Chapter 1

Tempest pulled on her sleeve slightly as she set down her pencil. She was hiding in a remote place in the Lost Cities, watching the streaks of red and yellow paint the sky as the sun rose. After the Planting, she knew she had to hide. Everyone would be looking for her, Black Swan, Neverseen - if they weren't in a civil war after the last plan failed - or normal citizen. She was safe nowhere where people could even glance her walking, but she didn't want to leave the Lost Cities. The cliffside she was hiding at the top of provided the security she knew she needed.

Looking down at the paper she had been writing on, Tempest couldn't keep in her sigh of worry. Putting the notebook into a bag she had  taken from the Shores of Solace, she pulled out her blue pathfinder that Gisela had given her when she worked with the Neverseen. She spun the crystal to the right facet before swinging her bag over her shoulder and stepping into the beam of light.

When Tempest reappeared, she quickly hid in the nearest alley she found. Long Island was a busy place, and she didn't want anyone seeing a girl randomly appearing near the street. Cautiously, she walked out of the alley and strode down the road, acting as if she were someone important who needed to get somewhere as fast as possible. Apparently it worked because every group she walked by split to let her pass.

Tempest was in a hurry though. She had to find Hazel, and fast. At first, she had thought she was going crazy when she started hearing voices speak to her in her dreams, but now that the words for together... well, being crazy would make that a strange coincidence.

She was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn't see the person heading towards her until she ran into her. "Sorry," she mumbled, meeting the woman's eyes, which were bright blue. Her blonde hair was up in loose curls, and she wore a white dress spotted with flowers. A matching sun hat sat on her head.

"It's alright dear," the woman replied with a laugh, "You know, its not often to see a nice looking girl like you be so polite."

Tempest smiled, but something about the woman seemed a bit off, "Well, thank you. But I need to go."

"Have a nice day, dear! " the woman called to her as Tempest hurried away. She shuddered before turning the corner and speeding up. The more she thought about it, the stranger the woman seemed.

As soon as she was out of the busier part of the city, she ran. Somehow, Tempest knew exactly where she was going, though she couldn't remember if she'd ever been to Camp Half Blood besides when she was helping the Neverseen take it over. Even then, she had been taken directly there by a leaping crystal that she didn't have.

She came to a stop in the middle of a strawberry field. Tempest could see the demigod camp, but she still didn't know if she could get in. During one of the nights Tempest and Hazel had talked, Hazel told her she would let her come into Camp Half Blood if she needed too, but she didn't know if Hazel had done that yet. Sure, Hazel's word was the only thing she really trusted besides her judgment, but after all that happened with Sophie and Dex, she wouldn't have been surprised if Hazel had changed her mind.

Slowly, she walked towards the barrier around the camp. Even with her ability as a Charger, she didn't know if she would be able to deactivate the barrier to get in if Hazel hadn't given her permission to enter. Taking a deep breath, she stepped towards the barrier and went through easily. Sighing with relief, she walked around behind the buildings, hoping she would find Hazel before someone else saw her.

Even without her Neverseen cloak, Tempest knew people would recognize her. She was the one constantly being sent to watch over the demigods when the Neverseen had control over the camp, and she'd had to tell almost all of them to calm down at least once. Of course she knew they didn't like her, and if any of them saw her, they'd probably recognize her in a heartbeat. That was just the impression she'd put on them, and now that the Neverseen had left and probably wouldn't be coming back, they probably wouldn't hesitate to get rid of her.

Tempest carefully made her way towards the Hades cabin. She knew there was always a chance that Hazel would be at Camp Jupiter, but she had to check here first. Looking out onto the porch, she found Hazel drawing on the front steps, luckily, by herself. Lightly tapping on the wall, she got Hazel's attention.

"Tempest?" Hazel asked, setting down the paper she was drawing on.

" Can we talk inside? " Tempest asked.

Hazel have a small nod and stood, opening the door for Tempest, who looked around for any other campers before following Hazel into the cabin.

"So," Hazel started as she shut the door, " I'm guessing the others still don't like you? "

"Well, I was working with the people who captured you and held you hostage in your own camp. " Tempest pointed out, "I don't blame them."

" You also helped get the Neverseen to leave by earning us of the monster attack. " Hazel countered, "I think that overrides it."

Tempest shrugged, "Honestly, I'm surprised you even talk to me. I shocked you, trapped you and your friends here, put you in a life or death situation when fighting the monsters, and let two of your friends die by not helping. You should hate me."

Hazel sighed, "Well, you came to see me, didn't you? If you really thought I should hate you, you wouldn't have showed up. Speaking of, is there are a reason you wanted to talk to me?"

Tempest sat down and took the bag off her shoulder. Reaching in, she pulled out her notebook and flipped it to the page she had been writing on. "Someone told me this in my dreams," she said as she handed the notebook to Hazel.

Hazel read over the words many times before meeting Tempest's eyes, "Are you sure this is what it said?"

" Positive. It's been repeated many times. "

Hazel sighed and closed the notebook, "Well, we'd better tell the others."
