Chapter Four: Infinite Paths
He had a job.
A job.
His job was suppose to be to guard the tree of feelings, not to help at the library.
Yet... he needed to keep busy, till time caught up.
Trance sighed, adjusting the grey tinted lenses of his goggles.
Umbra had helped at mush as he could, but with his multiverse coming to a crossroads he had to be moved to safety.
Solas had been a sweetie the one time they met.
"Why did I pick this disguise?" he asked himself, his clothing were brown and made to look raggedly, a rather deep hood and his papas red scarf.
Papa had loved the red scarf even if he rarely wore it, one of the few items from before his time as Error... not that papa could remember who he had been before.
Papa had allowed Trance to wear it that day, and now the tiny guardian would never be able to return it.
"Hey now, relax," Umbra said poking him gently, Trance gave him a nervous smile.
"Sorry," he replied.
"Don't be, its fine to be nervous on your first day," Umbra told him.
"Its... I have months to wait so I don't cause a time paradox," Trance sighed, Unbra gently rubbed his skull.
"Be good kid, if everything works out right I'll be able to introduce you to Ser and Shades," Umbra said.
"I'll look forward to it," Trance replied, Umbra gave a soft smile then vanished into shadow.
Taking a deep breath, Trance began his job.
OoOoO
Time seemed to stretch into forever.
The Job was a lot easier then he thought it would be, as the magic of the library did most of the work. He was mostly guiding visitors here and there, and teaching them to use the services there.
The date he accidentally sent himself back in time would soon be here, and that scared him in some ways.
What if he had someone created a paradox with the accidental time trip and killed his twin with it?
He magic of the library tugged at him, telling him that another visitor needed him. Quickly he followed the thread of magic, he'd long had practice with it now.
He blinked when he saw the visitor, a Dream and they seemed... fragile.
"Are you looking for something?" Trance whisper asked from right behind him.
The Dream yelped and spun around, and stared, taking in trances disguise.
"Sorry you scared me," Dream said sheepishly.
"Its okay, I'm very quiet," Trance whispered, it hurt to see this adult version of his brother and he was careful to shield his emotions from the other.
"I'm trying to save the tree of feelings, its dying in my multiverse," The Adult version of his twin said.
"Ah.. that's not good, do you know your multiverse codes?" he asked curious.
"Is that important?" Dream asked clearly worriedly
"A bit, but we can always use an orb to narrow down to just your multiverse," he replied.
"Orb?" Dream asked, looking a bit confused for a moment.
"There new, something about kidnappings and corrupted fates," he said.
"That doesn't sound good," Dream said worriedly.
"Don't worry your multiverse is fine now, and here is an orb. Just push a bit of magic in it," he replied, Dream did and the orb glowed and a gem popped into existence beside the orb.
"Oh! The magic in it will lead me to the information for my multiverse," Dream said happily as he picked it up.
"Good luck," Trance said, and began to walk away.
"Thanks again, by the way. Whats your name?" Dream asked, Trance didn't answer as he was already out of sight hidden by a bookcase.
Trance sighed as Dream ran from sight, they pushed back there hood and loosed there goggled. Brilliant purple eyelights were revealed, magic tainted tears slipped down his face.
Trance had not expected to come across an alternate of his brother.
He clenched his fists, he had to be strong.
Error hadn't sacrificed himself to save him for nothing, he'd find his Dream and they'd stop Ink's mad crusade.
"Ruru papa, I'll bring Reverie home I promise," he whispered, running a hand on his fathers scarf.
