Snow Tubing
At the coffee shop, Eileen was giving (Y/n), Mordecai and Rigby bags of their breakfast. "Here you go, two breakfasts to go. I put extra syrup in your sausage scrambler wrap, (Y/n), just the way you like it." She said. "Sweet meat!" Rigby rubs his stomach. "Aww, yeah!" And (Y/n) laughs. "So what do you guys have planned for your day off?" Eileen asked the trio. "Hmm! Hmm! Two words, six syllables." Rigby said.
"Snow Tu-Tu-Tu-Tubing!" The trio said. "Snow tubing is so awesome. You go down the mountain, and hit all these sweet jumps." Mordecai said. "Yeah, last year, I hit this snow bank so hard, I almost flipped over a boulder. What about you, Eileen? Got any crazy tubing stories?" Rigby asked. "Uh, I've actually never been snow tubing." She replied, and the trio gasp. "What?! You've never been snow tubing?! But you love the snow, and you go tubing all the time." (Y/n) said. "Pool tubing is an entirely different beast." She replied.
"Same thing. Just more thrills, chills, and spills." Mordecai said. "But mostly spills. We usually go up to Canyon Run Mountain. You should come. You'd love it." (Y/n) said. "Besides, we haven't been able to hang out in a while, Eileen." She added. "Oh, that sounds great, but I have to work. The coffee grinder's been acting up and the repair guy won't be here for quite a while. So, there's probably a zero percent chance I'll be able to go today. But you guys have fun." Elieen said.
"Oh, okay. Well, don't work too hard. See ya!" Rigby said. "Later, Eileen." Mordecai said. "See you later!" (Y/n) said. "Bye." The trio leave the coffee shop. "Phew!" Eileen is in her house sleeping. She then hears a knock on the door. "Huh?" Eileen opens the door. "Surprise!" The trio said. Sam yawns. "What are you guys doing here at 6:00 in the morning?" He asked. "We switched our day off so we could go snow tubing today instead. Now we can all go together. I thought this would be a nice surprise for (Y/n) since she really wanted to hang out with you." Rigby explained.
"Snow tubing?! Whoa! I haven't gone since I was little. Thrills, chills-" Margaret said. "And don't forget the spills." Everyone, except Eileen laughs. "Uh, thanks, but I'm not sure that I can make it. I promised myself I would clean out my fridge today." She said. "What? That can wait." (Y/n) said. "But my milk is gonna expire soon." Eileen said. "The fun is gonna expire if you don't come with us." (Y/n) said.
"Yeah, I can help you with the fridge when you get back. You and Margaret should go, it'll be really cool." Sam said. Eileen glances down, then glances to (Y/n). She nods her head and smiles. "Well, alright." Eileen said. "Yeah! Snow tubing! Snow tubing!" The trio said. "Can we get some sausage scrambler wraps first?" Rigby asked. Everyone is in the car driving to the mountains. "So, you guys have been here before, right?" Eileen asked. "Tons of times. It's far, but it's worth the trip. Cannon Run Mountain has the sickest slopes." Mordecai said. "It snowed yesterday, too. I bet there's some fresh powder on the mountain." Margaret said. "Aw, yeah! Got to get me some fresh pow-pow!" Rigby said.
Everyone, except Eileen, laughs. She then starts chuckling nervously. She looks at a sign that says "Rest area, next right" "Speaking of powder, does anyone need to use the powder room?" She asked. "No." They all said in sync. "You sure? I want to hear you individually." Eileen said. "No." Mordecai said. "No." Margaret said. "No." Rigby said. "Wait, a powder room is a bathroom, right?" (Y/n) asked.
"Yeah." Eileen said. "No! We've hit every bathroom since we've left." (Y/n) said. "Oh, okay. Well, I got to go." Everyone is leaving Stop N.P., a gas station, with slushies, entering the car. "Man, these things go right through me. Hopefully, I don't have to go to the bathroom again." Eileen starts drinking. Everyone, except Eileen, groans. They then start to drive again. "We usually hit a ton of traffic up here, but I know a short cut. Take a right up here at the fork." (Y/n) said. "A left?" Eileen asked. "No, she said a right." Rigby said. "Left, got it." Eileen said.
"No, right! Right!" Rigby shouted. Eileen drives to the left. "Ugh." Rigby said. "Eileen, what're you doing?" (Y/n) asked. "Oh, sorry, I heard "left." She replied. "Well, it's still pretty early. We'll probably beat the traffic?" Mordecai asked, but Eileen had driven them right into traffic. "All right, unlock the doors-- I'm walking." (Y/n) said. Some time later, the gang finally arrived. "Ugh, finally! If we hurry, we can get 10 runs in before it gets dark." (Y/n) said. "I say we get some food first. Can't go snow tubing on an empty stomach." Eileen said. "Yeah, I am pretty hungry." Margaret said. "I could eat." Mordecai said. "But I want the pow-pow now-now!" Rigby said, and his stomach rumbles. "Ah, stupid body. Okay, let's get some food." He said, and (Y/n) sighs. "Fine." She said.
