Madhushree's dilemma.....
"I don't know deepu who the heck he was???? Besides he didn't call again......" madhushree softly said as she recalled the peculiar incident of last night.
"I wonder who it can be......I mean not everyday someone rings you up and asserts himself to be 'Your fan'......that's absolutely creepy, if you ask me!!!!! And isn't that bizzare.....a man not addressing his crush but vociferously claiming him to be a crazy devotee!!!! That's horrendous and a bit perplexing......." deepali stated unwrapping the chocolate bar. Madhushree nodded as deepali shared some chocolate with her. They both were having a happy 'gossip' time together, inside the taxi, on the way to the college. Nevertheless, fortuitously madhushree's gaze landed upon the road they were driving on, it was all clear with not a singular human on the road. From the mills to the casual emporiums, everything was vacant. The malls were deserted and no food vendor was in the line of sight. And it was downright bizzare for a city like Delhi to be devoid of commotion or humans in general. The busyness of Delhi isn't baffling to any native yet the enigmatic desolation was perturbing for madhushree or anyone who is acquainted with the metropolis. Besides one more eccentricity grappled her attention and that being the enigmatic fixing of the potholes. The potholes were a drawback of this road and it wasn't taken care of by the PWD. And therefore this sudden renovation of the road was absolutely baffling to her.
"Deepu, did you see this..........the road is empty and the potholes have been fixed.........and do you smell the faint Asphalt concrete.........a new road has been laid some time before.....!!!!!" madhushree said to deepali and deepali glanced over the road anxiously. She gasped as she found whatever madhushree was saying was correct.
"You are right............Uncle, do you know about this abrupt road fixing.......????" she asked the taxi driver. He shook his head quickly as he himself was perturbed with this absolutely new bizzareness.
"Deepu I don't feel right........" madhushree whispered anxiously. Deepali sighed at her paranoid best friend.
"Madhu, it's nothing.........don't panic!!!!" she stated casually, chomping on the chocolate bar. Madhushree though was apprehensive yet nodded at her words. Few minutes later, they were in the college. Madhushree paid the driver and they both strode towards the EMPTY COLLEGE. Madhushree was agape when she first caught sight of her near abandoned college. The students apparently had vanished, the college staff was also not on the scene and wholly the college appeared more like an vacated haunted town than a college. Deepali was perplexed while madhushree was frightened as hell. First that desolate road, than this empty college. What on earth was happening????
"What the hell is this???? Is it a holiday........????" Deepali frowned while tossing the wrapper into the bin. Madhushree gasped as she grabbed deepali's hand.
"Deepu, let's go.........I......I........don't feel good......." she muttered as she swung round and dragged deepali with her. However in the process, a manly voice stopped them in their tracks.
"Madhushree child..........come......come.......the college isn't closed.......!!!!" it was the voice of the dean that propelled madhushree to turn around. She perplexedly glanced over the dean whose perspiring, pale face befuddled her. He practically ran towards them.
"Come inside.........classes will begin shortly........" the Dean assured in his kinda terror struck voice and both the girls were puzzled, nevertheless went with him. The Dean rather than ushering them to the classroom, took them to the auditorium and in the journey all they saw was nothingness apart from pigeons. He very courteously opened the door for them and they both hesitantly went in. Inside he asked them to sit on the seats.
"Please make yourself comfortable........I'll send the professors here itself..........you both will have your classes here from now on!!!!!" he stated with an evident terror in his eyes while he wiped the sweat from his face. The girls gaped at him in shock. Is it a sort of a VIP treatment????
"But why sir???? We can take our classes in the classroom just like everybody else does!!!!" madhushree faltered and the dean was horrified for some reason.
"No my dear.........it's a special place for you both..........you both are scholars and I........I.......don't want your studies to face any disruption and therefore this secluded auditorium is the best place for you.........Please don't say no......" he chuckled nervously "Or else I will die..." he muttered it to himself and fortunately the girls misheard it. Madhushree was yet perturbed but knowing that he was the college dean, she ought to politely follow him.
"Ok Sir......" she whispered softly and the elation was eloquent in the eyes of the college dignitary. He grinned as he quickly stuffed his napkin back into his pocket.
"Very well........thank you so much........!!!" his voice held a sense of relief as he whisked out of the room leaving the two girls alone.
"That's so bad.......now how will I stare at the hot guys in my classroom......" deepali whined which escorted a chuckle from madhushree. Outside the auditorium, the terrorised dean was spotted conversing with someone on his phone.
"Yes......Yes........Sir...........!!!!! Certainly inform him that I won't let any harm come over his treasure, in my premises positively.......!!!!!" he stuttered on the phone.
