Chapter 30: Escape Route
Taylor's POV
I studied Hayley's hand that was intertwined with mine. I truly was grateful to have her, and it sickened me that I actually take her for granted most of the time.
"I'll do better," I whispered before planting a kiss on her cheek. I held her sleeping body closer. "I promise."
"I know you will," she whispered back. She turned to me, her eyes instantly locking on mine.
"Didn't know you were awake," I said as I brushed her hair away from her face.
"Despite all the things you've done and could have done, I still trust you," she said.
"Why?" I asked, confused.
"Because I love you," she said, her hazel eyes dazzling again. A smile found its way to my face.
"I love you too," I whispered before kissing her again.
"I want to go away," she said against my lips. I looked into her hazel eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I want to go away," she repeated. "I want to leave. You and me."
"Now?" I asked. Hayley smiled as a small giggle escaped from her.
"Yes," she said.
"Right this second?"
"What are we waiting for!" she laughed. "Let's do it!"
"You sure?"
"Hell yeah. Pack your bags, stiff. We're getting the hell out of here."
"Where to?"
"Wherever the road takes us," she said as she got out of bed. She went into my closet and took out my suitcase and began filling it with clothes. I laughed at her.
"What's next after we find that place?"
"We marry, we make out what we want in our life."
"Now, are you sure?" I asked again.
"More sure than I'll ever be," she said with a grin. "After your bag, we'll hit my place, pack some stuff, and we can go on the road and our new life."
"I love that idea," I said as I sat up, a grin forming on my face. "I love you."
"I love you too, stiff," she laughed. And with that, I helped Hayley pack up for our new destination. Our new life. Our new future.
