Chapter 11: Anglo Arrives
M: "Wait, you can't just run after a badger, those things are dangerous!" Derogan shouted when he saw Saxon run after the animal.
He was about to go after the entity when his feathers vibrating stopped him, they were unfamiliar vibrations so he guessed pretty quickly who they belonged to.
"Hey, Anglo is here," he screamed at the top of his lungs, he didn't think Saxon heard him though so decided to just go meet his fellow wing by himself. Derogan walked in the direction of the vibrations and came upon Anglo and a bunch of soldiers, who he instantly recognized as Prussians, surrounded by Mandorian knights.
"What's going on here," he asked the knights as he walked closer, "Sir Anglo is here to pick up Sir Saxon, he shouldn't be greeted by swords."
-----
Back inside the castle, Mandoria also felt Anglo's vibrations, he walked over to a window and saw his knights holding Anglo and a bunch of humans at sword-point with his son standing nearby. Although odd he thought nothing of it, figuring his knights didn't know who Anglo was, so he walked away to go ease the tension.
N: Anglo turned around when he felt a vibration in his wings and was relieved when he saw the young country speaking to the knights, since he did not want to be mixed up with the humans. He nodded to what Derogan stated and added, "and I do not come here to harm anyone, unlike these men here."
When he felt another vibration in his wing, he recognized it as the ones of the King Wing, so even before Mandoria was with them Anglo had lowered his wings in respect. While Derogan was still on the topic of Saxon, Anglo asked, "would you know where the man is?"
-----
Saxon did not heed Derogan's warning and continued to chase the badger until he saw it slow down. "Now I got you," he snarled, as he got ready to grab it, but then he saw some young badgers crawling out behind the badger from the thicket, which confused Saxon for a moment. Then he realized.
Is this the mother?
He got his answer when the badger bared its teeth at Saxon and started to chase him, who by then was sprinting away from the mother and internally slapping himself on the head for not thinking this through.
Saxon was not paying attention to where he was going, so he tripped over a stone and landed face-first on the ground. He looked up and around, believing that he was safe until he saw a snake appear from a crevice and slithering through the grass. This promptly caused Saxon to shout at the top of his lungs as he scurried away and climbed up a tree.
M: "Um ..." Derogan said uncertainly, he definitely didn't want to say where Saxon was in front of the Prussians, that would end in disaster.
Not wanting to lie either, the prince switched to his authoritative king stance that his father taught him and said, "yes, I do know where Sir Saxon is, however, I think it best not to say in front of these Prussian soldiers, as that would be putting him in danger."
Just then, a loud scream came from the woods, Derogan's eyes widened as everyone tuned in that direction. It was obviously Saxon but the prince hoped that none of the Prussians recognized it, so he tried to throw them off by saying, "Tes Muler, someone really needs to find that deer, the damn thing sounds like it's possessed."
Derogan knew Anglo would recognize the scream so he vibrated his feathers, silently telling him to play along and he would explain later.
N: When he heard the scream, Anglo itched to go to its source to find Saxon; however, after getting the message from Derogan, stood where he was. He played along and said, "I have heard reports of such deer in the area."
He turned to one of the Prussians who questioned that it might be Saxon, to which Anglo replied, "do you truly think that Sir Saxon, head of insurgents, would let out such a childish scream like that? You surely underestimate him."
He ambled up to the soldier, and pointed out, "before arriving here, I had a conversation with Sir England, and he said that no one is to hunt down Saxon. With the lack of support of a major power, and I believe of your own country too, who would be available at your time of need?" He grabbed their shoulders and turned them so they faced away from the kingdom.
The soldier protested, "we are here to right the wrong he did in Saxony."
Anglo, since he heard rumors of what happened in Saxony, tensed but continue to speak, "well, who else is better at punishing Saxon than the person who knows his strengths and weakness?" He pushed the soldier a bit to indicate to move away, and then he eyed the leader, "you would not want your precious young empire to face the might of British Empire, who I should point out is the grandson of Saxon, would you?"
M: "You would be surprised," Derogan muttered to himself, he knew all too well how powerful Prussia was, he didn't doubt that the winged bastard could take on British Empire.
Just then, Mandoria came out and walked over to the group, his knights made way for him and bowed in respect, Derogan went to stand by his dad.
"Sir Anglo, I am so glad you could make it," he said, flicking his wing in greeting. However, when he recognized the Prussian soldiers his eyes narrowed and his wings flared and bristled threateningly, "care to explain why you are in the company of Prussian knights?"
N: Anglo lowered his wings when Mandoria arrived; however, they sunk lower when he was questioned by him. He did not want to be associated with the Prussians but being surrounded by them did not help his cases, so he explained.
"I was gliding when I saw these knights approaching your kingdom, Sir Mandoria, and I landed in front of them to enquire as to why they were here."
He looked up to Mandoria to see his reaction.
M: Mandoria held his threatening stance for a minute more until Derogan piped up.
"It's true Father," he said, "I saw him confront the Prussians from the woods." That wasn't true, he found them after the Mandorian knights confronted them, but he trusted that Anglo wouldn't side with the Prussians and his father would believe him.
It worked, Mandoria relaxed his wings and apologized, "well forgive me for accusing you, Sir Anglo," he then turned his attention to the Prussians, "I want you all to leave immediately, you're not welcome here and you will be arrested for trespassing."
