Part 5: The Love Stories

M: Mittens

L: Luv

Mandara really seemed traumatized, thought Wehrmacht. The German himself knew that feeling in the dreadful battle of Stalingrad but he couldn't imagine the horrors USSR personally dealt out to prisoners. Just then, a line of waiters filed into the room and served them the steaming food they ordered.

When MA changed the subject to Bundeswehr, it was Germany who responded, "He used to be a soldier in the war and afterwards, he helped the Allies rebuild the country—well, Western Germany at least. Then the reunification happened and the Allies thought it would be good to have him become my militant entity, Bundeswehr."

Wehrmacht winced and quickly focused on eating his beef stew.

M

MA noticed that Wehr winced when Germany said that last part, but decided to turn a blind eye, figuring it was a personal thing that he didn't want to talk about, and instead questioned Germany further, "So your saying he was a human soldier before he became your militant entity, how does that work, I thought that us countryhumans were just born the way we are."

Mandara looked up from is food upon hearing the question, also intrigued.

L

"Us countryhumans yes," said Germany. "But entities can vary. Sometimes they're blood relatives of their countries, like you and MA or Wehrmacht and Vater. Other times, they aren't related and start out as humans, gradually rising up to become entities. I remember United Nations took him away one day and returned about an hour later with Bundie as a militant entity. I asked him what happened but he said UN made him swear to secrecy. I think it might have been the same case with IRA and Ireland, right Uncle?"

As if on cue, Wehrmacht's phone started buzzing from a call from a certain country.

His eyes flickered awkwardly to the rest of the group. "Mind if I take this?"

M

"No, go ahead," Mandara said.

MA waited to make sure Wehrmacht was out of ear shot before speaking up, "Germany, what did you mean when you by asking Wehrmacht about Ireland and IRA, does he know them?"

"Yeah that was a bit of a weird statement" Mandara stated.

L

A playful smile appeared on Germany's face. "I'd say it's more than 'he knows them'. Ireland and Wehrmacht's son Iremacht goes to school here. Since IRA is also a retired militant entity, he and Wehrmacht are close buddies."

Germany glanced where Wehrmacht was standing out in the hallway, the VIP door left ajar so he could see him talking on the phone. "In fact, I think Ireland or IRA might've called him just now."

M

"Oh, so that's who he was talking about to Bundeswehr," Mandara said.

MA on the other hand had a dumbfounded look plastered across his face. "Wait a minute, wait a minute, back up, the former supreme general of the Nazi army is a father? Trigger pinch me, I think I'm dreaming."

Mandara did as told and pinched his brother. MA waited a second before adding, "Nope, not dreaming, but how the (beep) did that happen?!"

L

Germany burst out laughing, "That's exactly my reaction when I found out!" He calmed down a bit, but his smile was still there as he explained, "During the war, Ireland saved Wehrmacht from being captured by UK. He stayed in Ireland for some time to recover and I'm guessing their relationship started then. I don't know what Ireland did but I remember this one WATCH meeting when I was younger - I think I was building snowmen with Russia and a couple other friends - and my uncle was totally smitten over Ireland. I teased him about it back then and he blushed so much!" Germany couldn't help but laugh again. "He still blushes now if you tease him, though I wouldn't provoke him too much. So ja, the former supreme general of the Nazi army fell in love and is now a father."

M

Mandara and MA giggled at the idea of Wehrmacht blushing over Ireland, then Mandara took on a sly smile and said to MA, "Well Thunder, if Wehrmacht could get a boyfriend, maybe you should ask him for dating advice."

MA almost spit out his water in response to being called out, and immediately slapped Mandara on the arm, "HEY!! You leave my love life out of this, I'll have you know that I am perfectly happy single!"

"You just keep telling yourself that because you intimidate any girl you meet, remember what happened with Japan?"

MA glared at him, "I though we agreed to never speak of that again."

Mandara just playfully stuck his tongue out at him.

L

Germany wiggled his eyebrows mischievously at MA. "Happy single, eh? You know, girls like intimidating boys. Though now I'm curious to know what happened with Japan."

As he said that, Wehrmacht re-enetered the room and sat back down to finish his stew.

The militant analyzed their faces and asked, "I heard a vague mention of Japan. What did I miss?"

M

MA said, "Nothing" right as Mandara said "Thunder's bad at flirting" which earned him a punch from MA.

"I said shut up Mandara, my business is mine and you don't need to keep telling everyone we meet! How would you like it if I started telling people about you dating Poland!"

