What, I do references for book titles now even? Eh, just roll with it.

Here are some rules I'll lay down for y'all! Please keep them all in mind, because I have gotten people not respecting them and practically crapping on them. My book, my designs, my rules, okay? Neat-o

《 Only people I know are allowed to adopt 》

You might think this is too limiting, but I'm only willing to give characters and/or designs away to people I trust. I have major trust issues because of past experience that I wouldn't prefer to happen again. 

If I've never spoken a word to you, if you don't follow me, if we've never interacted, if you're new to my profile and books, then please, send me a DM first to chat or something. I need to know if I can trust you first. 

This is another good way to prevent strangers from following me for a character, then unfollowing me after. Not gonna work, bud

《 You're free to alter anything 》

Whether it be the clothing, the gender, the name, the traits, the colors, anything! You can change and alter, heck, even get rid of things! You 100% own the character once I give it to you and I have no right to take it back abruptly or tell you to not change things. 

There are certain aspects I might ask people not to change though, for example, if there's a gay character, and them being gay is a crucial part of their character, I'd prefer if you didn't change their sexuality and defeat the purpose of the character. That make sense? Hopefully-

Same thing goes for species of mine. If I give away a Duplic adoptable, I'd really like it if you didn't get rid of their multiple limbs, fluffy tails, or change the purpose of their eyes, since those are core aspects of the species that cannot be altered. 

《 You can use them for whatever 》

I don't care what it may be, writing, drawings, RPs, projects, it can be whatever! It can be dark, angsty, fluffy, lewd, again, I'm not here to limit your options and take away things you might enjoy, just because I don't do those things. If you do decide to draw umm, NSFW of it though just, don't tag me .w.

You can also take as much time as you need to make content for them. I hate the "Use them!" argument because it rushes people when everyone should move and create things for characters at their own pace. It might take some time to create ideas for the character so again, take your time! Just, don't forget about them, I guess?

《 You can give them away 》

If you truly don't find any use for the character anymore and just see it collecting dust, you're free to put it up for adoption yourself or give it to a friend. You got my permanent permission, you don't necessarily have to ask or let me know (although it is comforting if you do). You own the character at that point, I technically have no say in it. You can also give it back to me, if you wish. 

《 Keep the price the same 》

Unless I make some sort of decision in the future and find a way to receive and give actual real payment, all these adopts are free, BTA, NTA, or OTA. 

BTA stands for Bio To Adopt. I'll give a form for a character that you'll have to fill in, it can be name, gender, personality, sexuality, anything. This type is not first-come-first-serve (FCFS) and I'll be picking the bios I feel were put the most amount of effort into.

NTA stands for Name To Adopt. You'll have to name the character you want. This type is FCFS.

OTA stands for Offer To Adopt. You'll have to offer something/some things for the character you want. What I accept for offers is art, adoptables (especially animal hybrid ones), or maybe other characters if I like them. The most preferred is art, tho. What I don't accept is votes, comments, shoutouts (exposure pay, much?), and DA points or any kind of coins.

Now comes the actual rule. Please keep the price of the adopt the same if you do put it up for adoption yourself later. If the adopt you got was a BTA, keep it a BTA. If the adopt was free, keep it free. 

Unless you have additional art or other forms of content for the character you're giving away, the price and worth of the adopt should remain the same. It should not be resold for a higher price unless you contributed your own additional work into it.

《 Time limit for offers 》

Stole this one from MotherlyDino- but I need to mention it. If I accept your offer for an OTA, you'll have a month to finish it, with multiple reminders if I don't see progress being shown. If something comes up, tell me, and I'll extend it by another month, the adopt will be put on pending during the process of you making the offers.

If I don't hear back from you and you take too long, I'll let you know I've canceled the offer. Might sound harsh, but once I've waited six months for an adopt and then was told they weren't gonna do it, so I'm no longer taking chances. I'm patient, trust me, but my expectations aren't flexible.

《 Suggestions are open 》

No, not requests. I've gotten requests (or, I guess, "Customs") for individual adoptables for people, and I'm not doing it unless you're a close friend of mine or I'm doing it as an offer. The point of these adopts is that everyone has a chance to get them. If this was a book where you could just request free designs or characters, it wouldn't be an adopt book anymore, would it?

But yes, suggestions of ideas are always welcome and even appreciated. They can be themes, species, traits, and anything else in between. I constantly run out of ideas, so!

《 Do not argue, whine, guilt-trip 》

If you didn't get the adoptable you wanted, don't throw a fit in the comments and attack the person who got it. Don't show me an attitude either, it has happened. If I criticize your lacking bio, weird comment, or anything else, take it or leave it. Showing an attitude will not help you get characters.

Don't whine and especially do not guilt-trip me. The "Aww, guess I'll never get an adopt from you..." comments really just...don't help and make me feel way too bad.

There's plenty more where that came from, and you can always again, suggest ideas you wanna see and have better luck next time.

《 Be patient with me 》

I have no clue what my schedule is for this book, it changes all the time, depending on how much work I need to do or how busy I am. Even motivation and inspiration come into play when determining the pace of my work schedule of this book. Also, lack of ideas. If you want more adopts, suggest ideas. 

You can remind me if I take a little long on your egg/in progress adopt, just don't be a jerk about it. I have my own life too, and time zones are a thing.

《 There's no limit 》

You can adopt as many as you'd like, but if there are a bunch in one chapter, please be considerate towards other people. Let others have a chance too!

《 Please CREDIT 》

I'm not beating around the bush with this one. If you don't credit me, I'll warn you once, after a couple warnings, I'll cut contact. 

You don't necessarily have to credit me for the character every single time you make content of them. Just the first time is enough (multiple times is appreciated.) BUT if you use my ART of the character, for Crofter's sake, credit me. Credit me every time you post the art. It should be common sense. My signature being there is not enough. 

《 Have fun 》

In the end, even if my rules are strict for the sake of safety, I just want you guys to have fun and enjoy being here, adopting characters you'd like. This book is just for fun, after all! ^^