N: Anglo watched as the Prussian knights grumbled as they marched away, some of the Mandorian knights following them to make sure that they were leaving and the rest surrounding the king and the prince.
He fluttered his wings nervously since he was in the presence of the King Wing, but also he wanted to check on Saxon, so he said, "I would understand that we should head inside to discuss formally about Sir Saxon; however, earlier both your son and I heard him scream, so may I go to see if Saxon is safe?"
He faced the forest nervously, he rarely sees Saxon scared.
M: Mandoria raised a brow in confusion then turned to Derogan for an explanation.
The teen rubbed his arm awkwardly, "Sir Saxon and I were in the woods looking for an animal to prank someone with. I let it slip that you were afraid of badgers and he ran after one to catch it, my guess is he got more than what he bargained for."
Mandoria frowned and shook his head in exasperation, "I swear it's like I was raising three children when I took him in. Well, can you lead us to where he last was Derogan?"
The teen nodded and led the way he saw Saxon run in.
N: Anglo chuckled when Mandoria referred Saxon to a child, when he was not his insurgent self he could be like that sometimes. He trailed behind Mandoria and Derogan as the prince led them, and he thought as to why Saxon may have screamed.
"There are not many things he is afraid of," he thought out loud, "the last time he was scared was after British Empire came from Australia ... oh." He then let out a small laugh and asked Derogan, "do you by chance have snakes in this kingdom?"
-----
Saxon still clung onto the tree and was shivering even more from still being in wet clothes, his alertness was on overdrive since encountering the snake. He looked down from his vantage point and saw the group coming, when he spotted Anglo he called out to get their attention.
N: "Indeed we do," Mandoria replied for his son, "a big nuisance they are, but my sons have found a way to 'put them to use' haven't you Derogan."
Derogan chuckled, "yup, I was even able to prank Saxon by jumping out with a snake while he was by the river a moment ago, he fell in and we started chasing each other."
Mandoria hummed with interest but couldn't respond because he heard Saxon calling to them. The three looked up and spotted the entity clinging to the top of a tree.
"Saxon, what in the five realms of Jastrem are you doing up there?" Derogan called up to him, "did that badger give you a run for your money, I told you those things were dangerous."
N: "Not only the badger, but another blasted snake popped out on nowhere," he called out. He turned to Anglo to see him laughing and frowned, "this is not a laughing matter Anglo."
On the ground, Anglo found the prank amusing, and seeing him clinging to the tree didn't help, and he called back up, "Sorry Saxon," he calmed himself down and continued, "should I help you down?" Saxon nodded.
Anglo turned to Mandoria and pointed to Saxon, "May I?"
M: Mandoria and Derogan snickered at the scene, seeing the head of insurgents clinging to the top of a tree like a scared kitten was something they would cherish for years to come, it was a shame Mandara wasn't out to see it, he would have been laughing his ass off.
"Of course, I won't stop you," Mandoria said when Anglo asked for permission to get Saxon, he and Derogan stepped aside to give their fellow winged country the room to take off.
N: Anglo nodded, spread his wings, and took off so he reached the same height as Saxon. He hovered in front of Saxon as he clung to the tree and shook his head, "well are you not a sight for sore eyes?" He stretched out his arms so that Saxon could reach him, and when he did, Anglo carried him bridal style back down.
While he held him, he noticed how much he shivered, so when he landed, he allowed him to stand, despite wobbling a bit and wrapped his wing around him to try to keep him warm. Saxon mumbled a thank you as he did, which gave Anglo a smile. Saxon scanned the area for any snakes.
"Now that I have rescued Sir Saxon," Anglo said, which got an annoyed grumble from Saxon, "may we retire to your home to rest?"
After he said that, he winked at Derogan and added, "nice job, kid. You pranked Saxon."
M: Derogan smiled proudly at the congrats, Mandoria just rolled his eyes before saying, "yes we shall, I'm sure you've had a long journey, Sir Anglo."
This time, Mandoria led the way back inside the castle, which he made sure Derogan didn't bring any animals into. When they entered they were met with Mandara out of bed and sitting at the steps of his father's throne.
"Mandara, what are you doing out of bed, you should be resting," Mandoria said as he walked over to his youngest son.
"I felt my wings vibrate and came to see what was going on," Mandara explained, his voice was quiet and hoarse.
Mandoria shook his head and picked up his tired child, "you know better than to be up when you're sick, your body needs rest."
Mandara nodded weakly and just closed his eyes, Mandoria said to the others, "I'm sorry, I have to put him to bed, Derogan, can you show Sir Anglo and Sir Saxon to the library again so he can get warm."
Derogan nodded, so Mandoria took his leave to put Mandara back to bed.
N: While they followed Derogan, Anglo asked, "Again?"
"I will explain to you later," muttered Saxon as they reached the library, and when they took a step in, Anglo was amazed by its size, "this is quite a library you have."
He helped Saxon walk to the couch near the fireplace, where he sat him down and then he snuggled next to him, ignoring that he doesn't have enough space for his wings, and wrapped him around with his wing to keep him warm.
Anglo turned to Derogan, and said, "thank you for bringing us here. Would you know where Saxon could get a clean set of clothes and may you please give us some privacy so I could discuss something with Saxon?"
M: "Yup, it's getting quite common that he needs new clothes," Derogan said, "I think his old ones are repaired by now so I'll get those ones, have fun lovebirds."
With that, he ran off to find Saxon's repaired clothes.
