Chapter 24: We'll Get Away Eventually
Taylor's POV
I watched Hayley sleep as her delicate bare body laid next to mine. Her fingers were laced between mine, our hands in an awkward, yet comfortable knot. She sighed softly in her sleep, which I found adorable. She also found ways to bury herself deeper in my embrace, even when I thought it was impossible.
"Taylor?" she whispered, her voice being the only sound in the dark room.
"Yeah?" I whispered back. I planted a kiss on her shoulder, then trailed more from there to her neck and cheek.
"Who do you see in your future?" she asked. I caressed her body, it being warm under the covers, but still managing to send desiring and surprised chills down my spine.
"You want me to be honest?"
"Yeah," she said.
"I see you in my future," I admitted. Hayley looked back at me, her hazel eyes lighting up my dim room.
"Really?" she asked.
"Yeah," I said with a smile. I brushed her hair away from her face; she returned the smile.
"Can I say something crazy?" she tried.
"Go for it," I said.
"I want to run away." I studied Hayley, concerned.
"Run away?"
"Yeah. Like find a new life to lead outside of ol' Tennessee. But I wanna have a different escape."
"Really? How?" I asked, curious in Hayley's plans.
"It's gonna sound crazy," she giggled. "You ready?"
"Just say it," I laughed.
"Let's get married." Hayley turned to me with hope in her hazel eyes.
"Married?" I questioned.
"Yeah. You and me. Let's elope. We can pack our bags and take a road trip to wherever we want to go and start our life there."
"You want to marry me?" I asked again, a chuckle of disbelief escaping me. Hayley nodded.
"Yeah," she giggled. "Yeah, I wanna marry you, stiff."
"Me? A stiff?"
"The only stiff I love," she said before kissing me. "Even though you can be a dick head, you're my dick head." I laughed at her strange compliment and nestled with her.
"Alright," I said. I planted a kiss on her forehead. "We'll marry."