Inside the Python Bungalow, apart from the usual scenario, something peculiar was taking place in the 7th floor of the bungalow. On the 7th floor was a grand hall where currently multitude of men sat by the huge computers. There were many of them, sitting in two huge rows adjacent to the walls and apparently gawking at the computers. They were well covered up, headphones, mics, speakers.....everything you could think of was right on the scene. But the peculiarity of the situation could only be limned when one discovers the purpose behind the call centre arrangements. Let me enlighten you, so every single computer and the person operating it were informing to one singular person, PYTHON. Although he wasn't on the scene. And it is inevitable for us to not know regarding his whereabouts coz believe it or not, we all adore him in some way or the other. He was in the bungalow itself, but on the 8th floor, in his theatre room. He wasn't a 'man of films' but theatre was there for his cars or their advertisement. But today the projector presented a slideshow of his beloved obsession, yes the nymph called madhushree. And there he was in the centre of the theatre, sitting on the studio couch and gawking at the slideshow of her photographs which he had acquired after him knowing her bio data. The men from the hall were regularly in touch with the tech giant, but for what reason???? The light shall be thrown on it pretty soon.
"A call from Lata Chawla, at 4:30 pm...!!!" a voice came from the stylist speaker beside him. His gaze didn't deviated from his treasure but his ears were attentive to the voice.
"A message on whatsapp from Deepali Senon : I am coming for a sleepover tonight at your place....." another voice came and python rested his one leg over the other.
"Another message from Mohan Chawla: Check in the pantry if we have groceries left, message me if not, I will have them brought when I come " and python although listening yet his burning gaze was fixed on the projector.
"Sir, someone dropped a msg on instagram, it's a boy called Henry Shah, writes Hi beautiful!!!!" this made python clench his fists, he grabbed the microphone.
"Inform Daniel to shoot the boy....." his breathing was heavy as he tossed the microphone on the floor. There was a moment of pause but then abruptly he heard one more voice.
"Sir........Sir..........Deepali Senon is calling Mrs Python.......!!!!" said the voice and python rose up from his seat.
"Tap the call, and send one line to me.......!!!" he was impatient as he smacked his hands on the table and moved his face sinisterly close to the speaker to hear every single word she speaks. He heard the phone ringing for a moment before she picked up the call and he was elated.
"Deepu, hii......" python stroked the speaker as if she was there not the gadget.
"Madhu, did he call again......" python was frowning at her voice. Couldn't she just let her speak??? He only wanted to hear her, not her.
"No, I think it was just a prank call....." and python punched his fist on the table. He smashed the glass tumbler with his fist while his breathing became unsteady. And then again he smacked his hands on the table with only a sole distinction in the form of tears in his obsessive eyes.
"How can you think............How can you...........Python's love is not a joke..........It's not a casual jest.........Perhaps, I need to show you.........I need to show you the depth of my madness, the summit of my passion and.......and my limits defying obsession for you........." he spoke up with desperate tears brimming in his eyes. He continued to hear her though.
"Don't worry madhu, as long as I'm with you, no one can harm you...." Python was clearly uninterested in this blatant statement of hers.
"Of course, when you yourself are thin as a sheet of paper..........Foolish girl, you will be blown away with a mere gust of wind........" he muttered in disdain.
"I believe you Deepu.........I have to go, I have to search for groceries in the pantry........I will meet you in the night.....Bye!!!!" Python stiffened at her resolution. She can't leave like this, he wants to listen to his beautiful voice for some more time.
"No please no madhu.........Please, I wanna hear you..........Please don't leave me.........." he whispered anxiously with his tear enveloped eyes. But madhushree couldn't hear him obviously, therefore she disconnected the call thence and all he could hear was the vexing disconnecting sound.
"MADHU........." he yelled in despairment as he hurled the speaker on the floor. His fury and on top of that her heartwrenching rejection (for him) was slowly devouring him altogether. And hence he found solace in wreaking articles in his theatre, from the table to his laptop, everything bear the outcome of his fury. The theatre was witnessing a mayhem and the sound of it went straight to Raghu who is always lurking near Python to prevent any misadventure by him. Ran he went to the theatre and discovered the tech giant smashing poor furniture for apparently no reason.
"Python..........What are you doing???" he gasped as he ran and stood in between him and the studio chair. Python glared at him but Raghu was obstinate on knowing the reason.
"Ok, so is it because of her........" he asked a little short of breath. Python turned his face away from him as he kicked the chair in disdain. Raghu smashed his hand against his head.
"What's the matter with you Python.............!!!!" Raghu asked loudly as he saw Python punching his fist into the wall. Python closed his eyes as tears slipped down them, he rested his hand against the wall and started.
"You won't understand Pandit..........You won't understand.........the unendurable anguish of loving someone so madly and they inturn present you with an agony of rejection..........That the person who you worship with your everything surmises your devotion to be a mere jest............!!!!! You won't understand........." he cried inclining his head against the wall. Raghu sighed.
