the Saxon population against the Prussian, an insurgent formed in the area." He leaned back, placing his hands behind his head, "he's a nice chap, although more on the reckless side, and since he has fealty to me, I can give him specific orders to stir up the Kingdom from the inside. But it's not as if he wasn't born to do that anyway."

"Seems like you already got this all planned out," Anglo commented, then he faced Mandoria, "when it comes to Saxon's insurgent activities, the British Empire doesn't have any links to it, so if Saxon were to start anything, the rest of us are not part of it unless we decide to."

"And BE is already fed up with what Faeder is doing with his empire, so I think he's fine not backing him," England added.

The entity shrugged, "even if it was intentional or not, I am already involved, plus the life-threatening situations come with the job."

M: Mandoria just nodded, not finding anything else to add to the conversation. He noticed that Mandara had been quiet during all of that and when he looked over to him the boy was fast asleep.

Mandoria smiled and stood up, walked over to Mandara, and hoisted him into his arms, "well guess someone is pretty tired, you all must have had a good day while I was working." He said, "I should get him to bed, you're all welcome to leave when you're finished eating, Derogan, are you coming too?"

"Yes Father," the prince confirmed, "I'm tired too, goodnight everyone, England don't wake people up in the morning."

N: "I'm not going to-" England started, but Anglo just rested his hand on his shoulder and shook his head, "argh, ok. Good night Derogan." The rest of them bid the three Mandorians goodnight as they left the room.

"Hezyka, could we go too," Johann asked, stifling a yawn, "I think Titan and Lyra might miss us. Actually, maybe not Lyra, that cat is mean."

M: Rowen smiled, he felt pure joy at being called Hezyka, it's something he wanted to be called for a long time. "Yes my Finzenda, we can go home now, say good night to Edel though because he may not want you to go."

He was right, the minute Edel heard they were leaving he crawled over to Johann and tried to make him stay by hugging him close with wings and paws.

N: "It's alright, Edel," Johann laughed as he tried to pry his way out of the dragon's hug, "I'm going to come back tomorrow morning so I won't be long. I'm just going to go home."

The boy hugged the dragon back, and got an idea, "Do you know what, Edel? England is going to go back to his home tomorrow, and might be gone for a long time, so why don't you stay with him tonight?"

M: Edel looked to England as if asking if that was true, and instead of entrapping or sitting on him, the dragon crawled back over to the country and gently nuzzled him, letting out the occasional whimpers.

"I guess he's going to miss you England," Rowen stated the obvious, "at least he is learning about personal boundaries and you don't have to deal with him sitting on you."

N: "Oh Edel," England hushed as he hugged the dragon's head, "sadly it's true, and I am going to miss you dearly." Stroking his scales, the country continued, "however, one day we will meet again, and I hope it's sooner rather than later."

The country fell silent as he continued to pet Edel, hugging him as he gave him reassuring pats. "You are learning to not sit on me on sight, which is great for me," England softly chuckled, "but I will miss the affection."

M: Edel gave the country a small lick on his cheek and purred as he was being petted, earning a smile from Rowen.

"I think you'll be getting sat on soon enough, England," he chuckled, "when you get back definitely write to me about Scotland and BE's reaction to you being adopted. With that being said, good night everyone, we'll be here bright and early to see you off, right Johann."

N: Johann nodded, "yep, we will." The boy jumped out of his seat and stood beside Rowen, "Good night everyone."

"Good night," the English replied, and England continued, "I will definitely tell you of their reaction, and I'm sure that it would be good."

"Yes, I can already imagine it," Anglo smiled, and he stood up, "we best be on our way to bed now. I hope the both of you rest well."

M: "Same to you," Rowen agreed, he waved goodbye and took Johann's hand, leading him out of the castle and back home.

When England and his fathers started leaving to go to their rooms Edel started following the country, he was slow and a little wobbly from yesterday but managed quite well, surprisingly. Before the English countries actually retired to bed, Mandoria managed to bump into them as he was carrying two more quilts.

