Dexters pov.

No no no no no no no no no. She didn't just do that. Did she?

I couldn't question myself any longer. She did. She did it for Erika. She gave up her life for Erikas.

I know I feel like I should be mad at Erika, but I'm not. I can't be. She became a really good friend.

It doesn't change the fact that my daughter just died in front of me.

I did what anyone would do. I cried. I cried so hard. I cried until my hands shook. I cried until my eyes were bloodshot.

"Aww Dexter in the grieving process?"

"What do you want Laura?"

Nothing. Just came to see the damage I've done on you after I killed both your children."

"Don't even bring up Candace you little bitch."

"But I did. What are you gonna do about it?"

"I swear if I had my powers right now,"

"But you don't. So suck it up you asshole. I still don't trust you."

With that she kicked me in the stomach and left.

I sat there on the floor thinking about Candace. Maddi's sister. She died two years ago in a trial. I had to convince myself it wast Laura, but I knew it was.

"Dexter? What are you doing he- oh my god."

Whelp... Erika's awake.

"Come here." I flatly said.

"But...."

"Come here, Erika."

She had to step over Maddi to get to me. She sat down beside me with pained eyes.

"This is my fault, Dexter."

"It isn't."

"Then who's?! She didn't have to save me. She could've let me die."

"My daughter is dead because of Laura Chestnut. Not Erika Stump. Got that?"

"Wait...Daughter?"

"Yeah."

"Now I'm really guilty."

Just don't Erika. Don't be guilty."

"I feel bad for taking her away from you. On top of that, she was basically the only one I had." She sobbed

"Erika, you didn't take her away. And she wasn't the only one. I'm here for you. Got that?" I gave her a tight hug.

"Really?"

"Yes. This is gonna sound really crazy but, Erika will you be my daughter?"

"Yes, Dexter. Yes, I will."