"Than find someone who understands your love...........why to run behind the one who doesn't have anything to do with our emotions......" said Raghu and for a moment Python was silent. But not for long as Raghu heard a feeble laughter which by the end of the second had metamorphosed into a sinister laughter which apparently dazed Raghu.
"Pandit..........love is not a piece of cake that you don't like in one bakery and head to the other............No!!!!! Love is a devotion, an anguishing desperation............an immortal madness and a devouring obsession....!!!!!" stated Python as he looked at Raghu with his fetish eyes. Raghu gulped.
"But she doesn't loves you, Python.........More than that, your obsession will scare her..........She will fear you not love you........" Raghu said with fear and Python chuckled.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.........." he altogether dodged his statement and began humming a tune he had heard recently. Raghu was baffled with his bipolar attitude and gaped at him while he sat on his studio couch and stared at the slideshow of her pictures.
"Python please...........she has a life of her own............you can't do this!!!!! Stop with your obsession already....." Raghu once again tried but Python blankly stared at him.
In the early night, Madhushree and Deepali were strolling in madhushree's colony. Deepali would be staying at her house for the night. They had their dinner and were out for a light walk.
"I wonder how that person must be.........the one who called you.......Would he be handsome???? Or some outcast nerd???? Or........."
"Deepu stop it, I don't wanna hear anything about him. You can't understand how creepy that fellow was!!!!" madhushree said and deepali chuckled.
"I wish I was with you that time.......I swear It would've been so much fun......" she yelled on the vacant road. Madhushree glared at her.
"Fun!!!!! Are you crazy.........that man was so creepy!!!!! What are you talking!!!!" madhushree frowned at her and deepali giggled.
"Ok fine, sorry........" deepali said and madhushree smiled. They both resumed to walk, however a teenage girl came straight striding towards them with a bouquet of fresh crepe myrtle flowers. And confoundingly she stopped near the two.
"This is for you mam!!!!" she said politely stretching the bouquet to her. Madhushree and deepali looked at her in perplexity.
"Um..........Are you sure?????" madhushree asked again and she nodded politely. She gently placed the bouquet in her hands and walked away immediately. Deepali stroked the beautiful white flowers which astonishingly had few droplets of dew on the petals confirming that they were freshly plucked.
"Who must have given these????" asked deepali and madhushree gave her a 'I don't know' look. However no sooner she had said that, madhushree's phone started to ring. She gave the flowers to deepali and answered the call.
"Hello......"
"Flowers for my precious flower......" that same dauntingly husky voice was back again and madhushree gasped. She placed her hand on the speaker and whispered.
"It's him deepu......" and deepali stiffened.
"Ask him who is he????" deepali whispered and madhushree nodded.
"Um.........."
"Liked the flowers........" he asked and madhushree bit her lip.
"Sorry but I don't accept gifts from strangers......." she faltered while deepali heard curiously.
"I am no stranger" he said and deepali showed a slap to the phone (to him).
"But I don't know you..........who are you????" madhushree asked softly and the person chuckled.
"I gave you my denomination yesterday........remember!!!!" he said and madhushree was slowly growing terrorised of his voice.
"Oo Bhaiya!!!!! Will you just tell us who the hell are you????? Look, madhu doesn't wants to do anything with you.......stop calling her!!!! By the way, where did you get these flowers from!!!!" deepali yelled and madhushree gasped.
"We can ignore you positively, Ms Senon!!!! And dear madhu, did you like the flowers........these are your favourite ones, Right???" his voice held desperation and madhushree found it extremely creepy.
"Please don't talk like this to my best friend......." madhushree said balling her tiny fists.
"Did you feel bad............I am sorry, madhu.........I promise, I will never talk to her in this fashion ever again!!! " he said anxiously and madhushree looked at deepali with fear. This man sounded pure evil.
"Yes and don't even talk to me too........I don't want to talk to you!!!!" she said and deepali nodded at her words. The man apparently wasn't happy and his next words confirmed it.
"Why not???? Hm!!!! What's wrong with me!!!!" he was breathing heavily and madhushree was seemingly at a loss of words.
"Because.........Because........I have a boyfriend......." she lied but it would keep this cheapster away, she thought. Now, madhushree heard a rapid smashing of something on the phone. And before she could comprehend anything, the voice had something to declare.
"Tum meri ho madhu.........sirf meri!!!! Kisi aur ki nhi ho skti tum.........kabhi nhi ho skti.........!!!!" his voice was blood curdlingly horrifying and madhushree was left in scary tears as she quickly disconnected the call. Deepali who witnessed all this could only imagine what worse was coming on their way.
