Chapter 38: Apologizing

M:   MA himself was trying to keep from getting trampled as well, he had a few bodyguards to help with that but he still felt a little claustrophobic. He perked up when he too felt his wings vibrating, he looked over to the Germans and waved, trying his best to hide his discomfort. After a few more minutes of taking photos with people and other celebrity stuff, he had his guards disperse the crowd so he could comfortably walk around, then headed over to the Germans.

"Hey guys, sorry I'm late, I got a little caught up with some adoring fans," he said, "I can't say that I don't enjoy the attention, but it could be a little less of a stamped."

He looked around to see where the others were, but he couldn't find anyone, "Where are Trigger and the others, did Iremacht finally do something to get you guys kicked out." he joked, completely unaware of everything that happened.

L:   Iremacht opened his mouth to protest, but then did a double-take and muttered, "Okay, I get why you'd assume that."

"We split up because Machty and Russia don't exactly get along," Germany explained. He thought it best if Mandara were the one to bring MA up to speed with everything else. "By the way, Russia and Kazakhstan are here, they're with the others."

"We all watched your performance from Mandoria's statue," Wehrmacht said. "Forgive me for turning into one of your fans, but I'm going to shower you with even more attention by saying those were some pretty impressive aerial acrobatics."

Iremacht grunted, "Anyone can do cool tricks if they have your wings."

"I can't," Wehrmacht pointed out. "And you just admitted that what MA did was cool."

Iremacht rolled his eyes but eventually said, "Yeah, it was. Not bad."

M:   MA chuckled, he felt a little embarrassed that his friends were fangirling over him, but he hid it well and just said, "thanks, and I'm sure with a little practice that you can get as good as me, Wehrmacht, it took me three centuries to get to where I am now, but I'm sure with your younger wings you'll knock that down to two."

"I do find it strange that the others aren't with you though," he then addressed everyone, "Russia may be a jerk sometimes but he usually behaves himself when visiting another country, are you sure nothing happened while I was away?"

MA realized he was falling back into his suspicious military mode but he couldn't help it.

L:   Germany, Wehrmacht, and Iremacht all exchanged looks with each other. Germany was giving the other two death stares, as if saying, "Nein, nein, nein. It'll be bad if we explain it to him." Wehrmacht had a nervous and guilty expression that read, "But shouldn't we tell him before he has to find out through Mandara later?" And Iremacht just looked exasperate in a "Might as well" kind of way.

"If you get pissed off over what I'm about to tell you," Iremacht warned, "you asked for the explanation."

Germany groaned and threw up his hands.

"You remember the stuff happening in Moscow?" Iremacht continued. "I had a hand in it and Russia wasn't very happy. So yeah, we're not seeing eye to eye right now. Also, a bunch of teenagers - the ones who beat you up, if I remember correctly - clipped one of Poldara's wings while he and I were out enjoying the festival. I stopped them from clipping Poldara's other wing, and Russia scared them off. Oh and Belarus was - still is - pissed that I didn't take better care of Poldara, blamed it on Wehrmacht's parenting skills, and called us Nazis." Iremacht spat the last word out like spit in his mouth. "I might be overexaggerating and forgetting shit here and there. You can confirm it with Mandara."

M:   MA was left completely and utterly dumbfounded, his eyes were wide and his mouth was open a gape, he felt extremely overwhelmed at what he just heard and it was taking a minute for him to process everything.

"Um ... ok," he eventually said, still sounding uncertain of the information, "well ... that is ... um ... pretty eventful, I guess. Do you happen to know where my family is then, or perhaps Belarus?"

"I'm afraid Belarus took her leave and went back to the estate," a familiar voice said behind the militant.

MA turned around and saw Kaz and France walking towards him and the Germans, "she left?" he asked.

"More than left MA, she is packing up to go home," Kaz explained, "we talked about what she said and she was being super stubborn, more than usual. Eventually, she got frustrated and said she was leaving, I tried to stop her but she made her mind, I'm sorry."

MA's wings sunk a bit, "she left without saying goodbye?" Kaz merely nodded, causing the militant's wings to lower even more.

L:   The Germans were also very surprised by this new update. Iremacht scowled and let out a "tch" sound. Germany glared at his cousin.

"I need to apologize before she leaves," Wehrmacht said. "Even if it won't do anything to change her mind."

"Then there's no point," Iremacht said. "Let her go. She's being unreasonable, getting so worked up over this."

"Machty, you should apologize to her too," Germany said. "You two are butting heads here and one of you has to change tactics."

"Why should it be me?" Iremacht growled.