"Yeah, after the first few runs, it's not so bad. You'll go down the mountain and be like, "Duh, duh, duh, duh-duh. What? You call those bumps? I didn't feel a thing." (Y/n) said. "And if you go fast enough, you'll feel wind on your face, and everything is like, "Sheew, sheew." And you'll be like,"I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!" Rigby shouted, and (Y/n) slaps him. "Ow!" He said. "It's never like that, Rigby.
Quit trying to scare her." She said. "Oh, man, remember last year when we talked Thomas into going down that double black..." Mordecai said. Despite how terrified she was, Eileen still heard parts of that conversation. (Y/n) snickers. "He rode down a mountain with me one time and was so terrified he screamed like a little girl and clung to me the entire time. I'm pretty sure he was traumatized." She said. "I still don't know why you picked this old, beat-up grandpa tube." (Y/N) said as she and Eileen carried it out.
"'Cause it's got the most character." Eileen said. "Yeah, and a bunch of holes." (Y/n) said, at that moment it deflated. "Aw, man. Where are we gonna get another tube? I guess we'll have to wait in line again." Eileen said, then points to the long line. "Well, good luck with that. We'll see you guys up there." Mordecai said. "Yeah, don't take too long." Margaret said. "Oh, look, there's a single-person tube! Hey (Y/n),
just take that and I'll catch up with you later." Eileen said. "No way, I'm not going without you." (Y/n) said. "Don't be silly. I don't mind. Honest." Eileen said. "But Mordecai and Rigby moved this whole trip so we could go tubing together. We haven't been able to hang out for a long time. I've missed you, Eileen." (Y/n) said, and Eileen frowns. The two finally got another tube and began running towards the lift. "Come on, it's getting dark. If we hurry, we can get two runs." (Y/n) said. "Keep it moving. Keep it moving." A guy said as he ushers people on. Eileen begins to turn around. "Oh, wait. I forgot my-- agh!"
Eileen gets caught in and her and (Y/n) both get strapped in and start to go up. "Great view up here, huh? Oh, look-- here come some people tubing." (Y/n) points below them and Eileen looks down. One person passes by smoothly, and another screams and falls off. Eileen starts to hyperventilate. "Are you okay?" (Y/n) asked with concern. "Just breathing in the fresh mountain air. It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be fun." Eileen said. The duo gets off and gets into a line. "Keep it moving. Keep it moving." A guy gets on his tube and rides down smoothly at first, then flips off. "Whoa! I've made a mistake!" He shouted. Eileen looked terrified. "Whoa, did you see that? That guy must have been going 50, maybe 60 miles an hour! With two people, our tube is gonna go way faster than that." (Y/n) said. "Keep it moving." The guy moving the line said. "Can't back down now, so keep it moving." The guy said. "Here we go.
You want the front or back?" (Y/n) asked. "Back. Definitely back." Eileen said. "Okay, knock yourself out." (Y/n) said. "What? Am I really gonna knock myself out?" She asked. "What? No, that's just an expression. Are you okay, Eileen? You're acting weird, you're acting like Thomas did the next time I tried to convince him to go snow tubing with me." (Y/n) said. "Unfortunately Thomas never got over his fear, he tried to, but ended up getting hurt while snow tubing. Now I can't even say those words around him anymore." This scared Eileen even more. "Eileen?" (Y/n) asked. "Oh, shoot, I left my scarf on the chair lift. I can't lose it. It's a family heirloom." She said.
"You mean the scarf that I bought you that you're wearing right now?" (Y/n) asked. "Uh..." Eileen said. "Wait! Where are you going?" (Y/n) asked as she began to run off. She runs right past Mordecai and Margaret. "Looks like somebody's having fun." Mordecai said. "Whoo, yeah!" Margaret said. "So, yeah, I just keep it moving all day. What about you? Do you keep it moving around here often?"
Eileen rushes to a chairlift and gets on. "Phew!" But then sees a sign that has two diamonds on it pointing ahead and gasps. "Double black diamond?! Wait, no! Stop! Turn this thing around! I want to go down!" She shouted. "Eileen!" (Y/n) quickly runs over to the lift and jumps on one to go after her. "Eileen, what are you doing?!" She asked. "I told you." She said. "Stop lying. Just tell me what's wrong." (Y/n) said. "I'll tell you what's wrong, the thrills, the chills, the spills-- snow tubing is not for me!" Eileen shouted. "How do you know? You never tried it." (Y/n) said.
"I did try it. When I was little, I went snow tubing with my dad." She has a flashback to her and her dad. "We tried to hit a jump... but the inertia worked against us. The cold air felt like death on my face. And then..." she gasps. "That's when I got THIS!" Eileen pulls down her sleeve, revealing a small scar on her elbow, and (Y/n) was somehow able to see it from her spot. "A scar?" She asked.