"Oh good, I thought I might catch you all before you went to bed," he said, "Saxon, Anglo, these are for you, I always send visitors; or in this case surprise guests, home with a gift to remember us by. I had already given ones to Celtica and England so it's only fair you two get one too."

N: The both of them thanked Mandoria as they received their quilts, and the first thing they noticed was their soft texture. "Wow," Anglo said in amazement, "it's beautiful and soft," he looked up to the King, "it's perfect." Saxon nodded in agreement, placing his head on it.

England smiled at his parents, and he looked to Edel, "Hey buddy, are you coming to my room, or do you want me to go wherever you're going?"

M: Edel nudged England's arm, saying that he was following him, Mandoria smiled at that and scratched the dragon's chin, "looks like you will be well taken care of tonight, I just hope he doesn't decide to get on the bed with you because I doubt it would support his weight. Goodnight you three, try to get a good rest for your trip tomorrow."

After Mandoria left for his room and Anglo and Saxon to theirs, Edel followed England to his room and squeezed himself in the door, which wasn't that hard since he was a rather lean dragon. He watched as England did his nightly routine and after he lay in bed Edel lay his head next to him, softly purring.

N: England stroked the dragon's head, humming as he felt himself getting tired. "Good night, Edel," he yawned, and he looked past him to the bedside table, where he placed his quilt and Mandara's feather. His eyes soon felt heavy, so he closed them and drifted to sleep.

As soon as the sun's rays were visible in the sky, a tired Mandorian messenger slowly trotted on his steed towards the main entrance of the Kingdom, in his bag was a letter from the British Empire addressed to Mandoria. The same messenger that was sent to Anglo came back to his kingdom, and when he was stopped by the knights, he told them that he brought good news from the British.

M: Mandoria was still sleeping when a knock came at his bedroom door, still drowsy, it took him a while to register that someone was knocking but when he did he sat up and permitted whoever it was to come in.

A knight came in and respectfully bowed before speaking, "Verace ankar, Sire, the messenger that first contacted Sir Anglo had returned, he claimed to have brought good news from the British Empire."

Mandoria raised a brow at this information, wondering what kind of good news BE sent, he wasn't sure if it was Celtica since he doubted she could travel thousands of miles in just a day and a half and have time to send the messenger back, but then he remembered that he had his owl deliver a message to BE two days prior, so maybe it had something to do with that.

Mandoria got dressed and made himself look presentable before heading to the throne room where the messenger was waiting with a few knights.

"Verace ankar gentlemen, we have been informed that thou hast brought a message from British Empire, will thou care to elaborate please," he asked in his royal voice.

N: "Verace ankar, your Majesty," the messenger said and he bowed. From his bag, he brought out a letter, on it had the royal seal of the British Empire, "this is for you. His Majesty, the British Empire, only told me to tell you to read it and to announce that the news was good." He handed the letter to the King and waited for his response:

'To the Kingdom of Mandoria,

I hope this letter finds you well.

Thank you for sending me the letter, and it has allowed me to rethink my decision concerning your Kingdom. Largely thanks to my brother Wales, he helped me think through my actions, and I write to say that I decided to lift all restrictions that I have previously placed.

Your letter has given me new insight into what has been happening, and seeing that my family has been treated well in such a circumstance has shown me I have erred in my ways and I am sorry for my rash actions. After receiving information about the incident in Saxony, and now about the rogues, both my Father and my Grandfather would face the consequences for causing these.

Please understand that I only want my family back, and I wish that they will have a safe journey home.

Kind Regards,

From a friend,

British Empire'

M: Mandoria smiled once he was finished reading, a weight lifting off his shoulders as he sighed in relief.

"It is indeed very good news," Mandoria confirmed, "thank you BE, thank you."

Mandoria thanked the messenger and had the knights take him home so he could rest, he would be sure to pay him handsomely for his long journeys to and back from the British Isles. He decided to inform the chefs to make something special for breakfast, both to celebrate and so the English will have a pleasant departure.