"Did none of the things I said before get into your thick skull?" Germany shouted.

Iremacht groaned and rubbed his face in frustration. The atmosphere felt both tense and sad. It seemed his father was adamant about apologizing. And it didn't sit well with Iremacht that the powerful wings he'd seen on MA during the performance were now sinking to the ground. Progress was being wasted because of him.

"Fine," Iremacht said. "But only because these two winged idiots can't handle their emotions on their own." He started stomping away. "Let's hurry up and get to the estate and fix this mess."

M:   MA looked a little shocked at Iremacht's words, he never imagined that the German would actually agree to apologize to someone.

Now he was torn, should he go with Iremacht and Wehrmacht to talk to Belarus, or should he go find Mandara and make sure Poldara was ok, it was a frustrating decision.

"You should go with them MA," Kaz said, obviously sensing the tension in his wings.

"But what about Poldara?" MA asked

"He's fine, he's having fun like nothing ever happened, and he's with his dads and Russia, so he'll be well protected. Poldara will be here when you come back, but Belarus is someone you can't wait for."

MA nodded slightly in understanding, then turned to Wehrmacht, "let's go."

L:   They made their way off of the celebration grounds and into the nearby neighborhood. Wehrmacht felt more reassured that MA was coming with them; maybe Belarus would be softer if she saw MA.

In front of the group, Iremacht speed-walked with his black half-cape floating out behind him. Although supposedly majestic, he looked more comical with the way he stomped and the frustrated expression he wore.

Twice he turned the wrong corner and faced the embarrassment of having to be called back by Wehrmacht and pointed in the right direction. All the while, Iremacht mulled over how he would even approach Belarus.

By the time they reached the estate, he still had no plan of action formulated and he really wasn't supposed to be as stressed as he was.

He stopped to wait for the others to go first.

"Nah ah," Germany said, shoving him forward. "YOU make the first move."

M:   MA was just as nervous as Iremacht, if Belarus really did say all those things then maybe he should be the one to approach her first, "maybe I should go first, that way she hopefully won't be as aggressive as before."

Inside the estate, Belarus was indeed packing her suitcases, though in her angered state she wasn't being very neat. She was even more frustrated than before that everyone was defending the Germans, they have been nothing but a nuisance in her eyes, and twice Poldara has gotten hurt when Iremacht was around, it just screams the fact that the young militant brings misfortune wherever he goes.

"But they refuse to see it," she muttered to herself, "after everything he's done they are still blind, when will they learn."

L:   Iremacht gladly opened the estate door and stepped aside for MA to take the lead. Germany pushed Iremacht to make sure the young militant was second though.

"Wait," Iremacht mumbled. "I don't know what to say."

"A simple sorry should suffice," Germany said in annoyance. "It's not difficult, Machty. Just open your big mouth and say the magic words."

If Iremacht wasn't so wound up, he would've snapped back at Germany. Instead, he wrung his hands and trailed after MA.

M:   Belarus was actually walking down the hallway with her suitcases to wait in the living room for her driver to come to pick her up, she and MA both entered the living room at the same time, stopping when they spotted each other. Belarus was confused as to why he was there instead of at the park, but when Iremacht came into view she grunted and tried to double back to her room.

"Belarus wait," MA said, he ran over to her and grabbed her arm, "Belarus, please just listen for two minutes."

"I am done listening Mandara Army," she growled, "those Germans don't deserve you all protecting their asses! They have brought nothing but trouble and have hurt you, your brother, and Poldara, multiple times, but you're all too blind to see it!"

She tried to yank her arm out of MA's grasp, "let me go MA, I don't want to talk to any of you!"

MA didn't let go but he didn't say anything either, he didn't know what to do at this point so he turned to the Germans for help.

L:   All three were silent at first. Then Germany nudged Iremacht forward.

"Ah, well, I ... I'm the last person you want to talk to but ..." Iremacht fumbled for words. "I'm sor - what I'm trying to say is - " He took a deep breath through gritted teeth. "Off to a bad start already."

"Take your time," Germany said, although he was tapping his foot impatiently. "No one's going anywhere until you spill it. You don't want to keep Belarus waiting like bad customer service, do you?"

Iremacht clasped his palms together, held them in front of his face like he was praying, and said with his eyes squeezed shut,

"I'msorryaboutfailingtoprotectPoldaraandbeingajerkandtotalasshatallthetimeandIknowyouwon'tforgivemebutpleasedon'tleaveIshouldbetheoneleavingandI'lldothatifitmeansyou'llstaywithMA."