"Not just a scar, a bad one!" Eileen shouted. "Ever since then, I've been afraid of snow tubing, I was just too embarrassed to tell you. I didn't wanna ruin the trip. I knew how much it meant to you." Eileen said. "You shouldn't be embarrassed. I freak out over small spaces all the time. I'm not ashamed of my claustrophobia!" (Y/n) shouted. "You're right." Eileen lands on top of the mountain, and then (Y/n).
"I'm sorry I wasn't honest with you from the start." She said. "It's okay. I don't want to make you do something you don't want to." The two friends hug. "Ready to go back? Hot chocolate's on me." (Y/n) said, as she points back, and Elieen chuckles. "Yeah, let's go." She said. "Ooh, closing time. So, you've, uh, seen how I keep things moving. Let me show you how I slow things down." The guy pushes a button and the chairlift stops moving. "Uh oh." (Y/n) said. "No! No, no, no!" Eileen runs to the edge of the cliff and waves her arms. "Hey! We're up here! Hello, anybody?!" Elieen asked frantically. "Did you hear something?" Margaret asked. But Mordecai had his head in a pile of snow, and Margaret pulls him out. "Epic spills." He said.
"Hello! Somebody, help!" Elieen shouted. "Don't worry. I'll just call Rigby." (Y/n) takes out her phone, but had no service. "No service?" She asked, then walks around the small mountaintop until she went toward the edge. "Wait, I got a bar." Then she accidentally drops her phone. "Whoops. Well, I needed a new phone anyway." (Y/n) said, then chuckles, and Elieen grabs her. "What are we gonna do?!"
She shouted. "Hm-hm! There's only one way out of this: Snow tu-tu-tu-tubing." (Y/n) said, as she lifts the tube over her head. "Are you crazy? A double black diamond in the dark? That's a death sentence." Elieen said. "Look, Eileen, I know we can do this. I won't let anything happen to you. You just got to trust me." (Y/n) said, then lent a paw toward her. Elieen smiles, then grabs her paw. The two sit on the tube. "This is it. Get ready for thrills and chills." (Y/n) said. "And spills?" Elieen asked. "Not this time."
(Y/n) pulls her snow goggles on. "Hm-hm!" (Y/n) said. "Okay, on three." Eileen closes her eyes. "One, two..." the tube starts moving. "No, no, no!" Elieen shouted as the tube rode off the mountain. The girls screamed as they rode off. The tube rides rapidly down ledges, then onto a track and into a tunnel. (Y/n) catches a glimpse of multiple things in the tunnel before it goes dark again, such as a red crystal, a snow monster, and a skeleton, before the tube exists the tunnel. "Trees!" Elieen shouted, as she points up ahead. The tube quickly slides past them. "Rocks!" Eileen shouted. The tube manages to dodge the rocks as well. "Grizzly bear!!" Elieen shouted as a giant bear stood in front of them.
(Y/n) screams, then lifts the tube up, and they fly into the air. The two girls scream, then land back on the tube and ride again. It then slides towards a cliff. "Oh, no!" Elieen shouted, and she quickly clung onto (Y/n) the same way Thomas did as the tube launches into the air right over the cliff. Once the tube lands on the other side, the snow from behind breaks behind them as it slides forward. Mordecai, Margaret and Rigby were waiting for the two. "They should've been back by now." Margaret said.
"Do you think they're okay?" Mordecai asked. "I've been trying to call (Y/n) but she won't answer me!" Rigby said as he held his phone out. "I'm sure they're fine. (Y/n) knows this mountain like the back of her hand." Mordecai said. "Wait, what's that?" Margaret asked, pointing forward. "It's like, this part right here." Mordecai said. "No, that!" She points again. The girls are still screaming as they slide down, then they both fall into the snow and form into a giant snowball as they continue to roll down.
The trio scream as it comes toward them and quickly jump out of the way as the snowball crashes. They look in to see if they're okay. "That... was awesome! I've never felt more alive in my entire life!" (Y/n) groans as she lifts her head. "We were going so fast and ramped up a bear and flew over this crevasse and..." Elieen continues. Later on, Elieen shows her scar to Mordecai, Margaret and Rigby. "Wow, Eileen, no wonder you were so afraid to go tubing." Margaret said.
"What am I looking at, exactly?" Mordecai asked, as he squints to see it, and Margaret elbows him. "Oh!" He yelps. "I'm sorry I was acting so weird yesterday. Hopefully, this extra day will make up for lost time. 'Cause I need me some of that fresh pow-pow! Whoo!" Elieen grabs (Y/n)'s arm, and she flinches. "We're gonna hit every slope!" Elieen said as she led (Y/n) over. "Uh..." (Y/n) said. "I call front this time." Elieen sits in the front as (Y/n) sits behind her. "Bring on the thrills, chills, and spills. Yeah!" She said. The tube falls down a small slide. "That's it?!" Elieen throws her paws in the air in disbelief.