Mandara just scoffed at his outburst, "Thunder, everyone knows about me and Poland, it's not a secret."

MA opened his mouth to make a comeback, but grunted at his inability to produce one, so he just sat back in his chair and pouted.

L

At the mention of Mandara and Poland together, Germany felt an old twitch in his heart, which he immediately beat down. Despite Poland's decision to date Mandara, Germany and Poland still remained good friends, and Germany refused to let his jealousy get the better of that friendship. Besides, that was long ago. He'd moved on for the most part but it still hurt, like a brief little sting.

Wehrmacht was confused at how the conversation had turned to dating when he'd returned; he glared at Germany, wondering how much his nephew had spilled considering he'd gotten off the call with Ireland just now. Luckily, they seemed to be teasing MA about Japan, and Wehrmacht was intent on rolling with that.

"You're flirting with Japan?" he deduced. "She's a fiesty one, like her mother. Any luck on achieving any 'milestones' as Scotland calls them?"

M

MA glared at Mandara, who just shrugged and gave him an innocent look, so MA gave a long irritated sigh before explaining, "I flirted with her once but we never actually dated. Trigger and I were at a WATCH party and I decided to try my luck with the girls, to keep things short I scared off two women, got slapped by another, and completely embarrassed myself in front of Japan when I Mating Flared in the middle of talking to her, she then slapped when she figured out what I was doing."

MA then started blushing in embarrassment, which Mandara purposely didn't mention just so he could see what would happen.

L

"Ouch, does Japan hit as hard as Japanese Empire?" Wehrmacht said. "And I agree, the mating flare is annoying. One of the pains of having wings I guess. Personally, I didn't figure out what the mating flare was - I thought it was some weird habit my wings had whenever I visited Ireland, something about the weather maybe. Ireland had to explain it to me...which was awkward."

Then Wehrmacht rested his elbow on the table with his chin in his hand and said, "But if you mating flared in front of Japan, that means there's a connection right? I'm not exactly an expert on feelings."

M

"I don't think I ever been slapped by JE before, but it was hard enough to leave a bruise for three days, which is also embarrassing when you have to go to press conferences with a large hand print on your face." MA said, then he scoffed at Wehr's other question, "Ireland apparently didn't explain it that well, because you mating flare when you find someone attractive."

MA then decided to get back at Mandara, "You should have seen what happened to Trigger and Poland on their first date, I drove him up to the restaurant where Poland was waiting, and the minute Trigger got out the car and they got a good look at each other, they both flared at the exact same time, didn't you little brother."

Mandara didn't respond, as he was hiding his face in embarrassment with his wings, which made MA smile smugly.

L

"Oh that's right, Poland has wings too," Germany said. "That must have been a funny scene, the two of you standing there with your wings wide open. By the way, how has your relationship with Poland been going, Mandara? Juding by that display, you must be getting really close. Should I be expecting a wedding soon?"

"The little Pole had better make my nephew best man," Wehrmacht murmured, leaning back in his chair and patting Germany on the shoulder. Then he said to Mandara, "In all seriousness, though, a wedding is a big deal if you're even considering one at this point in time?"

M

Mandara was so flustered at that point that one could have mistaken him for Wehrmacht, and he was desperately trying to hide away in his feathers, but MA was having too much fun at this point.

"Come on Trigger, answer the question, we're waiting," he teased as he pulled on Mandara's wings to show his face, and succeeded.

Now with his tomato red face being displayed to the world, he gulped before shuddering a response. "Um...well...w-we have been t-talking about it recently, b-but nothing's been decided yet...m-maybe."

MA was in the background snickering at his brother cracking under pressure, "You ok Trigger, your starting to look like China."

And at statement, Mandara yelped in his throat and hid under his wings again.

L

Germany burst out laughing at MA's clever comment and even Wehrmacht smiled. The militant could feel the flustered emotions coming off of Mandara's wings. It was not unlike his own emotional turmoil when he proposed to Ireland. He raised his glass.

"A toast to a wedding-to-be then," he said. Germany also raised his glass, although the beer inside was practically trembling as he continued to laugh.

M

"Absolutely, may the grooms live long and prosper." MA cheerfully joined in, and Mandara surprisingly also grabbed his glass and slightly raised it, still hiding under his wings though.

After they toasted, Mandara grumbled to MA, "I hate you brother."

"I love you too Trigger." MA said, "and besides, this is what you get for teasing me ever since we got here."

Mandara sighed and uttered a quiet "touché" before going silent, earning a small chuckle from MA.
